Musical Interlude For Halloween

(For politics, please scroll down)

Time for some spooky music — and not one of the musical selections often associated with Halloween:

With any luck at all, she'll soon be known a DUNGEONillary.

    ____________ Black Cat ____________

A ghost, though invisible, still is like a place
your sight can knock on, echoing; but here
within this thick black pelt, your strongest gaze
will be absorbed and utterly disappear:

just as a raving madman, when nothing else
can ease him, charges into his dark night
howling, pounds on the padded wall, and feels
the rage being taken in and pacified.

She seems to hide all looks that have ever fallen
into her, so that, like an audience,
she can look them over, menacing and sullen,
and curl to sleep with them. But all at once

    as if awakened, she turns her face to yours;
and with a shock, you see yourself, tiny,
inside the golden amber of her eyeballs
    suspended, like a prehistoric fly.

    ~ Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926)

Be sure to check out the Three Ghost Rags by William Bolcom I posted at Western Hero earlier today.

Either that, or just Google Three Chost Rags by William Bolcom YuTube, and several different performances will come right up.

Lotsa pertinent poetry over there too.

    1. FT,
I nabbed those three rags and may post them for Halloween 2017.

I've been planning to attend the Halloween Ball as disguised Hillary Clinton, but I changed my mind since Jim Comey's latest announcement hit the news.

I don't look well in sackcloth, and just couldn't stand wearing those darned THUMB SCREWS!
