AOW, as regards your photography question. The depth of field (focus) is controlled largely by two setting, the focal length and the aperture(f-stop) setting. Shorter focal lengths have a much deeper depth of field. The shot in question was taken at 28mm. (wide angle) in comparison to my usual focal length of 200 - 250 mm. (telephoto) which will blur background.
Shooting telephoto allows you to be less obtrusive.
Duck, Years ago, I had a Ricoh camera and invested in a telephoto lens and several filters. I took some photos so good that they shocked me! Of course, that camera used a film roll. I don't know if they even make that kind of film anymore.
Yesterday, with my new cheapie camera, I got a couple of good photos of Amber and Cameo. I will post them soon.
BTW, my brother-in-law is a professional photographer, mostly self-taught, I think; he's done work for Sierra and some other well-known venues. He has shown me a few tricks over the years. Unfortunately, I don't see him very often because he lives in California.
