Here is one of my gripes this week: [Texas] Man says apartment complex called his US flag a ‘threat to Muslim community’.

Now for something that is not a gripe.  It is a joy to behold Paul Ryan letting the IRS Commissioner have it yesterday during the hearings about the "lost" IRS emails:

Do we really want our first female POTUS to be a woman who laughs about the gang rape of a little girl?

Even if the child lied, is rape just the average joke, like that told by Clayton Williams who advised women to just "relax and enjoy it"? He lost the Texas gubernatorial race because of his ill-spoken words.

I have raised boys, and not girls. But they understand how I feel. I would have killed any man that raped them. Strong words, from a strong Texas woman.

    1. Tammy,
Thank you for posting that link -- and for your comment.

I personally know three people who were the victims of pedophiles. Those three people are now adults, and one of the pedophiles is incarcerated for life.

I know for a fact that the three victims I just mentioned had their lives forever changed for the worse. They "recovered" after a fashion -- but not really in that they are all hermits and misanthropes.

    2. Matthew 5: 1-12 (KJV)

And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted
      .
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

  2. While our attention is focused on events in Iraq, as well as SO MANY scandals and other domestic problems, OUR DEAR LEADER and the rest of the Obama administration, as well as The First Wookie continue to show us that they have no regard for the people of the United States. Yes, the Obama administration has a uncontrollable, appetite for more, and more power. It despises, our freedoms, individual liberties, our right to Free Speech and drags down the economy with every change it gets. He traded five members of the Taliban’s most vicious and dangerous, highest ranked prisoners from Guantanamo for a prisoner who deserted his unit in Afghanistan, a Treasonist act. He has driven our nation’s debt up so high that, for the first time in our nations’s history, its credit rating was brought down to it’s lowest rating. . A debt that has now reached $17 trillion dollors.
The arrogance of our Dear leader is outstanding, he even refuses to tell us how many of the illegal immigrants are now flooding
There are so many scandals going on, that we don’t even know which where to look first. What happened to the most transparent administration in history?
The first and foremost deed should be the oil situation and the fact that we MUST be OIL INDEPENDENT. And realize that our purchase of Alaska was for oil and no other reason.
Unemployment has affected millions and has only gotten lower because of those who have ceased to look.
He has reduced our military’s funding to pre World War two levels.
Obamacare, or the “so called” the Affordable Patient Care has destroyed one of the the finest health system’s in the world, not only raising the cost of health insurance, but interfering with the doctor-patient relationship, and causing millions of Americans who already had health insurance to lose it. And on top of all that he lied to us so that he would be able to put it through, and we all knew it.
Has there ever been a U.S. President who was so wrong about so much befor? I don’t think that there has!
So with all these problems, and a basket of scandals so large that it’s pouring over, all the “Progressives” can talk about or blog about is Dick Cheney, and his daughter!

Obama has done nothing but bitch and moan about the mess he was left by George Bush! And with all of this Obama’s blind followers, and supporters seem to think that he, is the best thing in the world since sliced bread, and his fellow Marxist Progressive supporters LOVE what he's accomplished.

    2. Wow, you got "issues," man.

I don't know what a "Treasonist" is, but trading prisoners at the end of a war is standard operating procedure, and we have more of them than they have of us. If a Republican had been President, the same kind of deal would eventually have gone down.

To say Obama drove up the debt is like saying "Obama is King of America and he decides how much money to raise and how much to spend and how much was owed, oh, and I'm functionally retarded."

No one is hiding the number of illegal border crossings that is known or estimated.

There are no current "scandals" that are any serious threat to the administration.

We can not be completely oil independent, nor do we have to be.

Unemployment figures are right about where most economists said they would be at this point out in the worst recession since the Great Depression, a recession that was a product of laissez-faire economic policy.

So far, Obamacare has been a success. With further improvements, healthcare costs can be managed for the future.

Bush left Obama two wars in quagmire and the worst recession since the Great Depression, and among the few very worst in our history. To ignore that is to be Stimpy-level stupid.

I don't think you know what the word "Marxist" means.

The Bush/Cheney Crusade in Iraq has resulted only in the destabilizing of the region. Everything which has happened in Iraq, happened because of deliberate lies and ignorant fantasies, from W(orst POTUS Ever) and his staff of NeoCon war criminal buffoons stated Casus Belli (Smoking Gun=Mushroom Cloud, Saddam's connection to Al Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden), the ever rotating reason for remaining, all the lies of progress we were making, all the fallout, the loss of American lives, the destruction of thousands of families, a million dead Iraqis and $5 Trillion stolen.

In a Friday sermon [on June 13, 2014], Sudanese cleric Muhammad Al-Jazouli said that all U.S. embassies and interests would become “legitimate targets” in the event of a U.S. airstrike on ISIS forces in Iraq. Targets would include tourist resorts, universities, coffee shops, restaurants, airplanes, ships, shops, and companies, he said in the sermon, calling upon the youth to “play a role in defending the nucleus of the caliphate.”...

  7. Ducky is right, the case against "The Central Park Five" was a farce and a set-up. This was reprehensible, those boys had nothing to do with that rape, they were wrongful convicted at first and were forced to confess to a crime they didn't commit. It's beyond negligence. And there is a lesson here to be learned. Thank God New York did NOT have the death penalty, or God only knows what would have happened. The white community had a lynch mob ready to hang those boys. Thats why capital punishment is so dangerous, and should be completely abolished. Just ask Trayvon Martin’s Mother about wrongful killings. And another reason why we need people like Al Sharpton. Also White Hispanic’s are just as bad as the White Racist’s.

Some of you people here like so many other ignorant fools who know nothing about the law continuously blather on about. A cops opinion is NOT a license to kill,.

Do you ever wonder what you might have done under similar circumstances?

You mentioned white privilege. George Zimmerman wasn't white. His maternal grandfather was Afro-Peruvian. Furthermore, on numerous documents (voter registration, for example), Zimmerman identified himself as Hispanic. He also did not come from "the privileged class." Look up his bio.

  9. If you are one of those who are hooked and are obsessed with that story that Benghazi was some kind of State Department conspiracy and cover-up, then it seems you are not going to be capable of processing any new information about Benghazi without somehow fitting it into that pre-conceived narrative. Either you are against anything that Hillary Clinton would say or trying to distract from Obama's successful record.
So when the Obama administration captures one of the terrorists who led the Benghazi attack, this news cannot be taken at face value. It just can't be that the Obama administration has been diligently hunting down the attackers to bring them to justice. No, it must be that they are doing it to distract attention from the real Benghazi scandal, whatever it is, that the president's opponents are still hoping to prove. Or maybe they're doing it to give a boost to Hillary Clinton's book tour, allowing her to bask in the glory of finally capturing one of the terrorists, rather than face the tough questions about the real scandal, whatever it is.
Lets face it Benghazi became the top issue on the right-wing talk shows and,, the whole American Rightwing media, and blogsphere jumped on it. To conservatives, it was an attack that was covered up and lied about. When in reality it was just a national tragedy. To the Conservative crowd, who already believe Obama was a incompetent liar, this only added fuel to the fire.
So thats how Benghazi became another classic conspiracy theory. The lame-brain Conservatives convinced themselves that the Obama administration, mainly Hillary Clinton and Susan Rice were covering up the truth about Benghazi and anyone who argued blind idiot and a progressive whatever! .
It has gotten to the point where the president's critics, who have been trying so hard for years to push the conspiracy theory that the Obama administration has not been doing enough to hunt down terrorists, are now criticizing the administration for guess what? Yes, it has come to this they are criticizing the president for hunting down and capturing terrorists. Is there anything that Obama can do that is right? I guess not. The short answer is no. The long answer is also no! Lets not forget that he’s Black, and that explains a lot.

  13. Libtard [lib - tard] - Separate from Liberal(A leftie that still has a chance to learn something)

Lib- A description of a person who is liberal as currently commonly defined by their political leanings which include the impossible dreams of socialism and Marxism, the societal destroying multiculturalism of political correctness.

Many are also severely fascist as they are unwilling to extend the freedom of speech to anyone who doesn't buy into the impossible fantasies described above.

tard - Retarded mental development. These folks reach a certain level at a very young age and simply stop developing mentally. Folks who continue developing mentally become conservatives.
The tards continue to believe in a world where everyone is forced to like everyone else, everyone can have whatever they want whenever they want it and which is paid for by someone else without any consequence to the host body.

See here is the thing. Most of us were liberal at some point early in our lives. We've been were liberals and libtards are now. We simply found that all the liberal dreams are dead ends. Rather than blindly invest in dead ends, we progressed our thought processes and strategies and moved to the next levels.

They will realize how life, liberty, pursuit of happiness [On Your Own Dime] works, when the people they are parasitical of stop putting out. Then they will have nothing. They will blame the conservatives and 'the rich' for the destruction of their lives, because as we learnd first thing, they don't have the caacity to learn anyhing new. Retarded mental development.

If they weren't destroying my country, I'd feel sorry for them to some degree but as it is, I won't life a finger to help them willingly at this point. All they get is what our elite club political body of cretins, morons, thieves, and worse can steal from me.

Thank you for providing that elaboration about libtard.

In my youth, I leaned toward the liberal end of the political spectrum. I learned better quite quickly.

To my everlasting shame now, the first time that I was eligible to cast my ballot in the National Election, I voted for Jimmy Carter in 1976. By 1980, I had moved well to the right on the political spectrum.

Today, I don't see very many staunch supporters of Obama learning the lesson that I did. Why is that?

  14. Why is there not an obstruction of justice charge against the individuals tasked with producing the necessary IRS emails? Hmmm

My guess is the NSA can produce them. Yep.

Book recommendation: _No Place to Hide_ by Glenn Greenwald. Very well-written and worth it for the final chapter, "The Fourth Estate". The author walks the reader through the subtle attempts made to slander him and assassinate his character, after the Snowden disclosures of the violations of our first and fourth amendment rights.

I do not agree with Mr. Greenwald on some of his observations. But the spirit in which his thoughts are expressed showcase his strong background as a Constitutional lawyer.

  16. About the Central Park Jogger Case:

According to a police investigation, the main suspects were gangs of teenagers who would assault strangers as part of an activity that became known as "wilding"....April 19th was known to have been a night when such a gang attack occurred, in which the suspects had entered the park in Harlem with over 30 acquaintances....

If I recall correctly, all sorts of pressures came to bear -- specifically, the public clamoring for arrests.

It's no wonder that the public clamored for arrests because On the night of April 19, 1989, several attacks, assaults and robberies occurred in New York City's Central Park, involving about 30 teenage perpetrators.

    Furthermore:

Four of the juveniles charged—Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Raymond Santana, and Kharey Wise—officially confessed to the rape and to other attacks that night, and each implicated the others....

...[T]he suspects (except Salaam) had confessed on videotape in the presence of a parent or guardian...

Jurors interviewed after the trial stated that they were not convinced by the confessions but were impressed by the physical evidence introduced by the prosecutors...

And retractions were not issued for some weeks.

    As of June 19, 2014:

A proposed settlement in the case for $40 million was announced on June 19, 2014.

Was there a terrible miscarriage of justice in this case? So it seems.

There may also be an ongoing miscarriage of justice in the Jeffrey MacDonald case. Dr. MacDonald was convicted in 1979 and has been incarcerated since 1982. Will Ken Burns also make a documentary about the MacDonald Case?
