How does this end?

Silverfiddle Rant!

Nancy Jacobson observes...
For decades now, both parties have worked to ratchet up the pressure and widen the divide, needling their adversaries when they were in power, and acting as obstructionists when they were out. Slowly, it’s gotten worse and worse.

Then she asks the money question:
When does it end and what’s the way out?
Her answer, "a unity ticket," doesn't satisfy.

What is your answer?  How does this end?

  1. Replies
    1. Only if we LET it.

  2. Most Americans have sold their political soul to the Duopoly, so to be blunt, they get what they deserve.

A potential [or partial] solution is viable political choice. But it's simply easier to divide intoi two neat groups...or "us" v. "them".

  3. How does it end?

Perhaps THIS "caravan" doesn't make that much dfference to us one way or the other, BUT an important PRINCIPLE is being violated if the mob of fourteen-thousand succeed in gaining entrance.

IF we let them get away with it, hundreds of thousands –– possibly MILLIONS –– of OTHERS from ALL OVER the WORLD will soon follow in their wake, and surely we shall be OVERRUN.

That means we will LOSE OUR COUNTRY to Foreign Invaders. Our goverment will cease to have ANY meaningful power whatsoever. We, therefore, will llive in ANARCHY and we will LOSE CONTROL of our SOVEREIGNTY and our DESTINY.

If that happens, we will have been rendered ripe for a complete TAKEOVER by Globalist Oligarchs who want above all else to establish a ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT administered by THEM, of course.

Inevitably, IF this is allowed to happen, WE will no longer be citizens with rights, we will be SLAVES to the whims, caprices, and selfish desires of these oligarchs.

The transformation will probably not occur overnight, but by allowing "caravans" such as the one headed our way now to enter with impunity, we will have taken a GIANT STEP toward fulfullment of the Ultimate Dream of the Globalists ALL of whom are would-be TYRANTS who favor MARXISM.

    1. On the news this morning:

A second caravan is forming right now in Honduras.

It is IMPERATIVE to prevent the caravan closer to our border right now from crossing over onto our soil. Not one child, not one woman, not one man. Period. Full stop.

Start unrolling the barbed wire that looks like a slinky. And electrify the damn thing.

    2. I wish it weren't the case, but you're right, Franco

    3. Even if Trump attempts to use various "powers" it will simply be taken to court and we know how that will probably go...

Why are they going the long way to Tijuana? 9th circuit, California but probably my tin foil showing.

    4. "First we kill all the lawyers," eh?

  4. The linked essay states:

Think, if McCain and Lieberman had won in 2008, how they might have governed. The last decade would not have been nearly so divisive — and we almost certainly wouldn’t have elected Donald Trump to the White House eight years later.

    Really? I doubt it.

How should this end? The Democratic Party should be banned as a seditious organization.

    1. I like some of the stuff from Third Way and No Labels, but this article was downright kooky.

    2. C'Mon, Silver. The Scriptures have told us very plainly there is a RIGHT Way, and a WRONG Way.

      There IS no THIRD Way.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to "COMPROMISE' with the DEVIL. Those who try end up in Hades AFTER they've succeeded in creating HELL on EARTH.

Not extreme, just a simple statement of eternal truth.

    3. Healthy political systems are all about compromise. Yahoogle some Reagan quotes on the subject.

    4. Yes, but NEVER with BAD FAITH interlocutors.

  5. My hunch would be it ends as it usually ends with a dictatorship....that of course after much conflagration and bloodshed.

  6. How does it end?

It doesn’t. Human beings are political animals. We may be a “United States,” but we are not now, and never have been a “united people.” We may be willing to send representatives to the Congress where they (supposedly) find ways to legislate for the good of the nation, but there is no willingness among the population to compromise on matters of principle. There are only two parties in the US: Americans and Socialists. Americans will continue to resist the socialists, and they in turn will continue to pursue their Marxist agenda. It doesn’t end. Ever.

    Sam H.

    1. I would agree, Sam, but I believe we WERE united –– with very few exceptions –– when we were forced to fight the Axis Powers during World War Two.

I was born before Pearl Harbor and so came to life during that war. I remember very well its aftermath, so I believe I know what I am saying, even though I was just a child at the time.

Of course, there have always been naysayers, malcontents, and fractious dissident elements like our beloved Enemy-in-Residence, Quackpot Canardo, but they had always been relegated to "The Lunatic Fringe" until they gained success in exploiting The Great Depression, and The Plight of the Negro in order to get a deathgrip on the levers of power.

The 1965 Immigration Act, which reopened he floodgates to let in the tired, poor, huddled masses from distinctly ALIEN, NON-WHITE cultures whose mores, religious beliefs and values are pointedly antithetical to those of OUR country, as founded, –– a wicked, deliberately subversive, agenda-driven LEFTIST initiative, of course, –– succeeded in sparking dissonance and divisiveness not seen since the outbreak of Lincoln's War of Northern Aggression against our Southern States –– conflict that left SIX-HUNDRED-THIRTY-FIVE-THUSAND Americans DEAD and countless millions, crippled, blinded, widowed, orphaned and hideously impoverished.

The result of the crypto-Marxian Progressives' rise to power has been to DISUNITE the country, and turn it into the chaotic conglomeration of warring splinter factions we have become in latter years.

  7. Fashions are changing in the sphere.
Oceans are asking wave by wave
    What new shapes will be worn next year;
And the mountains, stooped and grave,
Are wondering silently range by range
What if they prove too old for the change.

    --- Adrienne Rich

    1. PART ONE

Born Adrienne Cecile Rich May 16, 1929 Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Died March 27, 2012 (aged 82) Santa Cruz, California

      Education Radcliffe College
      Genre Poetry, non-fiction
Notable works Diving Into the Wreck

      National Book Award 1974
      Bollingen Prize 2003
      Griffin Poetry Prize 2010

Spouse Alfred Haskell Conrad (1953-1970; his death; 3 children)
      [Lesbian] Partner Michelle Cliff (1976-2012)

Adrienne Cecile Rich, an American poet, essayist and feminist was called "one of the most widely read and influential poets of the second half of the 20th century.", She was credited with bringing "the oppression of women and lesbians to the forefront of poetic discourse."

Her first collection of poetry, A Change of World, was selected by W. H. Auden for the Yale Series of Younger Poets Award. Auden went on to write the introduction to the published volume. She famously declined the National Medal of Arts, protesting the vote by House Speaker Newt Gingrich to end funding for the National Endowment for the Arts.

      Early Life and Education

Adrienne Rich was the elder of two sisters. Her father, renowned pathologist Arnold Rice Rich, was the chairman of pathology at The Johns Hopkins Medical School. Her mother, Helen Elizabeth (Jones) Rich, was a concert pianist and a composer. Her father was from a JEWISH family, and her mother was Southern Protestant; the girls were raised as CHRISTIANS.

Adrienne Rich's early poetic influence stemmed from her FATHER who encouraged her to read but also to write her own poetry. Her interest in literature was sparked within her father's library where she read the work of writers such as Ibsen, Arnold, Blake, Keats, Rossetti, and Tennyson.

Her FATHER was ambitious for Adrienne and "planned to create a prodigy."

Adrienne and her younger sister were taught at home by their mother until Adrienne began public education in the fourth grade.

The poems Sources and After Dark document her relationship with her FATHER describing how she worked hard to fulfill her parents' ambitions for her—moving into a world in which she was expected to excel.

    2. PART TWO

In later years, Rich went to Roland Park Country School, which she described as a "good old fashioned girls' school [that] gave us fine role models of single women who were intellectually impassioned."

After graduating from high school, Rich gained her college diploma at RACLIFFE College, where she focused primarily on poetry and learning writing craft, encountering no women teachers at all.

      In 1951, her last year at college, Rich's first collection of poetry, A Change of World, won Younger Poets Award for the Yale Series;

Following her graduation, Rich received a Guggenheim Fellowship to study at Oxford for a year. Following a visit to Florence, she chose not to return to Oxford, and spent her remaining time in Europe writing and exploring Italy.

In 1953, Rich married Alfred Haskell Conrad, an economics professor at Harvard she'd met as an undergraduate. She said of the match: "I married in part because I knew no better way to disconnect from my first family. I wanted what I saw as a full woman's life, whatever was possible." [NOTICE PLEASE SHE SAID NOTHING WHATSOEVER ABOUT LOVE]

They settled in CAMBRIDGE MASSACHUSETTS and had three sons. In 1955, she published her second volume, The Diamond Cutters a collectiodn she said she wished had not been published.

That year she also received the Ridgely Torrence Memorial Award from the Poetry Society of America. Her three children were born in 1955 (David), 1957 (Pablo) and 1959 (Jacob).

We are, I am, you are
      by cowardice or courage
the one who find our way
      back to this scene
      carrying a knife, a camera
      a book of myths
      in which
      our names do not appear.

      — From "Diving into the Wreck"

Diving into the Wreck: Poems 1971–1972 (1973)

The 1960s began a period of change in Rich's life: she received the National Institute of Arts and Letters award (1960), her second Guggenheim Fellowship to work at the Netherlands Economic Institute (1961), and the Bollingen Foundation grant for the translation of Dutch poetry (1962).

In 1963, Rich published her third collection, Snapshots of a Daughter-in-Law, which was a much more personal work examining her female identity, reflecting the increasing tensions she experienced as a wife and mother in the 1950s, marking a substantial change in Rich's style and subject matter.

In her 1982 essay "Split at the Root: An Essay on JEWISH IDENTITY", Rich states: "The experience of motherhood was eventually to radicalize me." The book met with harsh reviews. She comments, "I was seen as 'bitter' and 'personal' ... I realised I'd gotten slapped over the wrist, and I didn't attempt that kind of thing again for a long time."

Moving her family to NEW YORK in 1966, Rich became involved with the NEW LEFT and became heavily involved in anti-war, civil rights, and feminist activism.

Her husband took a teaching position at City College of New York.

In 1968, she signed the "Writers and Editors War Tax Protest" pledge, vowing to refuse tax payments in protest against the Vietnam War. Her collections from this period include Necessities of Life (1966), Leaflets (1969), and The Will to Change (1971), which reflect increasingly radical political content and interest in poetic form. ...

    3. One can't help but winder what the life of Rich's HUSBAND and CHILDREN must have been like? Haskell is dead, so we can't interview him, but the children now in their late fifties and early sixties, could be interviewed. I wonder how their lives have gone, and what feelings they have had and have today towards their mother. WIKI seems spectacularly silent on these questions.

    4. Rich's husband Alfred H. Conrad committed suicide at age 46 -- self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Her partner Michelle Cliff died of liver failure in 2012 at the age of 69.

    5. Franco,
She did, however, write about lesbian love. From her NYT obituary:

...Ms. Rich effectively came out as a lesbian in 1976, with the publication of “Twenty-One Love Poems,” whose subject matter — sexual love between women — was still considered disarming and dangerous....

    6. More from the above link:

... an influential essay, “Compulsory Heterosexuality and Lesbian Existence,” published as a slender volume in 1981; and the nonfiction book “Of Woman Born” (1976), which examines the institution of motherhood as a socio-historic construct...

    7. From Rich's official obituary at Legacy.com:

...After she left her husband, he committed suicide later in 1970. She later came out as a lesbian and lived with her partner, writer and editor Michelle Cliff, since 1976.

    8. Also from the official obituary:

"For me, socialism represents moral value — the dignity and human rights of all citizens," she told the San Francisco Chronicle in 2005. "That is, the resources of a society should be shared and the wealth redistributed as widely as possible."

Rich taught at many colleges and universities, including Brandeis, Rutgers, Cornell, San Jose State and Stanford...

    9. Duck,
What year was the poem published?

    10. It was published in 1951 in her first volume, A Change of World.

    11. Re the Lesbo's Commie Poem:

TRUTH is not subject to FASHION.

Only a fanatical Marximaniac could imagine the Mountains –– or any other elemental manifestation of Nature –– ought to have the capacity to welcome "CHANGE" and then be subject to negative JUDGMENT when it fails to comply.

    12. She was also a brilliant poet. One of the foremost in the second half of the 20th century.

But like many fundies you get hung up on sexuality.

  8. It ends when liberals wake up and realize what they've done and wonder where America went.....why is nobody supporting them? Why are our kids strung out on drugs and 10 yr old sex? Why is everybody stoned and serious countries don't allow drugs? Why don't we manufacture? Why did our health care go so badly?
    God forbid.

Funny that this bombing incident today is being called TERROR by the lefties because I've tried to call non-Muslim nightmares 'terror' and have been told by lefties, especially here at AOW, that "that is NOT terror!" Suddenly, when they can infer this is Conservatives sending the bombs (and they are inferring that), it's TERROR :=-) I love irony.

    1. Well stated. And to be clear: Bombing attempts of this type, regardless of the source, is domestic terrorism. I pray they catch the murderous bastards and lock them up before they kill or hurt anyone.

    2. With what's going on it's indicative that you would try to deflect the issue to the meaning of, terrorism.
For the record, I consider terrorism to be an act which is part of an organized political effort. If you don't wish to make the distinction, fine. It's not worth arguing.

More to the point would be the climate of contention and hate which you and the fringe right have been fostering since the days of early rabies radio. But now that you have a tiger by the tail you cowards are trying to walk it back (well some, others wallow in it).

But the problems are large and the right wing is so overcome by emotion and the abject fear of changing demographics that there just isn't room for anything but "blame" the left.

It would be a source of pathos if the right hadn't become so tunnel visioned and dangerous.

    3. These bomb scares appear to be politically motivated and affect the behavior of the larger populous, so yeah, it could fit the definition of terrorism.

As for the rest of your absurd logorrhea, get back to us when a rightwinger shoots up a leftwing political organization or shoots a congressman.

The Democrat Party is the home of leftwing violence. Ask you fascist Auntie Faw. Hint: She HATES Republicans.

    4. Ducky, TRUTH seems to be something you simply can't grasp. I think you know so well that none of us "fringe right' (where do you get that? Not ONE of us has ever shown anything as fringe right as the fringe left exhibits every day with their ridiculous socialist-loving 'progressives'!) ever has said anything close to denying legal immigrants into America. What 'fear' do you think it is...and why are you following the new DNC meme that we FEAR them because every single leftwing newscaster is now using the FEAR word, that can't be an accident. Did you get the memo?? How many times do I need to tell YOU that I'm first and second generation and proud of it? How many times do you have to hear legal immigrants who worked so hard to get here and are PROUD to be here, bemoan the illegals who not only are breaking the law but lumping themselves into "Hispanic" as if ALL Hispanics are doing wrong? To me, they're some of the best Americans we have today, and I hope and pray more can come here legally, learn English, show the affection so many of them do show for our country...far more than not only than the 'fringe left' but most lefties show by wanting Constitutional ignorance, no due process, etc..... Please, try to stick to the truth when you insult because it takes from your validity and dignity otherwise. thanks.

    5. LOGORRHEA, –– esecially when it emanates from a paltry poltroon of the caneton variety ––, has a putrid odor too closely resembling human DIARRHEA.

    6. Z, truth is elusive.
I use the term "fringe right" to refer to those who commit the fallacy of the excluded middle and calls anyone who believes in the value of the social welfare state or the need for central government in areas other than defense a communist.
Beliefs that often accompany that mindset are:

      Self correcting "free" market
      "Family" values
      American exceptionalism
      White supremacy (somewhat less common)

All of these are accepted uncritically.

  9. It does not end. It just recycles. Until... humans destroy themselves. The uneducated and ignorant are ultimately the fuse that will ignite the powder keg.

  10. I'm hoping for a divorce based on irreconcilable differences. The left can secede some states and create Libtardia. Just don't ask us for any money. In order to purge any undesirables in what's left of America, no free stuff for able-bodied people.

    1. It's a well established fact that the net flow of Federal spending is from blue to red states, kid.
Best be careful who the fringe right tries to stamp as undesirables.

    2. Ducky, please link to the study that supports your contention and provide us relevant statistical citations.

Or, reveal yourself to be a pathetic propaganda spreader useful idiot lacking the brains to think for yourself and logically evaluate what you hear before parroting it.

      Go ahead, we're waiting.

    3. The wait wasn't so bad

Remember, the left is here to help you lead the life of the mind.

    4. NONSENSE, Canardo! Anything YOU would recommend automatically qualifies as heavily biased INTELLECTUAL BURLESQUE –– i.e. political and philosophical FARCE.

    5. That's an opinion piece, not a study but OK. States that have higher costs of living usually pay more so they will have a bigger tax bite. That's not news.

The opinion piece you linked to also failed to break down the federal money flowing back to the states. Military bases? National Parks? Federal facilities? Are Social Security payments to Florida a "subsidy" from other states?

The opinion piece skirts a common sense fact: Any reimbursement of state taxes to an individual by the federal government is de-facto a federal subsidy.

Progressives tell the most twisted lies,
Begging us not to believe our eyes,
Don't believe your very own ears,
      Progressives shout their twisted smears

    6. SilverFiddle, it's beneath you to steal Freethinke's material like that without giving him the credit he deserves.

    7. The sources the duck tends to forage
Provide naught but left leaning garbage.
      May a toxic barrage
      Of fumes in a garage
End his ravings as would poisoned porridge!

QUESTION: Whatever would we do without our Ducky?

      ANSWER: Cartwheels!

    8. Nonsense silverfiddle. Kid's silly premie is that blue states would be less likely to be self sufficient.
      That simply isn't the case.

    9. Ducky, I try to avoid such arguments. We are a diversifies and specialized economy. We don't farm in our deserts or in our cities, and we don't put international finance centers in Podunk, USA, so I see such arguments as futile.

Gas, oil and minerals are extracted largely from more rural areas, as are food crops and livestock.

Incredible amounts of profit is booked in California due to the entertainment industry, and many cities host large corporations and finance centers that book big time GDP, but you can't eat those profits, and the cities need the items I mentioned that are produced in the hinterlands and trucked in, so we are a well-functioning economy full of people who rely on one another.

    10. California...46% of the land is owed by the federal government thus maintained by US taxpayers, 32 military bases maintained by the taxpayer funded US government all supplying US taxpayer funded paychecks to residents, $600 Billion of US taxpayer money awarded to defense contractors headquartered in California...

Oh, and Californis, despite being 12% of the US population is 35% of Americans on welfare.

"It's a well established fact that the net flow of Federal spending is from blue to red states, kid."

That's a fierce crack addiction you have there, Ducky.

    11. $600 Billion with a B to California-based defense contractors alone is over half of California's GDP.

    12. Since there arent many blue states, maybe we should count all the cash coming out of those deep blue inner city neighborhoods.

  11. My prediction on the mailed bombs: Leftwing activists.

    1. As much as that can be the case....there's an equal chance that it was the work of some [or an] rightwing "activists". There's as many unhinged on the right as the left.

Explosive forensics can generally, easily identify the culprit. We should know soon enough.

    2. An obvious "FALSE FLAG" operation calculated to try to make the Right look bad enough to engender a significant number of "sympathy votes" for the Left on November 6.

Notice please that none of these "bombs" exploded. No one has been maimed, killed, or even mildly injured. That ALONE should be enough to tell us this series of blatanly theatrical scare tactics are nothing but a Leftist HOAX.

    3. CI, BS, We don't attack libtards, we laugh at them. Now, link us to an attack by a verifiable Conservative against the left. We'll wait.

    4. “Huge Clue” –– Several Bombs Sent Out Today with ZERO Detonations — Very Suspicious

      Gateway Pundit,

      by Christina Laila

Several mail bombs were sent to Democrat leaders Wednesday–none of which detonated. The Secret Service announced that suspicious packages were sent to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. George Soros, NY Governor Cuomo, former AG Eric Holder, Rep. Maxine Waters were also sent mail bombs. The return address name on the suspicious packages sent to Clinton, Obama, Holder and Maxine Waters belonged to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. None of the bombs detonated which is a “huge clue” according to federal agents working on a theory. Investigative journalist Adam Housley spoke to federal agents who said the fact that none of the ...

  12. Bombs sent to Trump foes: Here´s what we know

    Washington Examiner,

    by Caitlin Yilek

An array of Trump critics around the country were sent potential explosive devices this week. None of the devices detonated, unless by authorities, and no one has been reported injured, but the scare has shaken both the political world and the media.Authorities have yet to say they have a suspect. Among those who were sent the packages were former President Barack Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton, former CIA Director John Brennan, and left-wing billionaire George Soros. Suspicious packages have also been found outside the offices of Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., and addressed to former Attorney General Eric Holder. Here´s a ...

  13. Trump, at Wisconsin rally, decries threats of violence as ´attack on democracy itself´ after explosive devices sent to Dems

    Fox News,

    by Gregg Re

At a major campaign rally in Wisconsin on Wednesday evening, President Trump decried any threats of political violence as "an attack on our democracy itself," saying "we want all sides to come together in peace and harmony" -- and he also took aim at the media, saying they are contributing to the problem. His comments came just hours after apparent explosive devices were sent to a series of top Democratic politicians, including former President Barack Obama, former Attorney General Eric Holder and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. "My highest duty as president is to keep America safe," Trump told ...

    America’s Cold Civil War

  15. Silverfiddle...some of my readers feel that way, too...this thing stinks to high heaven. Who was the Prof who had to admit recently that it was she who'd sent her threatening letters "from the right"? That's happened twice in the last 1 or 2 months....leftwingers trying to trap the Right with threats that the 'victim' perpetrated......the Left has no scruples, doesn't care...got to kill those babies, stop American progress and hate as hard as possible. SO sad.

    1. By GOD you've GOT IT!

dOur friend Z has GOT IT!

A succinct, perfectly phrased statement of undeniable veracity. Nothing more needs to be said.

KUDOS to you, Mme Z –– and THANKS as well!

  16. Another pipe bomb this morning -- Tribeca Films in NYC. Tribeca is affiliated with Robert De Niro.

    1. Addendum: this device was addressed to De Niro himself.

    2. A shame none of these devices killed or maimed their targets. That proves they were fakes intended to direct suspicion at conservatives. If a csnservative had made a real bomb, you can be sure it would hve blown the head off or blinded any one of the rotten bastards to whom it was directed. But conservatives are too decent, too good, too principled and too respectful of the law ever to do anything like that.

    3. It is NOT a shame. It would be a shame if they had.
A shame on a murderous coward had the intent to blow up someone who should in fact have been shamed and disgraced.
Or a shame on an agent provocateur who couldn't construct a fake without it unintentionally blowing up.

  17. Duck, Nope, Kid's premise is that socialism, multiculturalism, open borders and all the the other moronic things the left is begging for will turn their new country into a bankrupt shithole in a very short time.

The new America will not give free stuff to able-bodied people of working age, so get ready to take all that human refuse in as well.
