The 2019 SOTU

The House Chamber
The 2019 State of the Union Speech is underway tonight, albeit a few weeks later than usual.

I admit that I'm looking forward to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's facial expressions during the speech.   A sort of "Will she or won't she?"  Heh.

BTW, you might notice a lot of white outfits at the 2019 SOTU:

  1. One good thing:
Maxine Waters will not be there.

  2. Really looking forward to the SOTU mega BS from the POTUS at 9:00 PM EST tonight. Sure to delight and tickle the fancy of fake conservatives and republicans across the fruits plains.

    2. I'm sure it is, Ed. I'm morally certain I know who that poor soul is, and believe me I wouldn't have his life for all the gold in Fort Knox.

There must be a scientific name for people who derive emotional satisfaction from making themselves a bloody nuisance. It's almost as though they get a sexual thrill out of knowing they have made themselves an object of contempt and loathing.

The dems can't stay in their seat!
    They can't not applaud Trump!

    1. I'm here, Ed.

I'm trying to figure out why he spent so much time on anti-semitism when he failed to call out the white supremacists in Charlottesville and failed to acknowledge the white supremacist in the Pittsburgh shooting.

Guess he knocked that out of the park, eh?

    2. @ Ducky

It may be a more sophisticated strategy to ignore the hate-filled, violence prone Democrats ... the KKK Party ... rather than giving them free press coverage. Ducky, I think you are stuck in a very bad place. Ferguson happened on Obama's watch; was he a white supremist too? In fact, all the "great" race riots happened during a Democratic Administraiton since 1943, save one ... Under Bush the Elder, who was almost a Democrat. Yeah, you lefty-loosey guys are hitting it out of the park.

    3. ducky, why would the fact that Trump trumpets his own subjective "victimhood status" (Jewish kids/grandkids) more loudly than any others in the intersectional victimhood Olympics surprise you? I thought that THAT is what Democrats had deemed "righteous".

    4. The KKK party, cute. I don't see the point of bringing up the history of the Dixiecrats. Your mind is closed.

Ferguson is simply an example of a minority city being milked for the benefit of the forces of law and order.
Conservative America has a long history of resisting attempts to improve the urban crisis to the point where the effort has been abandoned.

KKK party? That's the best you have? Deep.

    5. ...we can now call VA a "minority state being milked for the forces of law and order." ...and the DNC.

  5. He did such a good job....have to laugh at the white-dressed Dem ... they think they're feminists but the true feminists are Conservative women who realize they truly are equal so they wear their regular clothes. Very proud of them...as usual.

Disappointed in Stacy Abrams' rebuttal, tho I found her articulate and passionate and quite bright...and wrong. She claimed children in cages by Trump when the whole planet should know by now that it was an Obama thing.....she claimed voter suppression lost her the election; it did not. But not bad....

Trump? Best speech ever. Love hearing him talk about the greatness of America in 100 ways and the Left only standing maybe for four of them. Hilarious to see them squirm "should I stand for THAT?" Nasty, sour, disdainful people...loved watching Schumer staring at the monitor and reacting when HE was on :-)

Good job, DJT.....amazing way of illustrating his points with meaningful guests.

      Best speech ever.

      I must agree.

I didn't bother watching the rebuttal by election-loser Abrams. Gotta watch my blood pressure, you know.

  6. I’ll be trying to read the transcript today. But let’s face it…..it’s not a State of the Union….it’s a campaign speech.

    1. CI,
IMO, some campaigning, but not nearly as much as I expected.

I always read the transcript. But I also find it important to watch the SOTU so as to see how those in the House Chamber react.

    2. I don’t find it important whatsoever, it’s a clown show with theatrics and virtue signaling every year, framed by the viewers bias. Harris “scowled”? I could care less. I care about policy prompt and where my tax dollars are going.

The SOTU delivery before Congress is an financial extravagance and episode of trash TV that we should all be ashamed of.

      Delete
    3. CI,
      Obviously, we don't agree completely.

Question: have you always been this adamant -- regardless of the POTUS in office.

      Delete
    4. The entire event is posted at my blog, CI. Why don't you WATCH it before passing judgment on it?

      Delete
    5. I think you’re confused FT, I’m not passing judgement on Trump’s SOTU......I’m passing judgement on the need for a televised delivery of what has with each passing year, become more political rally than the actual state of our union. There is so much taxpayer funding for this event, and so little actual substance, that we should be ashamed at offering up a national circus where the only beneficiaries are the media and sock puppet pundit cabal.

I prefer to READ the SOTU address, because I don’t need to be entertained by politicians. Though I do understand the appeal for people who get emotional gratification from political theater.

AOW - I have certainly become more adamant as time goes on, and these events become more ridiculous. Sadly, the only SOTU addresses I would have been interested to view, were likely Reagan’s........where I was not terribly politically aware during his first term, and overseas during his second.

    6. The SOTU speech has always been a list of what's happened the last year and what's planned for next year; what, why, how, when, etc...and every president does it. that Trump did it and his points were excellent doesn't make it more a campaign speech than any other's but it makes people feel good to call it that. Good way to ignore the good in what's happening, how good it is to actually be a patriot, remember that we need to transcend division and work together, and protect our country.....I'm no fan of Trump Rhetoric but this was a SOTU speech any president would be proud to have given.

      Delete
    7. Does it make you feel good to call it excellent and act like you have some sort of monopoly on patriotism? It's interesting that you can only see this through the lens that it's Trump's speech, instead of the larger picture.

Te SOTU is Bread and circuses, and the intent is a wild success.....

    8. I agree with CI one one point. Its a kabuki circus. I gave up watching them years ago back when W was president. Even back when I liked him, I couldn't stand to watch him speak. He came off like a constipated chimp with a tack in his shoe.

I hate political theater. Since the entire DC Blob is screaming at the President to not leave Afghanistan, they all should do the nation a favor and pack up the government lock, stock and stinking barrels and move to Kabul. The quicker the better.

      Delete
    9. Nah, Kabul is too nice [so to speak], let's send them to Mazar or J-Bad.

    10. To be sure, I have advocate ID for a written State of the Union. I don't prefer the televised spectacles.
However, having said that., that doesn't mean I can't watch it regardless and enjoy it the way I did last night.
Trump owned the Democrats and that was just too much fun to watch.

    11. Ed,
Trump owned the Democrats and that was just too much fun to watch.

      No doubt about it.

I see in the WaPo this evening something about how the Dems are concerned that they may not have smooth sailing, after all -- because of the SOTU.

      Delete
    12. CI: J-bad? I wouldn't even wish that on them. I have stories about the PRT there, Marine at the time. We were working on equipment across the runway and right next to the highway and it was getting dark, men in trucks kept driving by and looking at us... We ended up getting the hell out of there before the sun set. The only thing that saved us, I think, is that we were right next to a SF compound.

I hate that whole part of the world, and the ME also, and I hope my kids never have to go there. We don't belong there.

  7. Pelosi -- her various facial expressions, her "perusing" those papers she had i hand, her continuing to stand when she should have gone back to sitting down -- didn't disappoint.

I also found it revealing how much support the Virginia governor's proposed execution of newborns got from the Dems in attendance.

  8. A sterling moment from last night's SOTU:

"Great nations do not fight endless wars."

    ReplyDelete
  9. And this important moment:

“No issue better illustrates the divide between America’s working-class and America’s political class than illegal immigration. Wealthy politicians and donors push for open borders, while living their lives behind walls and gates and guards.”

    ReplyDelete
  10. My response to Democrat's rebuttal to the 2019 SOTUS: Stacy Abrams is a race-baiting social justice warrior. She along with her fellow Dems want wide open-borders, they want to continue their slaughter of babies---born/and unborn, they want more illegals voting in our elections, ...and they want to abolish the electoral college in hopes of a pure mob-rule democracy---giving way to more violence and intimidation in connection to our election process. Abrams and her fellow Democrats are without question anti-American and anti-Constitutional. They are not for the American people, period. The Left/Democrats are now out front; they are all "Community Organizers" for their power only, they have no plans, no hope, and no sense to any of their arguments

    1. I can't disagree, Beak, but we do ourselves a disservice if we fail to give the Devil his due. Ms Abrams is articulate, very well-spoken. Like Barri and Mickey Obama her speech contains no trace of typical "ebonic" accent. And for a too-large element in American society today she is sufficiently dynamic and ebullient to be called "charismatic."

That said, her speech consisted largely of the standard clichés leftists have used for decades to present themselves as "HEROIC VICTIMS" of an "Oppressive White Male Patriarchal society."

Her speech, while delivered very well, was OBVIOUSLY written days –– possibly even WEEKS –– before President Trump delivered his remarks last night, because IN NO WAY were Abrams's assertions either responsive or relevant to President Trump's address.

It seems that Ms Abnrams must be living in a PARALLEL UNIVERSE.

She has MENTALLY SEGREGATED HERSELF from the still-dominant white, Christan culture that best characterizes what it means to be an AMERICAN.

    2. Franco,
her speech consisted largely of the standard clichés

I suspect that she wrote the speech well in advance -- not in response to what the POTUS said.

    3. If there was a speech full of cliches and half truths it was Trump's.

  12. The State of the Union was a celebration of ordinary heroism, from the police officer dashing under fire to stop a Neo-Nazi killer massacring Jews in a Pittsburgh house of worship to the Holocaust survivor helping the American G.I. who liberated his concentration camp back into his seat. It honored three generations, the daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter of a loving couple murdered by an illegal alien in Reno and an immigrant fighting sex trafficking with the ICE.

And it was also a call to champion the policies that honor their heroism, from resisting the modern Nazis of Iran, who like the Hitlerian hordes plot the mass murder of millions of Jews, to building a wall that ends the abuse of Americans through an endless traffi

    1. Great thoughts, Steve...well said. I loved when he quoted the Jew who said "American soldiers were proof God exists." Clearly, our soldiers are no gods, but everything behind that statement, the freeing of Jews from camps, the way we help in natural disasters, etc.....I'm sure a lot of people the world over have had that thought. I loved it.

  13. Polls showing Americans very much approved of this speech...even CBS and CNN had to print the truth in their own polls this time.

Here's what Trump did and why the media's pretty much concentrating on Tiffany Trump's white outfit instead of what Trump talked about is:

  17. Because Trump lied.

    He said:
Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments before birth.

    The Truth:
New York state’s new abortion law in no way allows such a scenario. The law only allows abortions up to term if it’s “necessary to protect the [mother]’s life or health” and in “absence of fetal viability.” This means such an abortion is only allowed when the fetus is definitely not going to survive birth or the remainder of the pregnancy.

Trump's speech will be forgotten in a few days. In fact today, the next day, he's contraindicating himself already. You think he actually understands what he is told to read. He doesn't give a shit about anyone or anything but himself.

But Pelosi's sarcastic applause will be remembered forever, LOL!
