Facts are stubborn things ...

There is nothing I could ever say as well as this short testimony by Dr. Karen Kenny.

  1. From Breitbart's Big Government:

Campaign finance zealots and free speech regulators have sought to stifle the freedom of conservative organizations, such as the Tea Party, by falsely claiming they are “political” while giving a pass to leftist groups that still enjoy unimpaired 501(c) IRS tax-exempt status. As the IRS attacked Tea Party groups, it left hundreds of leftist activist groups alone. A quick review of just eight of those leftist, tax-exempt activist groups demonstrates the IRS's hypocrisy....

    See a short list HERE.

How much did the IRS's targeting of groups opposed to Obama's policies and re-election influence the 2012 election results?

Looking to the future, we need to ask the following: What is going to be done to rein in the IRS from ever doing such a thing again?

In 2014, the IRS will, if unchecked right now, oversee the administration and implementation of ObamaCare.

The words uttered yesterday by Democratic Jim McDermott -- and the follow up by Paul Ryan -- provide an important clue as to the dangerous road that America is on with regard to suppression of political freedom.

  2. Meanwhile, Obama's IRS restored tax-exempt status for Hamas-linked CAIR despite years of delinquent filings.

  7. Well, well, well:

A pair of new polls indicated that Americans are questioning President Barack Obama's honesty in the wake of the Internal Revenue Service targeting scandal.

The latest Bloomberg National Poll released Tuesday evening showed that 47 percent of Americans don't believe Obama's claim that he wasn't aware the IRS was targeting conservative groups for additional scrutiny, while 40 percent believe he is telling the truth.

Meanwhile, an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll released early Wednesday showed that 55 percent of Americans believe the agency's improper targeting raises doubts about the Obama administration's honesty and integrity....

On the other hand, I endured a few minutes of Rachel Maddow's show last night. Good grief! Such dripping sarcasm toward the Congressional investigation of IRS and such sycophancy toward Obama. This may help to explain the rest of the article I just linked in this comment:

But the same NBC/WSJ poll found that only 33 percent believe Obama is "totally" or "mainly" responsible for the targeting. It also showed the President's approval rating holding steady since the previous NBC/WSJ poll in April.

Obama will, no doubt, employ to good advantage the concept of plausible deniability. Whom will he toss under the bus so that he can remain "The One"?

  8. So B.O. strikes back at America with utter contempt.

  11. Rep. Jim McDermott certainly did show his ass. The question remains, if these the Obama administration penalized these grass roots organization for harboring an ideological bias, then why were the Center for American Progress and Move-on org granted tax exempt status? Hardly anything in this country is more partisan or agenda driven than those "Soros" based organizations.

  12. Yeah, Karen, the IRS should simply have let hundreds of Bagger groups get used for deductions, tax exemptions and money laundering without investigation.

You and the rest of your posse just wanted to serve a public good. You weren't electioneering. Hell no.

Both sides lose in this clown show.

    We are a sorry people.

  13. Duck,
The 501(c)(4) itself may be a problem -- if I understand that exemption. But the provisions of the 501(c)(4) are what they are and are used by those all across the political spectrum:

501(c)(4) organizations are generally civic leagues and other corporations operated exclusively for the promotion of "social welfare", such as civics and civics issues, or local associations of employees with membership limited to a designated company or people in a particular municipality or neighborhood, and with net earnings devoted exclusively to charitable, educational, or recreational purposes. An organization is operated exclusively for the promotion of social welfare if it is primarily engaged in promoting the common good and general welfare of the people of the community.

501(c)(4) organizations may inform the public on controversial subjects and attempt to influence legislation relevant to its program and, unlike 501(c)(3) organizations, they may also participate in political campaigns and elections, as long as its primary activity is the promotion of social welfare. However, 501(c)(4) organizations are not permitted direct or indirect participation or intervention in political campaigns on behalf of, or in opposition to any candidate for public office. The tax exemption for 501(c)(4) organizations applies to most of their operations, but contributions may be subject to gift tax, and income spent on political activities - generally the advocacy of a particular candidate in an election - is taxable.

Contributions to 501(c)(4) organizations are usually not deductible as charitable contributions for U.S. federal income tax, with a few exceptions. 501(c)(4) organizations are not required to disclose their donors publicly.

The lack of disclosure has led to extensive use of the 501(c)(4) provisions for organizations that are actively involved in lobbying, and has become controversial.] Criticized as "dark money," spending from these organizations on political TV ads has exceeded spending from Super PACs.]

The origins of 501(c)(4) organizations date back to the Revenue Act of 1913, which created a new group of tax-exempt organizations dedicated to social welfare in a precursor to what is now Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(4).

The uproar right now is all about whether or not groups with specific words such as "patriot" and "tea" were prevented from forming while, at the same time, other left-learning groups were given the green light.

501(c)(28) — National Railroad Retirement Investment Trust

501(c)(29) — Qualified Nonprofit Health Insurance Issuers (Created in section 1322(h)(1) of the Affordable Care Act)

    WHAT A LIST!

The purpose, of course, is as follows:

A 501(c) organization, also known colloquially as either a 501(c) or a "nonprofit", is an American tax-exempt nonprofit organization. Section 501(c) of the United States Internal Revenue Code (26 U.S.C. § 501(c)) provides that 28 types of nonprofit organizations are exempt from some federal income taxes. Sections 503 through 505 set out the requirements for attaining such exemptions. Many states refer to Section 501(c) for definitions of organizations exempt from state taxation as well.

  15. More proof of your intellectual dishonesty, Ducky? Ban the Tea Party Groups, but allow all your lefty organizations to stand pat; the left has a worthwhile position, the right does not? You are pathetic.

  19. Nostradumbass, do go ahead and continue to post your hyperpartisan ridicules screeds as to why you sickening leftists should be aloud special privilege.

However much you paid for an education, you were cheated!

  20. I doubt that Ducky was cheated, Warren, nor is he stupid. He got what he paid for -- a thorough grounding in LEFTIST ideology.

He is a True Believer in Marxist precepts, though he denies it vehemently by saying we have "no idea" what Marxism is -- as all modern leftists do.

I am sure, however, that Ducky knows EXACLY what he's doing and why.

He's a highly skilled practitioner of Critical Theory -- the inimical concept dreamt up by The Frankfurt School that advises its adherent to be forever on the attack and never never never let Christian Doctrine, Logic, Reason or the tried and true precepts of Middle-Class Morality discourage you from your relentless determination to "DECONSTRUCT" Civilization and rebuild it using the Marxian model.

It may come as a shock, but our Ducky is SINCERE.

He KNOWS his way is RIGHT and ours is WRONG, and that's all there is to it.

I am sure after knowing him for over ten years that he MEANS well.
