Break From Politics

(For politics, please go to THIS THREAD)

I hope that you will take a few moments to enjoy this video, one of my Facebook finds:

The Mountain from TSO Photography on Vimeo.

From the blurb at Vimeo:
This was filmed between 4th and 11th April 2011. I had the pleasure of visiting El Teide.

Spain´s highest mountain @(3718m) is one of the best places in the world to photograph the stars and is also the location of Teide Observatories, considered to be one of the world´s best observatories.

The goal was to capture the beautiful Milky Way galaxy along with one of the most amazing mountains I know El Teide....

  1. The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?

He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. .

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory.

    1. Yes, Ed! I am grateful to our friend, Kid, for frequently reminding us through his interest in astronomy of our relative insignificance in the vast, illimitable context of all God's Creation.

  4. I thought of Kid when I saw what this was, too.

  5. What a video for today. Just the music alone - we really needed that calmness in our household. Be sure to note the Sahara sandstorm the author comments that starts at 32 seconds. He said he couldn't see the sky with his eyes, but what a capture.

  6. AOW, yes, what unlimited beauty surrounds us. Thanks so much for tonight's glimpse. And imagine living in a time with no light pollution that you could see the Milky way and the universe every night with you unaided vision. No wonder people were fixated on it to the point of naming constellations and building monuments to it.

    FT, Z, Thanks.
