Higher Education? (With Addendum)

Did you see Tucker Carlson's May 25 interview of Evergreen State College Professor Bret Weinstein, a self-declared Progressive?  Before reading the rest of this blog post, please watch the video — even if you don't like Tucker Carlson.  This time, Carlson allowed a guest to speak without constant interruptions.

"Activist students" at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, have now objected to the dissemination of the video to which Professor Weinstein alluded in the above interview with Tucker Carlson. No wonder! The students have been recorded and exposed for the maniacal fools they are! The video (if YouTube has not removed the video):

From NEW VIDEO: Madness reigns at Evergreen State College as students ‘take over (The College Fix, May 28, 2017):
A new video has surfaced of students this past week at Evergreen State College yelling and ranting about everything from “racist white teachers” and “white-ass administrators” to “black power!” during a so-called “meeting” with President George Bridges and other college administrators.

Apparently, the activists are not pleased that this recording made its way to the Internet at large.

One of the demands listed by Evergreen students, and addressed by President Bridges, is that something be done to resolve the “theft” of the video:

“We demand that the video created for Day of Absence and Day of Presence that was stolen by white supremacists and edited to expose and ridicule the students and staff be taken down by the administration by this Friday.”

Next steps:
Based on conversations with the Attorney General’s office, the most likely course of action requires an investigation. We commit to launching an extensive forensic investigation of the theft of this video and to determining who stole it from the student. If that investigation yields a suspect, we will seek criminal charges against the individual in consultation with the Attorney General....
Read the rest HERE, especially if the video has disappeared from YouTube.

Note that Wikipedia has removed the Wiki page Evergreen State College Racism Protests.

FYI: In 1999, Mumia Abu-Jamal was invited to deliver the keynote address by audiotape for the graduating class at the college..

Read more about The Evergreen State College HERE, including the following:
Full-time students enroll in interdisciplinary academic programs instead of classes. Programs typically offer students the opportunity to study several disciplines in a coordinated manner. Faculty write narrative evaluations of students' work in place of issuing grades.

Evergreen offers a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Bachelor of Science, Master of Environmental Studies, Master of Public Administration, and Master in Teaching. In 2016, there were 4,089 students, 3,787 of whom were undergraduates, and 229 faculty members....
Higher education today is a cesspool of let's-balkanize-America indoctrination. The same could be said of the mainstream media.

ADDENDUM

From the Washington Times, dated Mary 29, 2017: Evergreen State College president expresses ‘gratitude’ for students who took over campus.

Round these filthy, demented, ungrateful hoodlums up, and sentence them to LIFE in PRISON.

Ten years on a Chain Gang would make a good start.

Any teacher, administrator, clergy person, or "urinalist" who SUPPORTS these vermin should be sentenced to LIFE at HARD LABOR in a Maximum Security Penitentiary.

Eventually, dear friends it WILL come to that, if nothing is done to condemn this HUMAN GARBAGE, and put it in its place.

      Why, indeed!

Your assertion that the second amendment wasn't a personal right.

Your assertion that it was logical to support APGW even if it was unproven theory and then cutting and pasting in a bunch gobble de goop as if it were some form or method of logic.

Your assertion that Marx was a "prophet".

Your interpretation of Keynesian economics that probably left J M Keynes rolling in his grave with laughter.

Your assertion that Robert Frosts, "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening", was a poem about social responsibility. (i.e. You don't have the basic education to differentiate between I and we nor the semantic content thereof.)

Your assertion that the founders weren't concerned about the Federal government accruing too much power.

I could go on but it's pointless.

      Delete
    12. My goodness, none of that has any relevance to the topic of an immutable world view but let's look anyway:

      1. The 2nd amendment gives you the right to join a government militia. The rest is up for grabs.

      2. What is APGW?

      3. I do not consider Marx a prophet. I consider him to be an economist who understood that elements of industrial capitalism were incompatible with freedom.
I do believe an understanding of Marx is very useful in our current predicament. Unfortunately he was a lousy revolutionary who harmed the attempts to replace monopoly capitalism with a more human system.

      4. I believe Keynesian fiscal policy has largely failed because the right is unwilling to pass a reasonable graduated tax.
I doubt that has him rolling.

      5. First Frost expresses a need for contemplation of nature and reflection. Something we all need.
Now just what the promises the speaker must keep happen to be has been up for interpretation. You may substitute death for responsibilities if you like.

You must mean that as a leftist I emphasize economics and have an affinity to Beard's Economic Interpretation of the Constitution. It is long out of favor but worth reading. Elements are still valid.

      You turn.

#2 You prove my point again. The point is about your cut and paste logic. ( Hint, it wasn't logic but leftist made up crap.)

#3 Your exact quote was, "I consider Marx a Prophet". Quite a memorable quote, don't you think?

#4 Proves my point. You're only receptive of some leftist interpretation of what you believe Keynes said and not actually what he had to say.

#5 Entirely beside the point (and proves mine). You see the world through leftist beer goggles.

    15. That was quick. I see you brook no disagreements but that was the original premise.

There are certainly constitutional scholars who hold that opinion about the 2nd (Robert Bork). Just what my opinions on firearms are may surprise you but I do not believe they are all backstopped by that train wreck of a sentence we call the 2nd amendment.

What is your take on Keynesian fiscal policy?

I believe Marx's understanding of capitalism was prophetic, yes?
      So what.

I don't see the issue with my view on climate change. I'm not a climatologist (neither are you) but I do feel there is enough science
to act as a warning. I don't see why you consider it more prudent to ignore the issue unless it has something to due with a warped eschatology.

What is your read of the Frost poem and why do you seem to feel it's absolute? I' open to more than one interpretation.

Your turn. Try to bring your beliefs into the conversation.
