Suppose you were the mayor of New York City —a rich bastard who touts conservative ideals but behaves as a Soros socialist. And then suppose you received a telephone call from the White House that went something like this: “As you know, I promised the American people fundamental change to our country. We are making important in-roads to achieving this by destroying every vestige of America’s fundamental institutions. So what I would like you to do is turn your head to an up-coming ‘Occupy Wall Street’ demonstration. I’ll make it worth your while.”
Did this conversation ever take place? Who knows? But what we do know is that the OWS crowd demonstrated in Zuccotti Park, owned by Brookfield Asset Management, a Canadian company. And we know that Brookfield Asset Management received a Department of Energy loan guarantee exceeding $160 million within ten days of agreeing to give up Zuccotti Park to the OWS crowd.
I know, I know … why on earth would the United States government provide loan guarantees to a foreign company with assets exceeding $150 billion dollars?
Could it be because Joe Biden’s son is an attorney for Brookfield Asset Management? Could it be because Mayor Bloomberg’s live-in girlfriend is a member of the board at Brookfield Asset Management?
Joe Biden thinks we don’t understand the progressive movement, but we do. Oh, yes, we do understand the progressive elite: the Joe Bidens, Ted Kennedys, and Nancy Pelosis. We understand life is good if you’re a corrupt politician. So I propose that we all reelect Barack Hussein Obama to the presidency because there’s just no such thing as too much hope and change.
Great post, Sam!

I see that Bloomberg is planning to ban large surgary drinks NYC restaurants, movie theaters and street carts. Not enough kickback to the coffers of NYC, I guess.
ReplyDeleteGimme a break. But of course it's OK becasue of 'Citizens United,' for a company with foreign entities to donate unlimited funds, anonymously, to a US political candidate which favors their concerns, right?

SORRY! That last post was supposed to read;

Sorry about that. It made no sense without the quotation at the top.

PS: For the record: I despise Nanny Bloomberg as much or more than anyone else who hates Tyranny as much as he loves Freedom of Choice and Freedom of Conscience.
ReplyDeleteNOTE THESE WORDS FROM A GREAT THEOLOGIAN:
"Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive.
It may be better to live under Robber Barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies.
The Robber Baron’s [perceived] cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
~ C.S. Lewis
That ought to give every one of us pause for thought, wouldn't you say?

"Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive."
ReplyDeleteA perfect definition of socialism.
Yes. Too much of a good thing is never enough.

Better fits the corporate right.
WoW! That was a brilliant piece of reporting. Kudos! That took some footwork.
ReplyDeleteCorruption in American politics is nothing new, it just seems to be so much more consistent than before. Considering that Obama's political rise was fueled by acts of corruption from the beginning, it should be no surprise to me that corruption is now spread thicker than peanut butter across the breadth (sorry, couldn't resist that) of his presidency.
Damned politicians!
ReplyDeleteI am not happy with either Party!
"I am not happy with either Party!"
ReplyDeleteThat certainly speaks very well for your understanding, Mr. AOW.
I couldn't agree more.
It's very sad when there's no one in power to turn to whom you feel you can trust to do the right thing anymore.
Even so, it's better to face reality than live with your head in the clouds.
Best of luck with your coming cataract surgery. I'm a veteran of eye surgery, myself, having had seven eye operations in eight years -- five of them on my right eye alone.
Just be sure to do exactly what they tell you for the first few weeks after the operation, and all should be fine.
Best,

The fundamental difference is that the media is quick to point out such corrupt practices by some on the right but tone deaf when it comes to the left. In fact in this case there is zero intellectual curiousity as the left attempts to suggest the occupy protestors was home grown.
ReplyDeleteThe democrats had no idea what they had unleashed and quickly found themsevles booed by the protestors. The democrats did not cast away the occupy protestors per se but decided to ignore them like red haired step children once it was clear the protestors were not poliing well....
In the words of Jeremiah Wright just wait for these chickens to come home to roost as the protestors descend on Charoltte, NC. The independents should just love the spectacle of human flith and stupidity on parade....
The State is already polling back into the Red, just wait until the Occupy Folks create traffic jam after traffic jam and then leave after having spread urine and feces over the city.
Let me understand this right. A so called conservative can tell me how much liquid I can intake and that's OK in a FREE society. What F***ing country is this???
ReplyDeleteAre we the land of the free or the land of the oppressed under the Obama administration and his cronies? It's their way or the highway, am I getting this straight??
ReplyDeleteMr. AOW's comments were short, sweet and to the point.
This nation is of the people, for the people and not supposed to be under tyrannical rule.
Rubbish!
Bloomberg is the epitome of Cicero's observation that "Politicians are not born, they're excreted."
ReplyDeleteFT,
ReplyDeleteJust be sure to do exactly what they tell you for the first few weeks after the operation, and all should be fine.
Mr. AOW and know that the restrictions for the first few weeks are going to be tricky. Today, we consult with the neurologist to see if she recommends some help with caregiving during that time. I'm not sure that I'm physically up to all that will be required. If I do too much lifting, I myself will end up in traction!
Love that Cicero quotation!
ReplyDelete"Politicians are not born, they're excreted."
Are the days of statesmen forever gone?
Woodsterman,
ReplyDeleteNot a day goes by that I don't lament, "America has gone over the cliff! We've lost the plot!"
Sam,
ReplyDeleteOrdering citizens around "for their own good" is a losing policy -- except for politicians and bureaucrats lining their pockets.
Somebody can tell me all day long to do this or that "for your own good." Even if it is something that I really do need to do. Unless I make up my own mind to do the good thing for my own good, I really won't do that good thing effectively -- and will look for a work-around every time.
I will admit that I'm probably more intractable than most people. After all, I AM a "determined German" (plus Welsh blood).
Black Sheep,
ReplyDeleteSam has brought something important -- and specific -- to our attention.
Where is the media coverage? Oh, well, never mind. **heavy sigh**
You guys are like the Keystone Cops, scrambling around looking for a reason to be mad and making shit up. In the process looking like bumbling fools running into walls.
ReplyDeleteEarth to wingnuts: The OWS movement is not a fan of Obama and has been critical of him.
Another important post. I have linked to it here: http://bobagard.blogspot.com/2012/06/socialist-connections.html

You, on the other hand, are only outraged by examples of corruption on the right.
This would either make you an idiot, or intellectually dishonest."
I guess this would make you a hypocrite, Mr. 'Libertarian' since we've yet to see you criticized anything but the left.
We are outraged by corruption on the right. But right now Mr. Obama along with his henchmen Pelosi and Reid are in control and they promised us the most ethical government in history. They promised us transparency. They promised bills would be available to the public. They promised lobbyists would not have jobs and easy access to this Administration. Please forgive our ignorant Keystone cops for not rolling over "in the morning" and saying that was great.
ReplyDeleteI already pointed out the Demos failed to grasp the motivations of the people they enlisted to protest and as a result they were booed by their own creation.
What exactly did we make up? Every association is public information as well as the money that officially changed hands. Need I remind you that the scanted association with Haliburton and liberals were all a twitter...
Earth to blogginator, Pelosi is not in control, it's Boehner. And were are the jobs the GOP promised us when the took the congress in 2010? No a single bill yet they filibustered every one of Obama's jobs bills. Get the facts before you spout.
ReplyDelete----Nancy Pelosi promised the “most ethical and honest Congress in history” and also promised to “drain the swamp” in Washington if Democrats where elected to the majority.
ReplyDeleteI referenced her because she made one of the most public and easily identifiable statements as to the intention of the Democrats to clean up the government...Do you deny she made these Statements?
Do you deny Obama also claimed he would clean up Washington?
To say Boehner is in charge implies that the Republicans could get a bill passed on their own which they cant not.
The Senate is controlled by Reid and they are supposed to initiate a budget and they have not for 1130+ days.
All Conservatives can do is filibuster the communist agenda. FYI they have proposed Bills but the Senate shoots them down.
I almost forgot....the news feed is reporting another financial scandal in the Obama Adminstration as GSA employers got paid for travel while working at home.
AOW maybe you should consider a job at the GSA---of course you will have to deal with those peesky quitly feelings...

In true political fashion, i forgot to address your questionregarding the 2010 Campaign platform of the Republicans
ReplyDeleteYeah point #1 in the pledge states Jobs will be the focus.....but the pledge goes to state the obstacle is the Democrat agenda put in place during the 2 years the Demo had a monopoly. I guess it would be obvious to even an 8 year old, the Republicans do not have a controlling interest in the Fed Government therefore the objective of overturning such UnConstituion bills had to be referred to the Courts and 26 States have petitioned the Supremes. Another what 11 States went the back door route and got waivers.
Early indications are that the Supremes will be spiking the Obamafrankenmesscare faster than the Democrats falling poll numbers..
While we talking about jobs and failed policies...how did that Porkulous thing work out? Obama promised the rate would not go above 8%. In true Obama fashion take everything he says and use the reverse...even the fixed numbers can not get below 8%..
You are sitting ina glass house on this topic..
Blogginator,
ReplyDelete.the news feed is reporting another financial scandal in the Obama Adminstration as GSA employers got paid for travel while working at home.
SIGH!
AOW maybe you should consider a job at the GSA...
As you alluded to, I wouldn't sleep at night. I couldn't live with STEALING the taxpayers' money!
The most recent employment figures should ruin Obama's chances for re-election. Note that I said "SHOULD."
Liberalmann,
ReplyDeleteYou are making a fool of yourself.
I leave your comments up on my web site ONLY BECAUSE I want my students to see just how stupid an Obama supporter can be.
Which is very, very effective. Its also kinda fun to chew them out- and good practice for later in life.
ReplyDeleteOn topic- Aye carumba. Am not surprised in the slightest... but the corruption is disguising. Goveermenets should never be paid off for anything... something that hasn't happened since God knows when
