Just Say Hugs

by Sam Huntington

Where do thugs come from? They begin from tawdry, lustful relationships in which one or both parents turn away from their responsibilities as parents. This comes as no surprise, at least not to me, when there wasn’t very much responsibility displayed in the consummation of that sordid liaison to begin with. Or they spring forth from the loins of individuals who are having babies when they are still babies themselves. It is common to find that such parents, usually single mothers, begin to resent the children for their own cheap behavior. There afterwards begins detachment away from the children, who have become a pain in the ass, which only makes the children themselves feel less valued. The cycle repeats.

And what is the solution on the left for this unhappy relationship. Well, for starters, we must give hugs to thugs, to make them feel that even though we deplore their thuggish behavior, we really do love them. I’m finding it hard to understand how any responsible citizen, or any conscientious community can overlook such things as assaults upon the elderly, rape, robbery, and murder —all because an idiot mother gave birth to a cretin and dropped it on its head during the birthing process. I actually favor a more straightforward approach: shoot a thug.

Not everyone agrees, of course —which is why we have a thug problem to begin with. I call these people “thug-enablers.” They realize, living in the upper class neighborhoods, driving their Mercedes-Benz coupe or the upscale BMW, that thuggery is someone else's problem. The only time they even hear about thuggery, is from what they read in the newspaper or see on the 6:00 o’clock news. I’m talking about such idiots as Dr. Katherine Covell, who beyond ripping off the taxpayer as a college professor is also an advisor to the UN Thug Enablement Program for North America.

Covell isn’t the only idiot, of course: she’s only helping to lead the charge. Chicago Police also proclaim “Hug-a-Thug” successful. A recent news article reported, “Charles Perry of the West Side Health Authority, who turned his life around after serving 20 years in prison for drug and weapons convictions, now works with police"… Well no kidding. After 20 years in prison, Mr. Perry should have turned his life around. As far as the police are concerned, I presume they know what they are talking about because they are, after all, among the worst thugs in police uniform on the entire planet. This notion of hugging thugs is about as inane as Nancy Reagan’s “Just Say No” campaign —which hasn’t worked, apparently.

The fact is that community and family dysfunction is nothing new. Criminal behavior is not new. What is new, in terms of history (pick any country) is the growth of populations and the attendant statistical increase in incidents of crime. Communities used to hang thugs, but then someone suggested that hanging reprobates isn’t very humane. Then, someone came up with the idea of rounding thugs up, placing them aboard ship, and sending them away to new, uncharted continents. That too, was branded as inhumane. So governments began building prisons, but prisons are too harsh for thugs with damaged egos. Here’s an idea: let’s give criminals a hug, instead.

It is enough to make you wonder what happened to common sense.

The new conventional wisdom suggests that if anyone wants to have law-abiding communities, then people living within those communities must respect the behaviors of juvenile delinquents who think that knockout is a great pastime, especially when directed toward elderly white people. After all, it isn’t their fault that they have idiots for parents —and this is absolutely true. It is also not my fault; I didn’t raise any criminals.

I can’t speak for the people of Baltimore, or Metropolitan Chicago, or east side LA … I can only speak for myself. If any of these unloved children break into my home in the middle of the night, if they attempt to carjack my vehicle, or rob me on the street, I will shoot them; not just shoot them, I will empty my entire clip of ammo into their hug-starved bodies —and I won’t feel the least bit regret in doing so. Why? Because in reducing the criminal population by one or two, I will be in the running for the much coveted citizen of the year award —in responsible communities.

  1. Once a certain line has been crossed by a thug or a wannabe thug, the time for hugs has ended.

In my experience, thugs are not always caused by family dysfunction, nor do dysfunctional families or single mothers always produce thugs. I've also seen cases indicating that community was not the cause of thuggery.

The above said, reasons given in this blog post are indeed often the causes -- or at least the correlation is so strong as to seem the reasons.

To a certain extent, I subscribe to the theory of evil genes.

It seems to me that hugging a thug -- a real thug -- serves only to motivate the thug to perpetrate further mayhem. Thuggery itself, at some point, becomes the reward to such behavior.

IMO, those who really want to understand thuggery need to live with thugs to gain a real understanding of what's going on.

  2. Question: What role does the church have in curbing thuggery?

It has been found that only two things can "reform" a sociopath, a specific type of thug: a particular therapy (I can't recall the name right now) and "a religious experience."

  3. BRAVADO

    Defiant or swaggering behavior:

A pretense of courage; a false show of bravery.

A disposition toward showy defiance or false expressions of courage.

A vaunted display of courage or self-confidence; swagger

Confident or brave talk or behavior intended to impress other people

We should strive to prevent our courage from degenerating to mere bravado.

  4. "...I will empty my entire clip of ammo into their hug-starved bodies."

This line just brought a smile to my morning. Infringe upon my safety or that of my family? Forfeit your life. Sounds fair to me.

  5. Determining who is a racist is actually quite easy to do. It's the person who first brings up the topic of racism.

    1. The argument pairing self-defense with racism is about as lucid as any other comment made here by progressives. This isn’t their fault, however. There is not one example of articulation in the entire progressive platform. The problem, it seems, is that progressives do not even believe their own tripe … otherwise, Obama would fly over to Russia in his luxury jet and give Putin a nice warm hug.

  6. How about we give thugs a hug with a car crusher? It seemed to work pretty well in the James Bond Film, Goldfinger.

  7. Hugs for Thugs and Just Say No …

Damn if it doesn’t sound much like a rap lyric on a Geico commercial. One thing becomes clear after reading some of the responses on the left, though. This country has turned into a bunch of pansies. Now if the American people no longer have the stomach to protect their own persons and those of their family, or their property, expect to be robbed, beaten, raped, or murdered. Gutless wonders …

  10. Talking about "THUGS" nobody mentioned that the President’s nominee to head the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Justice Department. went down in flames!
The nominee, and “THUG” Debo P. Adegbile, who is also a Cop-Killer Advocate was litigation director of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund when it represented the Murdering SOB Mumia Abu-Jamal on an appeal of his death sentence for killing a Philadelphia police officer decades ago. He could not overcome a campaign by Republicans, conservative activists and law enforcement organizations still infuriated by the murder of the officer, Daniel Faulkner.
But it was the votes of seven Democratic senators to reject Mr. Adegbile that doomed the nomination despite what White House officials described as a sustained closed-door effort by Mr. Obama and his top aides to save it. The president personally appealed to Senate Democrats at a recent caucus meeting and made several calls to Democratic senators in the last week,
But the Republicans argued that the “THUG” Adegbile was “unfit to serve” because of his legal work in support of Mumia Abu-Jamal, who was convicted in 1981 of killing Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner.

The “THUG” Adegbile was the director of litigation for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund when it worked to commute Abu-Jamal’s death sentence. Faulkner’s widow, the Fraternal Order of Police and Republicans argued this should disqualify him from the Justice job, while supporters warned a rejection would set a dangerous precedent of punishing lawyers for doing their jobs.

Obama called the vote against Adegbile a "travesty," and accused lawmakers of succumbing to "wildly unfair character attacks against a good and qualified public servant." What else coyld anyone have expected the Racist president to say!

  11. HUG a THUG TODAY

Makes about as much sense as the old slogan

    KILL a COMMIE for CHRIST!

Always a fine line between Common Decency, Hypocrisy and Foolhardiness.

  12. I couldn't agree more with you on this assessment. You aren't just born a "thug" you somehow learn it and I would have to agree it does fall on the parents.

  13. Rounds for thugs is more like it...but CNN and like will show the race card and fuel the lust for hugs for thugs.
