  1. One of my favorite post-Romantic, semi-programmatic orchestral works! A great triumph of Holst's vivid Imagination, and superb skill in colorful and dramatic orchestration.

As you may remember I posted this, myself fewyers ago.

Gustav Holst may not b regarded as one of the greatest composers –– certaainly not in a class with J.S. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, et al. but high ranking among the best Western Music has hd to offer.

Back my teaching days, kids almost invariably loved it.

The Planets succeed in being mysterious, scintillating, awe-inspiring, cheering and encouraging. Gives most listeners a sense of Wonder and makes them feel glad to be alive.

Thanks fo posting this stimulating, remarkably brilliant staple of the orchestral concert repetoire.

  3. I cn't elp but think it's a crying shame that the very BEST item you offer, AOW, remain largely IGNORED.

But that's is true of our entire BENIGHTED, PERVERTED, even DEPRAVED popular culture.

    1. Franco,
That's the way it is. **sigh**

But maybe more people watch and listen than comment.
