  3. Gad, that last chord harmony is perfection, as is the rest of the song! I love Dino and Crosby SO MUCH, (I know such nice dino stories from the Mountaingate Country Club golf pro who adored him) but when I heard Frank open his mouth, I'm GONE.

this was charming...imagine things like THIS on TV these days instead of low class smut like Happily Divorced? Oh, for the good old days.

  4. Z,
I'm glad that you mentioned the harmonies? Aren't they exquisite?

You should write some of those up. I can send them to DMP, who will post them -- or crosspost them from your site if you like. As you know, I've written a few things for DMP. Fun site!

  6. I am SO glad that I was able to grow up as a kid when I did in the 50s, carefree, young, unharmed, innocent, with people who actually acted like adults, with a traditional nuclear family, with people who all spoke English and strived for unity with common goals, had a common culture, had secure borders, with a strong, very strong SOVEREIGN nation behind and beneath us.

Somehow, despite not having been forced to wear a helmet whilst riding a bicycle, whilst not having been forced to wear a helmet when I went motorcycle riding, not being forced to fear my neighbors, whilst obeying the adults in my neighborhood because I KNEW I was "just a juvenile," whilst shooting BB guns and throwing dirt clods and riding my bicycle for MILES and MILES away from my home, in parks, on streets, whilst carrying plastic replica guns and playing Army in parks, whilst arguing over who got shot and who didn't, whilst playing with plastic soldiers, Matchbox and Dinky and Corgi cars, whilst being raised on Marvel Comics, whilst reading Mad Magazine, whilst reading AE Van Vogt, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C Clarke, Theodore Sturgeon, whilst listening to Donovan and The Lettermen and The Kingston Trio and The Beatles --

-- somehow, despite all that, I still managed to not just survive but THRIVE.

    Imagine that.

    BZ

  8. They don't make cool guys like that anymore. I miss 'em, and Sammy Davis Jr too.

  9. Stogie,
    Yes, Sammy too.

I did see Sinatra and Sammy perform during the Rat Pack Reunion Tour back in 1988 when the tour came to the DC area. Dean Martin had earlier dropped out of the tour because of his grief over untimely death of his son Dino, Jr. I was very disappointed that I didn't get to see "the big three."
