My bridal bouquet included lavender roses.
My maid of honor, my only attendant, wore a lavender dress.
The wedding cake, made with extra butter, was decorated with lavender roses.
Even the rice was dyed lavender.
Yes, everywhere lavender thirty-nine years ago on June 17, 1972:
The lavender rose is often a sign of enchantment and love at first sight. Those who have been enraptured by feelings of love and adoration have used lavender roses to express their romantic feelings and intentions.Since September 15, 2009, Mr. AOW and I have endured many losses. But today we celebrate life — and our life together.
Joan Didion wrote in The Year of Magical Thinking:
"Life changes fast. Life changes in the instant."In other words, make time to cherish your beloved.
Mr. AOW and I know that lesson well.

A very Happy Anniversary to you both!!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. Thank you for reminding us what's important.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you and Mr. AOW.
So as to avoid the Friday-evening crowd and because Cameo is still unwell, Mr. AOW and I went to Outback Steakhouse on Wednesday night. We indulged in strawberry daiquiris (one each), a Bloomin' Onion, steak, lobster, baked potato, salad, and raspberry cheesecake. The amount served was plentiful, so we brought home part of the onion and some of the steak and salad. We'll have another "official" anniversary dinner this evening. Best of all, I merely have to microwave the meal. No cooking!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! June was always the tradional wedding month. (Mine-June
ReplyDelete12, 1965...and I don't think the color lavender had been invented yet!)

ReplyDeleteBy the way, I don't think I have never seen lavender roses, though I love both the color and flower. How beautiful!
Lavender roses are rare -- some kind of hybrid, I think.

ReplyDeleteGM,
ReplyDeleteAs those stricken by thalamic hemorrhages, Mr. AOW spends a lot of time sleeping.
But when he's awake, he's cognizant and optimistic. We so enjoy each other's company -- even though so many of the dreams we had for our retirement years are long gone.
Happy Anniversary! I know recent months have been very difficult with the care of your spouse. But your marriage has made it for the long haul, and for that I send along a cheer.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Tammy
I hope you had a wonderful anniversary!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post, AOW. Thank you for sharing with us. Happy Anniversary, my dear friend.
