  1. Beautiful. Music adds so much to film and we are so often unaware...

    1. Bunkerville,
We should be more aware, I think.

One of our homeschool group's graduates from some years ago has gone on to be a film composer in Hollywood. It's a difficult career! For at least two years, she was composing some scores for major premium cable channels. Not one red penny in compensation, nor any acknowledgement in the shows' credits. Now she's on her way and doing very well.

IMO, we should have respect good film composers.

    2. That's for sure. On a different note, the music in Jaws absolutely made that movie. And Robert Shaw.

Dirty Harry had good music, Wizard of Oz come to mind right off.

    3. Kid,
That soundtrack from “Jaws”! Without the music, test audiences didn’t jump when that head rolled out of the sunken boat. Remember that part? John Williams has been an outstanding film composer, IMO.

Back in the day, I bought vinyls of movie soundtracks. “Jaws” was one of them. Also, “Dueling Banjos” and “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.”

    1. Franco,
Yes! And poignant, too—as was the film.

  3. Legrand was a mixed bag. How could the composer for The Umbrellas of Cherbourg also produce The Windmills of Your Mind ?

  4. Well that was soothing after the spectacle of the last week's bad crazy news cycle. But there's hope -- Hillary's thinking of running 2020 and Melania won yet another big settlement against the, ahem, press.

    Good work, First Lady.

    1. LSP,
      Good on the FLOTUS!

I chose this musical selection, in part, to bring some solace.
