Personal Post: Back In The Day

(For politics, please scroll down)

Yes, these are photos of me as a toddler:

I was an alpha, even back then.

And ever curious!

  1. Yes! The serious nature and fierce determination to satisfy curiosity, and always to try to prevail were apparent from the very beginning as these charming baby pictures clearly show.

    1. My personality does seem to be genetic! Curious like my mom, determined like my dad. A lot of my maternal grandmother in me, too.

  2. Reminds me of "The Thinker" at an earlier age... :)

  3. The older I grow and the more I observe the more persuaded I become to believe that NATURE really is more powerful than NURTURE –– or as we used to say, "Blood will always tell."

  4. Those were the days AOW. You mentioned somewhere you have red hair. Do you also have green eyes? (be still my heart)

    1. Yes, I have green eyes.

I was a redhead till the gray too over. Now I’m more of an ash blond.

    2. We have a guy in IT. 58. He was redder than red earlier on and is not almost white. Ash blond would be a good description.

When I was in my 30's and people asking me why I wasn't married yet, I told them I was looking for a redhead with green eyes.

    3. Most of my ash blond these days is out of a bottle.

  5. Sweet! I never pictured you as a fellow redhead.

    1. Hey! Me TOO! My hair was more of a Titian red, however, –– lots of brown in it –– no carrot top I! It got browner as I got older, though my beard was bright red, till it turned snow white when I was n my sixties. And while my eyes do qualify as "green," I have to confess they'e a sort of KHAKI green or CESSPOOLgreen. YECH!

My mother preferred to call them "HAZEL," but they vary with the weather, and what I'm wearing too. Mother had beautiful AQUAMARINE eyes, and father's were CORNFLOWER BLUE.

I never did have good luck that way. Both my parents were much better looking than I –– MUCH.

That's just the way the cookie crumbles. I can't complain

  6. Both of these photos were taken at my grandmother’s house—where I’ve lived since 1972.

    2. Still out of town.

Unfortunately Mr. AOW is back in the hospital. Three falls in 12 hours! Other family is on the scene.

    3. DAMN! I'm so sorry to hear that, AOW. He was ding so well too. Does anyone know what caused it?

      Delete
    4. The cause? Balance SUDDENLY way off. The doctors are looking into a possible cardiac cause.

Mr. AOW had a few cardiac issues when he was hospitalized in September, but the hospital didn’t follow up. Instead, they wanted him OUT—because of the sores they allowed to develop. 😡

    5. Sounds very similar to the VErtIGO attacks which have bothered me a great deal this past year –– and one or times prior to that.

Perhaps you should consult an OTOLARYNGOLOGIST? Symptoms such as you describe MAY develop in older people because of disturbances in the CRYSTALS contained in the inner ear.

Also the VAgUS NERvE sometimes goes haywire, and causes dizziness, nausea, and short term blackouts. My aged aunt suffered from that condition, and would periodically pass out in restaurants in the middle of a meal. Very dramatic, very furthering, UNTIL experience taugh that these episodes, while dramaatic usually resolved themselves very quickly.

The risk of FALLING, of course, the major concern.

    6. The hospital is running scan after scan. Not sure what they’re looking for—mostly in the brain, but also in the neck and abdomen.

Blood work indicated that the pancreas is not the culprit.

  7. SORRY to BREAK IN OFF TOPIC. but THIDS is VERY WELCOME NEWS:

News Alert: Democrat Andrew Gillum concedes in Florida governor's race (AP)

    HALLELUJAH!

    HALLELUJAH!

    HALLELUJAH!

Now if only the Demothugs and Theftocrats don't "find" or "create" pro-Nelson ballots and muck up the senate race, Florida should be safe –– for a few more years.

  8. I empathize with you AOW, as we're getting more falls here. One this week ended up with police involved and an ER visit. It's to hard to see.... so helpless. You get so tired. Prayers for you both.

And, yes, a bonafide card-carrying redhead complete with a broom (to ride around on) and a spare. :)

    1. The Wake of the Red Witch? ;-) Are you old enough to remember that?

So sorry to hear about falling in your house. It's happened to me more than once in the past ten years, and I live alone, so I ALWAYS use a WALKER, even if I'm just going to the john for a short visit.

      It helps, believe me.

Best to you, Bay, and HAVE a GOOD THANKSGIVING! –– no matter what.

  10. _________ GREEN EYES _________

Well, Green Eyes with their soft lights,
Your eyes that promise sweet nights,
Bring to my soul a longing, a thirst for love divine.
In dreams I seem to hold you, to find you and enfold you,
Our lips meet and our hearts, too, with a thrill so sublime.

Those cool and limpid Green Eyes -
A pool wherein my love lies.
So deep that in my searching for happiness
I fear that they will ever haunt me,
All through my life they'll taunt me.
But will they ever want me?
Green Eyes, make my dreams come true.

In that litle gem from 1941, first made popular by Jimmy Dorsey's Band, the lyrics may seem corny tmour more sophistiated ears today, but the music set to a lively-but-sultry rhumba beat is catchy, and once you've heard it, permanently engaging.
