The DNC And Israel

(If you need some background on the 2012 DNC Party Platform and how that platform relates to the title of today's blog post, see THIS and THIS over at Mike's America.)

The video of the second change to the 2012 DNC Party Platform is a must-watch if you haven't already seen it:

So, why did DNC change the platform the first time so as to remove certain language about Israel?  From time marker 0:26-0:60, the CNN video below offers a clue (hat tip to Will of MFS - The Other News):

There is more to the story of the language in the 2012 DNC Party Platform. From Debbie of Right Truth:
After DNC delegates denying God (and Israel) three times, they still got their way in the end. Breitbart reports that full pro-Israel language from the 2008 platform has not been and will not be restored...
Check out the entirety of Debbie's post HERE.  Worth your time if you are interested in this topic.

  1. It's more identity politics.

Israel's capital is a rightwing Christian issue, therefor it has no place in the Democrat platform.

Seeing, this I recall how before 9/11 Arab Americans were overwhelmingly Republican. Now, they sit in a party that shares none of their values.

Politics, strange bedfellows, and all that...

  2. Beck predicted this would happen three years ago. SF makes a good point, as always.

IMO, Israel has never been in greater danger, but I also think the Israelis know what Obama and American Jews intend for the Israeli state.

  3. Bibi knows full well that he can not trust Obama and he can not trust US intelligence on Iran. Israel will and should do what they have to do for the well being of the the Israej state and Israelis.

  4. The fate of Israel is not inextricably intertwined with the best interests of the United States of America,

WHY are we HARPING on this as though it mattered to US?

Israel willfully made its bed in the midst of brutally hostile territory. Now, Israel must lie in it. PERIOD!

  5. Freethink.. Not entwined with the interests of the United States? Since when? Every one of those Islamic states is hostile to us, Israel is the only true ally we have in the entire region and Israel gives us a respected presence there that we would never have at all, otherwise. Israel is strategically important to the United States in a variety of ways.

Israel is the historic home of the Jews and lest you forget, Jews have ALWAYS lived there. They didn't disappear and then return, they never left in the first place. All they did was what all the Arabs around them have done, and form a state. What's your problem with Jews? You seem to accept lots of Islamic states, but you don't like Jewish states? Do you have any idea how much better off the world would be if all those Islamic states were Jewish ones instead? The Twin Towers would still be standing, just for a start.

  6. Religion has no place in government, but it will always be with us anyway and it's true that the pressure of one's religion is often the only thing that keeps a lot of people in line at all. So if all they do is say "God" repeatedly, and not refer to any specific religion, who cares?

What the Jews should have done when they kicked the Arabs asses was to take and keep large tracts of land and spoils of war. After all, it was the Arabs who made war against them, so they had the right. The Jews need a lot more territory than they have. The only problem is that a lot of it has too many muslims in it to manage.

For me, the solution is to wipe out the muslims (where's Hitler now that we really need him?) but short of a nuclear war over there or a plague of some sort, the status quo remains, since the Jews only want to live in peace.

If the Jews ever became a truly aggressively warlike people the way their neighbors are, there wouldn't be a muslim left standing.

  7. It is nothing more than antisemitism on the part of the Democrat Party.

What's good for Israel is good for the US. What is bad for Israel is bad for the US.

    Certainly true. No argument there.

But why did the DNC backtrack as shown in the first video and insert PART of the language back in? To keep from losing votes? The Democratic Party has lost most Christian rightwing votes, anyway.

I admit that I am puzzed about the real reasons for off again, on again, then partly off again. Well, not puzzled too much about the latter; after all, it's a heated political season.

  9. @ AOW

I think what happened was this: the DNC attempted to put forth the Obama policy, which is that God has no place in America, and Israel has no priority in American foreign policy. We know why Obama believes this. He is first an acknowledge Marxist; Second, he pursues black theology, which is nothing if not a Jew-hating belief system.

Fox News caught on what was happening within the framework of the Democratic National Platform; they managed to get the attention of Republicans and conservative groups. When the Democrats realized the cat was out of the bag, they did was Democrats always do: obfuscate and backtrack.

They have effectively led us to believe that they fixed the problem; that is a damn lie. The DNC Platform remains essentially anti-God, and anti-Israel. It now reads nearly the way Barack Obama wanted it, but nowhere near what it was in 2008. Barack Obama is rapidly moving us toward an extremely dangerous abyss; a massive regional conflict in the Middle East and I believe Obama hopes, the destruction of Israel—so much the better if that occurs as a result of Iranian atomic weapons.

  10. Thanks for sharing AOW.

They can say and do anything, their base will still vote for them.

  16. "Her going to a state which is without question a sponsor of terror, and having her picture taken with (Bashar) Assad and being seen in a headscarf and so forth is sending the wrong signal to the people of Syria and to the people of the Middle East," the former Massachusetts governor said while campaigning in Johnston, a Des Moines suburb.
"It's a very bad idea to be carrying out a separate and independent foreign policy from the president of the United States," Romney added. "I just don't know what got into her head, to be completely honest with you. I think it was a huge, huge mistake."
Romney's comments came as Pelosi held talks with Assad in Damascus over White House objections. President Bush has denounced the visit, saying it sends mixed messages to Assad's government.
Democrats say the administration's attempts to isolate Syria have failed to force the Assad government to change its policies. The White House accuses Syria of backing terrorism because of its support for the Hezbollah and Hamas militant groups and of destabilizing the Lebanese government. The administration also says Syria is fueling Iraq's violence by allowing Sunni insurgents to operate from its territory.

    6. It is distasteful to have Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu interfering in an American domestic election by openly favoring Romney over Obama."

It's just 'distasteful' for ANYONE to not favor your awful president; I'm amazed that you lefties haven't called Netanyahu racist for it....

  21. Usually, a blog administrator removes Liberalmann's spewings.

However, for the moment, I will let Liberalmann's long comment above remain. Why? The comment is so ludicrous!

Warren, of course, can delete at will. So can Sam.

Besides, enough people have seen Liberaltwit's comments by now.
