About those NYC employees fired for not taking the vaccine, they now have an FBI flag on their files and apparently will have to go to the back of the line for rehire (emphases mine):

Many employees fired for refusing to get the COVID-19 vaccine for religious reasons will not be able to get rehired due to being assigned a “problem code” by the New York City Department of Education (DOE), a code that is also sent to the FBI, according to oral arguments made Wednesday by Alliance Defending Freedom in the case of New Yorkers for Religious Liberty v. the City of New York.

Mayor Eric Adams announced that New York City’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for city employees will end on Feb. 10 after thousands of workers were fired for declining to adhere to the rule, but stated that those workers would now be able to reapply for their positions. Alliance for Defending Freedom (ADF), a legal firm focused on protecting the First Amendment rights of Americans, pointed out during oral arguments that many former employees would not be able to get their jobs back because the DOE had marked workers who refused to comply with the mandate with a “problem code” that is also tied to their fingerprints and sent to the FBI....

As one who has reacted to my first-and-only COVID "vaccine" (It appears to have triggered my childhood asthma to the point that my primary care physician will not now recommend even the annual flu vaccine!), I find myself doing research on the COVID "vaccines" and apparent reactions thereto.  The picture emerging is disturbing. To say the least!

 Personal observation: I am one of those individuals suffering long-term respiratory problems apparently caused by just one J&J injection. When I mentioned these problems to my primary care doctor yesterday, he did not dispute what I said but, instead, nodded his head. Hmmmmm....

The COVID "Vaccines"

Over and over again, we hear that the COVID vaccines — not really vaccines in the traditional sense — prevent severe illness, hospitalization, or worse.   Statements so laudatory of the COVID vaccines are not based on science, however. Rather, they are merely feel-good statements based on emotion or perhaps a  manifestation of magical thinking.

If you got the COVID vaccines and had no ill effects, good for you!  No sarcasm implied or intended.  

My situation is different.

You see, prior to the arrival of COVID, I already had a history of two severe reactions to live vaccines: (1) after a live vaccine at 6 months of age, I had febrile seizures, followed by over a week in pediatric intensive care; (2) after a live vaccine for chickenpox at age 64, I developed a problem with my renal system, to the point that I required surgery. Because of the latter development, a neurologist, a urologist, and a primary-care doctor all stated, independently of each other: "No more live vaccines for you!"  Not a single one of the aforementioned doctors is an anti-vaxxer.   

 

Then along came COVID-19. In March of 2021, my primary-care doctor ruled out my having any mRNA vaccine. In his words: "MRNA vaccines are not exactly live, but they are close to that. Considering your history with vaccines, let's go with the J&J shot."  A risk-benefit analysis. 

My significant reaction to the COVID vaccine didn't set in until about 3 weeks later, and I've yet to fully recover from the respiratory issues that arose.  When I informed my doctor as to the negative effects I was experiencing, he said: "Worse than many, but not as bad as some."  Of course, followed by "Call 911 if you need to."  

Hmmmmm. Maybe I should have stuck with social-distancing only.  

So far, I haven't needed medical intervention. 

Now, with the passage over a year, we are hearing more and more that there are indeed people who have had severe problems with the COVID-19 vaccines. Consider the following information (only two samples of many I could have chosen):

Full disclosure: some sources have discredited the above and have deemed it "misinformation" or "disinformation."  Is it, though?

The fact remains that we don't know what we don't know.  Furthermore, that little bit of information about FDA's wanting to put a 75-year lock on certain information related to COVID vaccines does not promote confidence in Big Pharma's products.  See this article.   

Whatever the truth about COVID-19 vaccines, all of us should be able to see that experts are contradicting experts — and sometimes experts contradict themselves within as little as 48 hours!  "The science is evolving."  Or something.

I can't advise you as to what to do about these vaccines for yourself or for your children (or grandchildren).  But I know that I'll have to think long and hard about getting any kind of booster.

I'll close this post with the following, relevant to more than vaccinations per se....

Nothing would be more fatal than for the government of states to get into the hands of the experts. Expert knowledge is limited knowledge: and the unlimited ignorance of the plain man who knows only what hurts is a safer guide, than any vigorous direction of a specialised character. Personal story....

My father's sister, only seven years old, died of "the aftereffects" of the Great Influenza of 1918-1920 — even though flu deaths in her age group were quite rare.  Therefore, long before COVID-19 came along, I've had great interest in the award-winning film Awakenings, which depicts part of the story of  institution-confined patients suffering from the 1915-1927 epidemic of encephalitis lethargica, one of the aftereffects believed by some scientists to have been caused by the Great Influenza. 

My family never discussed exactly the specific "aftereffects" that killed Dad's sister, and I've always wondered if she, too, had encephalitis lethargica.  Perhaps Dad's didn't know; after all, he was only eight or nine years old when his sister died.

The family story I heard several times was limited to Dad's unforgettable and blunt words: 

"Because of the flu outbreak, the undertaker came to the house to embalm Chrissy — and dumped the blood behind the barn."  

I have always wondered if Chrissy slipped into a Parkinsonian-like catatonia similar to that shown in the film Awakenings, one of those rare films better than the book.

The Covid saga began with orchestrated misdirection. On January 31, 2020, some of the world’s top virologists told Dr. Anthony Fauci they believed the SARS-CoV-2 virus was probably “engineered” and they “can’t think of a plausible natural scenario.”

My take: it seems to me that it is impossible to make an informed decision about the COVID-19 vaccines and boosters.

Covid by the Numbers

"Seventy-five percent of people who have died of the virus in the United States — or about 600,000 of the nearly 800,000 who have perished so far — have been 65 or older. 

Thank you, New York Times for this excellent article. This brings home the fact that... 

One in 100 older Americans has died from the virus. 

That is a frightening crude mortality rate for that demographic: 1% of all people over 65. The Times adds...

For people younger than 65, that ratio is closer to 1 in 1,400.

That is a crude mortality rate of roughly 0.1% for those under 65. Data from the UK--where the government actually tracks and reports useful metrics--reports that for people under 65, around 70% of Covid deaths were people with pre-existing conditions. This is useful information our government should be collecting and reporting.  That brings the death rate for the healthy under 65 population to down around 0.03%.  When adjusted for time (a flu season is about 4 months), this makes Covid for that demographic three times deadlier than the 2019 flu season. *

For all people under 65, Covid is ten times as deadly as a more severe flu season, but that number is meaningless.  We need stratification by age and preexisting conditions to make informed decisions. 

For two years now, government and the Infotainment Media Complex has harassed and assaulted us with horrible, hysterical, and factually inaccurate reporting on Covid.  Preening government camera hog Fauci hasn't helped matters, nor has the shrieking, blubbering mess of a bureaucrat Dr. Walensky.  The New York Times article puts human faces on the numbers and puts the data into an understandable context.

By now, Covid-19 has become the third leading cause of death among Americans 65 and older, after heart disease and cancer. It is responsible for about 13 percent of all deaths in that age group since the beginning of 2020, more than diabetes, accidents, Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.

Government stupidly hounded, cajoled and propagandized working age people and children and adolescents, closing down schools and businesses, when it should have ditched the scary language and simply issued data-driven advice so people of all ages could make their own informed decisions.  

Did government commit elder abuse by blaring alarums at the elderly--who are the demographic that has the highest trust in government--to "lockdown" and "self-quarantine" for going on two years now?  Could government have done a better job informing them, so they could make their own risk/reward decisions?

In a world becoming increasingly unhinged, I place my faith in God and thank Him for family and good friends.

Still, I have had my doubts.  I see it.  Others see it.  Why are so many supposed experts and elites spewing such nonsense, and why do they appear to be obfuscating and propagandizing instead of providing clear facts and sometimes telling us simply that they don't know?  

CDC Director Rachel Walensky tearfully wailing about "impending doom" (that ended up not happening). 

Why are good, smart and rational people acting so irrationally? Covid kills, it is real, but we understand it now, how it is transmitted, what it does to people based upon their health and age, and we have drugs to help those who get sick from it.  Those fanning the flames of hysteria fail to put covid in context.

Child Abuse

We know Covid is less dangerous to those 18 and under than the seasonal flu, yet the government allowed the teachers unions to mau mau them into mandating vaccines for children, forcing them to wear masks, and conducting performative school shutdowns.  This is government-sanctioned child abuse on a mass scale, propelled by the largest collective case of Munchausen by Proxy in human history. 

As I've already said, The Lord is my consolation, but I am human, and finding other people--good, smart, highly-educated people--who are also alarmed by this societal mass hysteria comforts me.

Disproportionate Response

Prof. Mattias Desmet is a professor of clinical psychology at Ghent University in Belgium, and he also has a degree in math and statistics.  He noticed early on that the covid data did not match the out-of-all-proportions response by governments around the world.  

Here in the US, 75% of Covid deaths are in people above 65 years old, yet government destroyed jobs, livelihoods and academic careers of students and working age people.   And governments today continue hounding this cohort and fomenting pogrom-like frenzies against them while refusing to publish clear statistical information on just how few people with no comorbidities are in danger of death.

Desmet posits this is a Mass Formation, aka Mass Hypnosis.  He lists four conditions that make a society ripe for this:

1. Lack of Social Bonds.  

2. Lack of meaning in life

3. Free-Floating, Inchoate Anxiety

4. Free-Floating Frustration and Anger

All that is left is the spark.  In this case, covid: 

This has now happened. The anxiety and lonely isolation many felt before the pandemic and during the pandemic found their perfect “object of anxiety” and is solidly locked on to the pandemic and vaccine narrative…they cannot be tolerant or allow dissent or different voices and don’t want to even hear any questioning.  (Quoted in Dr Herd)

All the free-floating anxiety and anger, now turning into panic, becomes attached to the Object. Sudden connection through this heroic struggle together against the Object creates a new solidarity, a social bond that has been lacking, which in turn, creates meaning. People then feel that they can control their psychological discontent by participating in the strategy, even if it’s utterly absurd.. (Paraphrased by Barbara With)

So, those who succumb to this find a comforting solidarity with other like-minded souls and a new purpose in life.  They also collectively focus their bile and anger at those who refuse to join the collective.

Dr Desmet estimates that in a mass formation...

30% of people are deeply hypnotized

40% are not but go along with the crowd — if this 40% stop hearing dissenting voices of reason they will unite with the hypnotized to go along

30% that cannot be hypnotized; we must keep speaking out

* - Final Note: Mass Formation is a concept that can be applied to many phenomena including political movements.  Some will be tempted to cite 'MAGA' or 'Trumpism,' and its manifestations in 'Stop the Steal,' and the Jan 6th Capitol incident and I would not disagree.  However, this is pale deflection.  

The Covid Mass Formation is orders of magnitude more dangerous because it is impacting billions of lives across the globe and threatens to reorder western societies along a more totalitarian model.  MAGA enjoys the support of no major media outlets, no governments and no major institutions.  Covid Hysteria is stoked daily by governments, press and institutions across the globe.

I detect a disturbing trend in our nation:  People are expecting guarantees and definitive answers that real life and "experts" simply cannot provide:

With no national system to check who is vaccinated and who is not, the new federal guidance leaves an unavoidable — but gaping — hole, some people said. There’s no guarantee, they said, that unvaccinated people will not discard their masks along with the vaccinated ones, potentially creating a risk that the virus will continue to circulate.

I proffer two articles that provide a snapshot into the state of America today. Please read them and share your thoughts on what a year and an half of masking has done to this nation:

God forbid we ever consider a year with diapers on our faces "normal."  My "favorite" quotes from the articles:

Yes, Ms. Beagan had heard about the C.D.C’s announcement. And yes, she has had her Covid-19 vaccines. Still, after all these months, it felt kind of scary.

“I still don’t know where people have been to; they don’t know where I’ve been,” said Yamilet Rebolledo, 24, who wore a fuchsia mask to the farmers’ market and said she plans to continue covering her face even once she is vaccinated.

“I’m hyper-aware that wearing a mask or not wearing a mask says something about me,” said Annie Krabbenschmidt, 27, a gig worker and writer who lives in Los Angeles. She said she had apprehensions about giving up her mask. “They are so much more than a safety vest, at this point.”

As I observe all the mask wearers here in Northern Virginia all masked up even when jogging or alone in their cars, I have to wonder if we are turning into a nation of hypochondriacs and — worse — a nation of sheeple.

I have long expressed concern about exactly what recovery from COVID-19 looks like.  What the medical profession considers recovery is really not a desirable recovery. 

After all, Mr. AOW is considered recovered from his stroke of September 15, 2009, but the recovery doesn't look good at all: hospital bed in the living room, bedside potty in the living room, mobility scooter, and totally dependent on me his caregiver for his ADL's (bathing, getting dressed, etc.), frenetic searches for a viable restroom when we're out, the occasional pit stop at the side of the road.  You get the picture, I'm sure: Mr. AOW's stroke recovery is one of total disability.

 

Also, the tragic case of Nick Cordero got me to wondering, "what does recovery from COVID-19 look like?"  

 

Apparently, the variables are many and even unknown.

Questions, then, arise: 

What is the appropriate and Constitutional role of the government for COVID-19 prevention during this pandemic?  

Have certain state and local governments overstepped with the measures they are taking?  Two examples of recent measures, and there are many more recent clampdowns: (1) the mayor of Chicago has basically canceled Thanksgiving and Christmas and (2) the governor Virginia has limited all public gatherings to 25 people or fewer (previous limitation was 250).

Do we even know which measures work?

"Medical Solitary Confinement"

...[John] is paying for the crime of needing to be kept “safe”. We are keeping Americans “safe”! And in the process, destroying what it means to be human.

John has gone from almost five months with no family contact, no holistic hugs and encompassing love, to the added burden of weeks of what is, for all practical purposes, a variation of solitary confinement. He has a roommate. But he doesn’t have… us. He is in a file cabinet… filed away as a numeric that reflects he is “safe”....

Behavioral Priming

Have WE THE PEOPLE been bamboozled? 

"Science" has made Americans cower in their homes, skip routine medical appointments, wear suffocating masks, hold classes and book club discussions on Zoom or other online platform relying on pixels so as to see another human being's face, lose all sorts of day-to-day gregarious activities which make life worth living, cancel church services, suffer even more isolation in their Golden Years, require appointments for something as simple as getting new eyeglasses, accept an unacceptable "new normal" — and much more.

Is all of the above really necessary to ensure our good health, our very survival?  Or is a wicked experiment being conducted?

From What if we’ve all been primed?:

We’re all in this together. Stay home. Stay safe. We’ll get through this. It’s our new normal.

These words have been repeated so many times, you’d think they’re used for selling the latest superfood.

They’re not selling a superfood, but is it possible they’re trying to sell us something?

A while back, my friend Ed Bonderenka posted this comment to a different thread here at this blog:

There is an acceptance of the abuses to our sovereignty because of fear.

People wearing masks while driving, walking alone.

It's either virtue signalling or fear.

Or, I add now, these behaviors are the result of behavioral priming.  Deliberate behavioral priming with the ultimate goal of what, exactly?  The noble goal of saving lives — as we've been told over and over?
