Over A Year To Go

The fundamental transformation of America

Just three of the consequences of twice electing to the Oval Office Barack Hussein Obama.

1.  The Affordable Care Act

2.  The Dream Act.

3.  Net Neutrality.

Commenters, feel free to add to the list.

  1. What's this?

    GOP finds its secret weapon:

...GOP lawmakers plan to employ the seldom-used Congressional Review Act (CRA), which gives lawmakers the power to formally disapprove of major agency rules, as they seek to ratchet up their attacks on federal red tape.

“There is widespread agreement among Republicans and the business community that the EPA under the Obama administration is out of control and it’s taking things to the extreme,” a senior aide to Inhofe said.

"The CRA has been used sparingly in the past and some folks may say it’s too aggressive, but frankly the aggressive nature of this administration's regulations demands an aggressive response."

Lawmakers have only struck down one rule under the Congressional Review Act in 43 attempts, according to the Government Accountability Office. In 2001, Republicans repealed the Clinton administration's controversial ergonomics rule aimed at curbing workplace injuries.

The window for action under the CRA is short; the law can only be used against a regulation in the first 60 days after it is enacted. But the disapproval resolutions cannot be filibustered, which means Republicans would only need a simple majority in both chambers to pass them....

Hmm, why would they be in favor of workplace injuries?

    2. BB-Idaho,
I doubt that Republicans are in favor of workplace injuries.

What were the provisions of the controversial ergonomics rule?

My own take on ergonomics...Some value therein, but not the panacea which is often portrayed. I speak from personal experience.

    3. Good grief! The ergonomics rule was 600 pages long! More information at the above link from Web MD.

    4. Progressives are ALWAYS conjuring up spurious, highly expensive "remedies" for problems many of which may not even EXIST.

When we oppose and reject their noxious, evil-smelling BS, they CHASTISE us for not wanting to "solve" a "serious" social or economic problem. This of course portrays "us" as "bad guys."

THIS is The Game they've been playing ever since the Dreadful Day "THEY" arrived on the scene to FIX our little red wagons good and proper.

I hope and pray every day that every one of these perverted, demented illegitimate creatures winds up spending Eternity in Hades.

Obviously, everything that he touches turns to pure $#!t . While there are many things that can be added to this list, one glaring thing to me is:

    4. The total shredding of the United States Constitution.

  4. The placing of Valerie Jarrett as the real head of our government, and who ever else pulls her string.

  5. I'm with Bunk on this one. Odumbo is a nobody that does nothing. It's the puppet masters we should fear.

  7. Dream Act? It predates Obama. It's worth remembering that American history doesn't begin in 2008.

Net Neutrality? I'm not sure why the right wing objects. I sense it is a belief that this allows the government to regulate content. No, it doesn't but the right may wish to study up on the history of public communications utilities like Western Union and get a perspective beyond Obama Derangement Syndrome.

Affordable Care Act? All increases in insurance premiums are blamed on the act and that irresponsible reporting prevents a balanced discussion.

I'd include the bungling in the Middle East but that failure also has a long history the predates Obama.
A lot of this goes back to Reagan's hysteria about government but the extreme reaction to Obama has some of its origins elsewhere.

    3. Western Union because it's best to start at the beginning.

    4. Why not start with the railroads then? We all know what "}{fair freight rates" did for them. How big is AMTRAK's subsidy?

btw - How are city transportation systems doing now that all the street cars, bus systems and subways have been "publicized". And what will the new "high? speed train to nowhere" cost Californians?

    5. Regulate UBER, the Taxi Drivers scream. Can't have riders getting a cheaper ride anywhere!

As for net neutrality, Bob handles it well.

As for the ACA, my poor sister got stuck on CaliforniaCare....her premiums have gone up $75 in 3 months (from last year to this) and her copy went from $45 to 65. What happens when experts who have no dog in the race tell the truth and nobody listened.

    1. I saw that news!

So, now what will be done with these liars, these perjurers?

The ACA is grinding down a lot of people -- hard working people -- and has put them on the road to serfdom. The redistribution of wealth, huh?

      Delete
    2. Are you saying that insurance premium increases are unique to the ACA?
      Clearly inaccurate.

      Delete
    3. Duck,
      No, I'm not saying that.

However, the ACA was supposed to prevent such precipitous rises in premiums. The ACA hasn't done so at all -- and doctors have fled as well. Concierge service is one solution for keeping one's own doctor, and many who can afford that concierge service have signed up. They got to keep their doctors -- at a price, of course.

    4. Isn't there an upcoming SCOTUS case which might do away with subsidies for health insurance premiums? Will people who cannot afford insurance without a subsidy then be required to buy insurance? If so, how is that going to work?

      Delete
    5. The upcoming case can potentially cause a lot of dislocation.
It's interesting that the plaintiffs don't have any standing other than disliking Obama and were recruited by a right wing group intent on crippling the act. A couple of the plaintiffs didn't even know the suit was headed for SCOTUS.
One actually has insurance through an exchange.

I have to disagree, AOW, the ACA was heavily criticized initially by the left for doing nothing to control medical costs.

Dislocation? Well, that's one way of putting it. People might be "living under the bridge"!

    7. Dislocation? Millions lost coverage with the initiation of Obamacare regulations. Where was the Left's concern for them, then?

  9. AOW, that's exactly right. My sister signed up only maybe five months ago and got her premium amounts, copy amounts, etc. To have gone up already is ludicrous, not typical, and a fault of this joke healthcare plan they call "affordable." The problem here is that if you're not covered by your employer or on Medicare or can't afford concierge, you HAVE to go on CaliforniaCare.

Yes, those who have enough money can keep their doctors...those who don't, can't. As a matter of fact, my sis just left me a phone message that she'd driven to her specialist only to find he does not take her insurance (she'd first seen him in the hospital and wasn't told) and her partner does, but they'd made an appt with the non-covering doc so she had to drive home without the information she needed. She's not alone..this is bad.

    1. Z,
With my grandfathered-in policy, I saw my 2014 premium rate soar by about 30%. My 2015 premium rate dropped from that point by about 8% ($20).

Mr. AOW and I can afford our internist's concierge care because it's only $40.50 per patient. Our internist has been our personal doctor since 1989 and is well established. He hates ObamaCare because of all the digital requirements. Our doctor is not computer oriented!

Finding providers can be problematic with any insurance policy, but provider availability is worse since the ACA came along.

  10. AOW, Those three are the big ones.

    I'll add:
    - a massive escalation in racism from blacks to whites.
    - massively destabilized middle east
    - probably a middle class that will cease to exist because of the massive requirement for federal revenue to fund the 3 things you listed.
    - the precedent that presidents can act like dictators and get away with it.
    - that the legislative and executive branch can commit treason and attack the American citizen (IRS for example) that seems accepted more or less. Who is doing anything substantive about Any of this? Nobody.

IMO, there is a good chance that the next administration -- Dem or GOP -- will do the same. Our governance will turn into one-ups-manship unless, of course, the next administration has scruples. Do any politicians have scruples?
