Obama Launches 2012 Campaign

Not that the Campaigner-In-Chief hasn't been campaigning for re-election ever since inaugurated on January 20, 2009!

Nonethess, the official launch of Obama re-election campaign is today, with the campaign slogan "Forward!" That term is similar to Karl Marx's birthday and language used by Lenin and Mao. Make time to read that second link an essay by Daniel Greenfield!

How those of us who oppose Obama's re-election feel about the campaign slogan and the incumbent's "accomplishments" (hat tip to Woodsterman for the graphic below):

78 comments:

  1. BIGGER government (Kang) or BIGGER corporations (Kodos)...

    ...decisions, decisions.

    Hesiod, "Works and Days"

And now I will tell a fable for princes who themselves understand. Thus said the hawk to the nightingale with speckled neck, while he carried her high up among the clouds, gripped fast in his talons, and she, pierced by his crooked talons, cried pitifully. To her he spoke disdainfully: `Miserable thing, why do you cry out? One far stronger than you now holds you fast, and you must go wherever I take you, songstress as you are. And if I please I will make my meal of you, or let you go. He is a fool who tries to withstand the stronger, for he does not get the mastery and suffers pain besides his shame.' So said the swiftly flying hawk, the long- winged bird.

But you, Perses, listen to right and do not foster violence; for violence is bad for a poor man. Even the prosperous cannot easily bear its burden, but is weighed down under it when he has fallen into delusion. The better path is to go by on the other side towards justice; for Justice beats Outrage when she comes at length to the end of the race. But only when he has suffered does the fool learn this. For Oath keeps pace with wrong judgements. There is a noise when Justice is being dragged in the way where those who devour bribes and give sentence with crooked judgements, take her. And she, wrapped in mist, follows to the city and haunts of the people, weeping, and bringing mischief to men, even to such as have driven her forth in that they did not deal straightly with her.

But they who give straight judgements to strangers and to the men of the land, and go not aside from what is just, their city flourishes, and the people prosper in it: Peace, the nurse of children, is abroad in their land, and all-seeing Zeus never decrees cruel war against them. Neither famine nor disaster ever haunt men who do true justice; but light-heartedly they tend the fields which are all their care. The earth bears them victual in plenty, and on the mountains the oak bears acorns upon the top and bees in the midst. Their woolly sheep are laden with fleeces; their women bear children like their parents. They flourish continually with good things, and do not travel on ships, for the grain-giving earth bears them fruit.

But for those who practise violence and cruel deeds far-seeing Zeus, the son of Cronos, ordains a punishment. Often even a whole city suffers for a bad man who sins and devises presumptuous deeds, and the son of Cronos lays great trouble upon the people, famine and plague together, so that the men perish away, and their women do not bear children, and their houses become few, through the contriving of Olympian Zeus. And again, at another time, the son of Cronos either destroys their wide army, or their walls, or else makes an end of their ships on the sea.

You princes, mark well this punishment you also; for the deathless gods are near among men and mark all those who oppress their fellows with crooked judgements, and reck not the anger of the gods. For upon the bounteous earth Zeus has thrice ten thousand spirits, watchers of mortal men, and these keep watch on judgements and deeds of wrong as they roam, clothed in mist, all over the earth. And there is virgin Justice, the daughter of Zeus, who is honoured and reverenced among the gods who dwell on Olympus, and whenever anyone hurts her with lying slander, she sits beside her father, Zeus the son of Cronos, and tells him of men's wicked heart, until the people pay for the mad folly of their princes who, evilly minded, pervert judgement and give sentence crookedly. Keep watch against this, you princes, and make straight your judgements, you who devour bribes; put crooked judgements altogether from your thoughts.

He does mischief to himself who does mischief to another, and evil planned harms the plotter most.

The eye of Zeus, seeing all and understanding all, beholds these things too, if so he will, and fails not to mark what sort of justice is this that the city keeps within it. Now, therefore, may neither I myself be righteous among men, nor my son -- for then it is a bad thing to be righteous -- if indeed the unrighteous shall have the greater right. But I think that all-wise Zeus will not yet bring that to pass.

Thanks for posting those definitions of "froward." The word does have several nuances and connotations.

  19. It's an imperfect world, AoW. No doubt about that. But eventally, it IS self-correcting. Every perceived "good" practiced to "excess" will pass through a "tipping point" beyond which the perceived benefits will cease to accrue, and it's continued practice will actually induce greater and greater harm. Change is the only NECESSARY constant. And perhaps now, a change AWAY from ever bigger bureacratic and/or politically driven entities may be a necessary socio-economic emetic.

Perhaps after far too many spoonfuls of sugar, we NEED a dose of economic brimstone and treacle

  25. In that full-face view he looks a lot like Adam Sandler. No wonder the guy's movies keep bombing.

That Marxist types have gained control of most of our media is clearly apparent, given the tone of support for Obama and the complete lack of really honest and truthful reporting on him.

Fox News is supposedly a conservative and honest news network but they put out almost as much Socialist propaganda as CNN does. Where you really get dosed with it is in Fox's Latino section.

So I have my doubts about the upcoming election being an honeset or fair one. The last one certainly wasn't in any respect and this one won't be either. In fact I'll be very surprised if Obama doesn't get a second term. If the popular vote goes against him, the Eleotoral College will elect him anyway.

Our country's current direction will absolutely ensure that we will be attacked by one or more foreign powers when we are sufficiently weakened. History is never wrong.

I hope for Obama's defeat but I don't expect it.

  26. These are some very scathing criticisms and mockeries of Obama, and I can't say I disagree with any of them.

    never mind.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Obamacare sought to fund its dramatic expansion of government-sponsored health insurance by making cuts to the Medicare Advantage program, because on a per-beneficiary basis, Medicare Advantage plans are more expensive. “I believe in competition,” Obama’s former budget chief Peter Orszag said in 2009, as Peter Suderman notes. “I don’t believe in paying $1.30 to get a dollar.” (Medicare Advantage beneficiaries, it should be pointed out, typically gain a richer package of benefits than do those on traditional Medicare.) Plus, the Left doesn’t believe that private insurers have a role in the health-care system. It would be a win-win: cut out the extra payments to MA insurers, making it difficult for them to compete with traditional Medicare, and fund the coverage expansion with the savings.

...yep, nothing beats driving your competition out of business so that you can establish a monopoly, be it of a private OR public nature. II long for big corporations and even bigger government. Oh, wait... i sure hope I'm not turning into a fusion conservative, now...

  32. Yes, Obama has been campaigning since he took office but that has largely been on the taxpayers dime (and the most shameful, excessive and unprecedented amount).

But now he will start spending big on the same grass roots organization he used in 2008 to flood states like NC, VA, OH and such with paid "volunteers."

Meanwhile, for all I can see the GOP is still relying on that 20th Century model of campaigning relying mostly on real volunteers in key states.

I know that to any sane person it seems inevitable that when you consider Obama's record he will be defeated this fall. But don't underestimate the power that $1 billion in campaign spending can have to skew people's thinking on the issues.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I know he would like to announce a "Five Year Plan", but perhaps that would even be too much for this Marxist-wanna-be! He has surrounded himself with "fellow-travelers" and much of what comes out of the White House is just a reflection of their beliefs although they try their best to wrap it in the flag of what's normal for America. The average man in the street has little knowledge of Marx and Lenin and is completely igorant about the Obama's underlying plan for this country and looks at those who raise the warning as far-right nut cases. Obama's dream of a socialist Utopia will not be his downfall, but rather the economic health of the country the next few months. That will determine the outcome of this fall's vote. We see the wolf in sheep's clothes but most are blind to the real threat.

Clearly, Obama is trying to appeal to a wider base, particularly with his praise of the free market. Of course, from there, he basically preached class warfare, political partisanship, etc.

  38. Mustang,
Yes, I mean exactly what you said in your comment.

And he's putting on quite a show.

The question: will the American electorate be swept up in Obama's "enthusiastic" rhetoric? He is concentrating a lot on appeal to the people; a lot of listeners are very vulnerable to that particular flaw in logic.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yep, you're right about one thing, beamish, advocating FOR Medicare CUTS are the real mark of a TRUE conservative

Romney, just like you and your fellow totalitarian far leftists, has been programmed to respond to any cut in Medicare whatsoever as "grandma killing."

..oh wait...w/o Medicare Advantage, there would be less private free market alternatives to ObRomneyCare...

So Romney's getting his election time "scare the seniors" on because his fellow far leftists in the Tea Party "movement" demand a candidate that can out-Democrat a Democrat.

If you ever went to a Tea Party "movement" event hoping to bump shoulders with a conservative, you're too far removed from familiarity with conservatism to speak intelligibly on the topic.

Oh, wait... i sure hope I'm not turning into a fusion conservative, now...

  43. PART ONE

Walter WIlliams tells us to abandon hope. The jig is up. Obama's a shoo-in.

Can President Obama be defeated in 2012? No. He can't ...

I am going on record as saying that President Barak Obama will win a second term. The media won't tell you this because a good election campaign means hundreds of millions (or in Obama's case billions) of dollars to them in advertising. But the truth is, there simply are no conditions under which Barak Obama can be defeated in 2012.

The quality of the Republican candidate doesn't matter. Obama gets reelected.

Nine percent unemployment? No problem. Obama will win.

Gas prices moving toward five dollars a gallon? He still wins.

    The economy soars or goes into the gutter. Obama wins;

War in the Middle East ? He wins a second term.
America 's role as the leading Superpower disappears? Hurrah for Barak Obama!

The U.S. Government rushes toward bankruptcy, the dollar continues to sink on world markets and the price of daily goods and services soars due to inflation fueled by Obama's extraordinary deficit spending? Obama wins handily.

You are crazy Williams. Don't you understand how volatile politics can be when overall economic, government, and world conditions are declining?

Sure I do. And that's why I know Obama will win. The American people are notoriously ignorant of economics. And economics is the key to why Obama should be defeated.

Even when Obama's policies lead the nation to final ruin, the majority of the American people are going to believe the bait-and-switch tactics Obama and his supporters in th e media will use to explain why it isn't his fault. After all, things were much worse than understood when he took office.

  44. PART TWO

Obama's reelection is really a very, very simple math problem. Consider the following:

    1) Blacks will vote for Obama blindly. Period. Doesn't matter what he does. It's a race thing. He's one of us,

    2) College educated women will vote for Obama. Though they will be offended by this, they swoon at his oratory. It's really not more complex than that,

    3) Liberals will vote for Obama. He is their great hope,

    4) Democrats will vote for Obama. He is the leader of their party and his coat tails will carry them to victory nationwide,

    5) Hispanics will vote for Obama. He is the path to citizenship for those who are illegal and Hispanic leaders recognize the political clout they carry in the Democratic Party,

    6) Union members will vote overwhelmingly for Obama. He is their key to money and power in business, state and local politics,

    7) Big Business will support Obama. They already have. He has almost $1 Billion dollars in his reelection purse gained largely from his connections with Big Business and is gaining more every day. Big Business loves O bama because he gives them access to taxpayer money so long as they support his social and political agenda,

    8) The media love him. They may attack the people who work for him, but they love him. After all, to not love him would be racist,

    9) Most other minorities and special interest groups will vote for him. Oddly, the overwhelming majority of Jews and Muslims will support him because they won't vote Republican. American Indians will support him. Obviously homosexuals tend to vote Democratic. And lastly,

    10) Approximately half of independents will vote for Obama. And he doesn't need anywhere near that number because he has all of the groups previously mentioned.

The President will win an overwhelming victory in 2012. -- Dr. Walter Williams

IN ADDITION TO THE VOTING BLOCKS HE MENTIONS, THERE IS ANOTHER HUGE GROUP: THE NEARLY ONE-HALF OF ALL ADULTS DO NOT PAY ANY TAXES AND, IN FACT, MOST OF THEM RECEIVE MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT. THESE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO "SHAKE THE BOAT," TO DO ANYTHING THAT MIGHT STOP THE FLOW OF TAXPAYER MONEY TO THEMSELVES.

No, I'm just satisfied that Obama cut Medicare spending instead of increasing it. Unfortunately Obama hasn't eliminated Medicare entirely, but I'll at least acknowledge a step in that direction. If anything, Obama should be criticized for spreading the cuts over decades instead of yanking the plug immediately.

By "Medigap plan," I'm referring to a plan that limits the maximum annual out-of-pocket (about $7000/year); Medicare doesn't have a maximum annual out-of-pocket.

But Obama saved us from a depression, saved the banks and the auto industry who have paid back their bailout. GM is number 1 in the world again. Bush's bail out were outright gifts. Obama created more jobs in 2 years than Bush did in eight. The economy has grown every month since he's been in office. Bush increased the deficit by $5 trillion (2 wars off the books, Medicaid Part D unpaid for, tax cut to the wealthy unpaid for) Obama increased it (with the stimulus which saved us) by 1.3 trillion.

Give the economy back to the GOP and they'll finish the job of killing the middle class.

  71. In 2010, however, Congress, ravenous for revenue to fund Obamacare, included in the legislation a 2.3 percent tax on gross revenue — which generally amounts to about a 15 percent tax on most manufacturers’ profits — from U.S. sales of medical devices beginning in 2013.

  73. Glenn Beck's dubious link of the word, "forward" to various Communist's slogans is tenuous at best.

As much as I want to see absolute proof of Obama's Marxism, Beck's charge doesn't prove anything.

He selected the one word slogan for his campaign and it also happens to be a common word used in some Communist propaganda, but it is also likely to be used in some highly Conservative candidate's campaigns.

It is a coincidence. Nothing more.

    Would that it wasn't.
