Bathroom Follies

There really are not words to describe how far beyond weird this story is:
Maine’s highest court: Transgender student’s rights were violated

Nicole Maines’ school was wrong to require the fifth-grader to use a unisex bathroom, justices rule in a historic gender-identity decision that could be a model for other states.

The rights of a transgender girl from Orono were violated when school administrators made her use a staff bathroom at her elementary school instead of the girls’ restroom, the Maine Supreme Judicial Court ruled Thursday.

The ruling is the first in which a state supreme court has affirmed a transgender person’s right to equal access to restrooms in places of public accommodation.

Lawyers representing Nicole Maines, who is now 16, said the decision could lay a foundation for other states’ courts that are facing questions about the emerging rights of people who identify as the opposite of their birth gender....
Read the rest HERE.  You have to read it to believe that this is the sorry condition into which America has descended by leaps and bounds.  The court's ruling was 5-1. The decision wasn't even close!

On January 31, 2014, I posted about this story at Infidel Bloggers Alliance, where I gleaned further information via comments (emphases mine):

This school in Orono is right nearby and we are very friendly with several teachers. One is Mrs. Epa's closest friend

School went WAY WAY out of it's way to satisfy the child's and her/his parent's requests (then demands).

Because the child was GRANTED the right to use the private teacher's lounge bathroom, this should have been solved RIGHT THEN. In fact other students and parents complained about this child going into any bathroom, which drove the school's attempt to find some solution which might be acceptable to all.

Orono is a tiny town about 8 miles north of Bangor and frankly a small town, small school solution SHOULD HAVE SUFFICED for this exceptional one off situation.

Instead this CAMPAIGN resulted by offending everyone after major efforts to satisfy were made, in the family MOVING and leaving the area entirely.

We have watched this develop for YEARS from the inside.

All parties in the school did NOTHING but try to find a way to satisfy all the desires and objections. Anything else reported is a distortion.

If someone can explain why using the teacher's lounge private bathroom was unacceptable when so many other parents and students felt compromised and THEIR values demeaned, I sure would like to hear it.

Everyone loses.
Additional reading: Maine’s supreme court foists choose-your-own-bathroom policy on entire state. A must-read! For example:
In November, officials at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington scoffed at legal threats and stood firmly by their decision to let a 45-year-old student with a penis use the women’s locker room, and walk naked in front of girls as young as six.
What does this insanity say about the state of our nation?

  2. My reaction to this is that the parents are idiots, the people of Nicole, Maine are idiots, and I am convinced that any court that would uphold or support such idiocy have lost their senses and ought to be impeached.

As for Utah, Mohammedans have been living polygamous lives for decades; why restrict one group if not everyone? I do not see a victim to polygamy other than the somewhat bizarre family structure of those who practice polygamy. John Smith had 26 wives, proving that he wasn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer. I’m certain he deserved every one of them.

  5. Sorry but "Nicole" was born with male DNA, and so he is a male NOT a female. I would not call him by his female name nor should his ignorant parents encourage this lunacy. The kid needs some psychological help. A young child could careless about gender. I'm curious if the parents wanted a daughter and decided to change their son to meet their needs? Just a thought.

I think this whole transgender debacle is a travesty. I have to agree with Mustang.

Furthermore, why is no one considering the rights of all the other students? Why just this messed up kid? Is he the only one that should have rights because he "believes" he's a female and therefore should have access to a girls restroom? Where would this end? This is the perfect playground for pedophiles and would-be rapists, easy as pie. They fake that they are transgendered.

What sick and vile world we live in.

  6. To show a proper degree of empathy for those who are different in this Brave new World all the boys should all be ordered to wear skirts and blouses to class, and be taught to sing, "I Enjoy Being a Girl," while all the girls should be ordered to come to school in Levis, checked lumberjack shirts sporting combat boots and an engineer's cap, and learn to sing rousing choruses of Stout Hearted Men.

From now on all public toilets must UNISEX -- open to Females, Males and everyone in between.

    EQUALITY UEBER ALLES!

I hope I am correct in assuming that your are joking? Please tell me that I am. If by any chance you are serious, your remarks would be very disturbing.

  9. I could care less what these parents do in the privacy of their own home, and not being a citizen of the perverted state of Maine, I don’t much care how they raise their children. But I will say this: in any other state, raising children to become a sexual deviant is not only abhorrent and perverse; it is also a form of child abuse. Anyone who subscribes to such a notion as this will no doubt support the North American Man-Boy Love Association. It is disgusting, and so too is any pervert who seeks to explain this sort of thing away as merely part of the human condition. Our country is turning into a cluster of damn degenerates …

  10. When my son attended U.C. Santa Cruz, all the bathrooms were unisex, including the showers therein. I was using the restroom when some female co-ed popped in. I did not feel comfortable with this. Of course, UC Santa Cruz has been described by David Horowitz as the most leftwing university in the country. They even have a special chair for Communist Angela Davis.

  11. Last week, my Current Events class discussed the topic of this blog post. These students range in age from 14-17 years old. They found the very idea of such a controversy, followed by the court's ruling, an absolute absurdity.

One student opined: "Use the bathroom according to biology."

Why is this blog being censored? Every one of my comments has disappeared without a trace. What I said may have been critical, but it weren't unkind, abusive or indecent, and what I said was perfectly truthful from what I understand the truth to be. I don't understand this kind of discrimination. If you don't want to entertain differing points of view, why have a discussion at all?

I'll be watching to see if this comment remains.

    1. It is simple, Ellie … er, Free Thinke. We repudiate your defense of bizarre behavior. You are the only person commenting here today that made an irrational, absurd statement. School age children routinely read this blog, so, if you wish to propagate your “truth,” do it at your blog.

Then the adults got involved and create a tempest in a teapot.

  15. So many ignorant people commenting here I am astounded that you know nothing about transgender and how it affects the people born like this. You need to do some research and watch some documentaries to get an idea of how real this condition is to them before making such absurd and ridiculous comments. Even I, as a plumber and with no university degree to speak of apart from an apprenticeship, am more educated about issues like these.
