  1. I don't see anything "new" in this proposal. Just another means to circumvent the process for immigration and legalize and illegal act.

    1. I agreee....nothing too new. Plus, it's emphasizing that illegals (they keep calling them Immigrants, which is unfair to the argument; legals are immigrants....those breaking our laws are illegals) can be released before their court dates. I've heard some say most DO show up, but I have also heard some say most do NOT, and I tend to think if it were I who was facing a court date and I had kept under the radar as an illegal, I'd not be going to court. What's the point?

    2. I’ve been told that I’m many ‘immigrant communities’ there is a robust support network that can quite easily keep illegals off the grids for a number of years. There doesn’t exist the incentive for many to appear in court.

    3. I know quite a few families here illegally. One family has a member who's been going through cancer treatment for two years.

Another had a kid fall in with the wrong people, police got involved, he's since straightened himself out.

They all have jobs, rent their houses/apartments, and apparently, their immigration status never came up throughout their daily routines, and this is in Trump Country, as very conservative Southern Colorado redoubt in a blue state.

    1. Why only for Republicans? How about we just repeal the NFA?

    4. These thoughts seem independent of Trump, which as you know is verboten. Report for lobotomization.

    5. Then the answer to your question is, of course not. But let’s still repeal the NFA.

    6. What does that mean?

      No Fracking Allowed?

We're drowning in a boiling vat of cryptic, decidedly unappetizing Alphabet Soup.

  3. Anyone wanting to invite in illegal alien criminals cannot be trusted with power.

On its face, exactly. But if we carried that theme across Congress (violating the law), we wouldn’t have anyone sworn in and seated.

    Very few, anyway.

  5. Here's a good example of where it all goes south.
First we have Tucker claiming he's read the bill and making some pretty inflammatory statements which the right is eager to completely believe and on the other hand we have the ACLU presenting the bill as a benign protection of due process.

Which is it? Somewhere in the middle.

    1. Duck,
Of course Tucker and the ACLU present differently -- different ideologies.

But even a middle truth on this issue can be problematic.

Now, how are you? Still in cardiac rehab? You had a quintuple bypass, didn't you? And didn't you have a heart attack a few years back? Maybe my memory is faulty about that last question.

    2. How could a quasi-human creaturer who has NO HEART possibly have a "Heart Attack?"

    3. Franco,
Now, now, my friend. Duck does have a heart. I've seen him extend kindness.

    4. Progress is slow, AOW. I'm at 45% heart function but not in any pain..

The point of my post is that we need to compromise (and right on times, Freethinke demonstrates how difficult that would be).

    5. Duck,
45%? You must have quite a few limitations, then.

    6. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Your point of view (whether I agree or not) is sorely missed:

    8. Many miss the true significance of my wry sense of humor, Ducky. I was merely taking a cheap shot to try to elicit a bit of mirth –– admittedly at your expense. To take quips of this kind literally betrays –– let us say –– too sober an approach to the Art of Living.

Unfortunately, the mood here among the majority of participants seems to be immune to the benefits of lighthearted satire and whimsy.

      To be BLUNT:

i don't believe YOU, personally, are evil at all, but I am utterly convinced that your brand of political ideology is downright SATANIC. I'm sure you are a much or more a victim of Marxian Dialectics as any of us.

That I would Sgleefully UPPRESS and ERADICATE even the MEMORY of Marxist Doctrine had I the power to do so is a given. As Christians we are instructed to RESIST the DEVIL at every turn. Since Marxism is DECIDEDLY a work of the Devil, I have no qualms whatsoever about wanting to see it ERADICATED from Human consciousness.

The Bible says, "By their FRUITS shall ye know them."

The terrible tragedy that the unprecedented levels of carnage and widespread destruction was defioned the twentieth century. I believe that THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR virtually EVERY BIT of IT can and should be laid at the feet of the poisonous ideology known under the umbrella terms of MARXISM-COMMUNISM-SOCIALISM-STATISM-COLLECTIVISM.

      Delete
    9. In short: We CANNOT afford even to TRY to "COMPROMISE" with the DEVIL.

    10. Thersites,
We're DONE compromising, McDuck. It's time to roll back all those RINO Go-Along to Get Along Deals made since 1960

The problem with the Right's compromises: they are actually compromises and done in good faith. The end result is a surrender.

The problem with the Left's compromises: they are temporary and merely a falling back to regroup for the next onslaught.

So, it truly is time to stop so-called compromising.

    11. In other words, the Left's compromises are hudnas.

  6. All I know is if the 2020 Presidential election comes down to Trump vs. Bernie, we'll have a stark choice. One the one hand we'll have an America-hating far-left gun-grabbing anti-Establishment lunatic that is likely an asset of Russian intelligence, and on the other hand we'll have a two-term Senator from the gun-loving state of Vermont.

  9. UNBIDDEN BUT PERTINENT ANALYSIS, IF YOU HAVE THE INTELLGENCE TO SEE THE CONNECTIONS and PARALLELS:

Leftist Activists –– and Dogmatic Legalisic Unimginative Conservatives Who Lack Breadth of Vision –– tend always to be loud, ferociously insolent and unfailingly obnoxious. They don't really give a rat's rump about Justice, Trees, Animals, Children, Clean Water, Conservation, or Public Health and Safety. If they did, they'd turn their attention to finding and implementing effective ways to provide good alternatives for the Homeless who've turned the once proud cities of San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, New York, Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis and elsewhere into CESSPITS..

This growing population of derelict drug addicts, alcoholics, gang bangers, and chronic ne'er-do-wells are literally making our cities UNINHABITABLE by reducing the local standards of living to Third World levels –– often harking back to the horrors of modern day India, or Mediaeval Europe, and worse.

Terrible, of course, but these loud, aggressive "activist" types are simply ADDICTED to the unlimited expression of NOISY, ABRASIVE, ACCUSATORY, SELF-RIGHTEOUS expression of RAGE and CONDEMNASTION.

Their only tangible accomplishment is to make a bloody NUISANCE of themselves often while provoking sensless VIOLENCE.

  12. I heard of a fellow recently, a friend of my sister, who was born in MX, came as a 2 year old and was deported just before his wedding a month or so ago! WHAT? Speaks English, is thoroughly American. I'd say GO AFTER THE BAD ILLEGALS, not someone like this guy! And it sets a terrible example for the anti deportment crowd.....they have a point when we're deporting someone like him!!

Cases of the sort you described are the reason why Dickens had the Beadle in Oliver Twist say, "The LAW is a ASS!

    2. Franco,
Yet, it is the law that allows us to remain secure in our property and papers.

      My position: find balance.

I think that Dickens held that same position. See Hard Times (my favorite Dickens novel, BTW).

Open borders is a dangerous-in-the-extreme policy, and deporting every single illegal alien is both impractical and heartless -- and even economically unwise.

WE NEED A WAY TO SORT ALL THIS OUT. A LEGAL WAY!

There are a LOT of things I don't like about DISQUS –– it's completely hostile to posting poetry in a cherent form for instance –-, BUT it DOES provide HOT LINKS to articles cited AUTOMATICALLy, and best of all you as a blog manager can EXCLUDE hateful site vermin.

This kind of thing will be happening to my home state of Virginia sooner or later -- now that the Dems are in charge. Yet another reason I'm heading to Indiana!

  15. This is the most idiotic crap I ever heard. Trump needs to hammer the sponsors of this bill 24/7. Even actual community activists dont want dangerous criminals in the USA.

Sanctuary cities make our streets more dangerous. It is far safer to pick up criminals in jails than on the street. How many need to die for more bad ideas from the ledt
