BREAKING! Headquarters for the Naval Sea Systems Command breached!

Active shooter(s) at the Washington Navy Yard, less than a mile from the U.S. Capitol. Multiple people shot there, and all inside have been ordered to shelter in place.

The Navy Yard is an extremely secure facility! Documents with the highest classification! This facility houses the command center for naval operations in the eastern Mediterranean.

Breaking coverage at WTOP.

UPDATE @ 3:34 P.M., EDT: This screen shot appears to a photo of Aaron Alexis, who has now been named as the suspect:

At this point, 12 are confirmed dead.

According to the Washington Post:
...The first, sketchy details about the suspect give no hints about what may have gone wrong.

Aaron Alexis, 34, grew up in Brooklyn with his mother, Sarah, and father, Anthony Alexis, according to his aunt Helen Weeks.

“We haven’t seen him for years,” Weeks said of her nephew in a telephone interview. “I know he was in the military. He served abroad. I think he was doing some kind of computer work.”

A 2007 Navy Ti
mes feature cites an Aaron Alexis as having graduated from Navy boot camp that year from the Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Its unclear if this is the same Alexis, but the newspaper listed his occupational specialty as an airman recruit. A deleted web profile of an Aaron Alexis listed him as being stationed at Naval Air Station in Fort Worth.

Officials said police theorize that there may be additional shooters because of witness accounts and surveillance video among other information. One of those officials also said all the weapons were not accounted for....

At least ten shot at Washington Navy Yard by gunman armed with AR15 rifle - and he's still on the loose

Initial reports are that two gunmen opened fire this morning at the Washington Naval Yards in Washington D.C.

Another is a base officer of the naval base
All of the people wounded are in critical condition, authorities said.

  2. THREE GUNMEN?

Yes, THREE BLACK GUNMEN just in case anyone is curious.

Washington Post reporting there are two shooters at D.C. Naval Base, one in fatigues
Latest: One shooter described as 6 ft male, African American, bald with assault rifle. At least several confirmed injured, some fatally, including security personnel. Swat team now on premises but suspect still at large, believed holed up in room. President has been notified.
Update: Shooter contained and wounded but not in custody; several killed, at least 10 wounded

      Any name(s)?

    2. No, AOW, the early reports are conflicting as usual.
Right now it isn't even known how many shooters there were and early reports say they were racially mixed.

Some reports of someone who was recently "sequestered" but this is still in the "fog of war".

    3. Duck,
There was a report of three involved -- two black and one white. The white one has now been ruled out and is no longer a person of interest.

The most recent information I've found, and all the local news stations are announcing the BOLO:

...[Chief of Police Lanier described the other possible suspect, who has not been located, as a black man in his 40s with gray sideburns, wearing an olive-drab military-style uniform. He, and the man who was cleared, came under suspicion when they were seen on surveillance videos....

  3. I'm hearing on CNN that emergency-response teams are now moving into a location that is not the Navy Yard. A different location -- so say the reports right now.

  8. This FACT is just in....: At least 12 dead in Washington Navy Yard shootings..

we need to ban all guns, knives, sticks, and stones and drugs that will stop them.. Next make sure no lawful Americans can be protected by the bill of Rights. Then we need to ban cars since more people are killed and hurt in them then by firearms. And after than we'll work on banning Airplanes. Also lets not forget that there are many children die by drowning every year in backyard pools. And there can be no argument that NO one REALLY NEEDS a backyard pool.

    Great liberal idea.

    1. Yes, 12 confirmed dead.

And, according to Police Chief Lanier, the search for two others who might have been involved in the murders inside the Navy Yard are still being searched for: one a black man, age 40-50, and one a white man, age 40-50.

  9. First Lady: Obama Will 'Shake His Groove Thing' tonight:

Michelle Obama says the beats and melodies in Latin music are so irresistible that even President Barack Obama "will shake his groove thing" Monday night.

Gloria Estefan, Romeo Santos, Lila Downs, Marco Antonio Solis and other top Latin musicians are joining the Obamas to tape the latest installment of the PBS series, "In Performance at the White House." It will celebrate the various styles of Latin music during Hispanic Heritage Month, which began Sunday.

Obama is scheduled to make brief remarks.

The first lady spoke during a late-morning workshop for local high school students with some of the artists, including Estefan and her husband, Emilio, of Miami Sound Machine.

Monday's taping will be live-streamed on the White House website, http://www.whitehouse.gov/live , and broadcast nationally by PBS stations on Oct. 8.

  10. It has become painfully obvious in the last twelve years that "SECURITY" is a MYTH. There IS no such thing as security.

The attempts to achieve "Security," however, have resulted in increasing DESPOTISM in the NAMES of Safety and Fairness. (That means I agree with Ducky, Heaven forfend! ;-)

TWELVE have been reported DEAD in this attack so far. If "major media" will report such a figure without thorough verification, what hope is there that TRUTH will EVER be known?

Frankly, I wouldn't be BIT surprised if it turned out that the fanatical anti-gun tyrannists in the current administration hadn't set this up, and happily "sacrificed" a few innocent lives in order to aid in gaining the ABSOLUTE POWER they seek over our individual lives. Don't think it hasn't happened before. History is REPLETE with examples no doubt.

Machiavelli is alive and well -- and running the White House -- as we wear our fingers to the bone generating impotent squeals of anguish.

How much do you know about the Navy Yard?

A lot of people access the facility by vehicle. Trust me that all vehicles and their drivers are vetted in advance.

Now, there is pedestrian access because of the nearby Metro station. Hey, let's blame public transportation!

Piggybacking on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s dismissal of American exceptionalism in the New York Times last week, a member of the Russian parliamentary foreign affairs committee tweeted out a disgusting comment in the midst of the unfolding Navy Yard shooting this morning.

Here’s the original tweet from Alexey Pushkov, head of the foreign affairs committee of Russia's house of parliament..

“A new shootout at Navy headquarters in Washington – a lone gunman and 7 corpses. Nobody’s even surprised anymore. A clear confirmation of ‘American exceptionalism.’”

Pushkov statement was sent out in English and in Russian. I'd bet that the Obama supporters are all upset now.
The Liberal’s new Russian rising star Putin is getting a bit feisty, isn’t he. .

And people still doubt that nefarious moguls pull strings and finance dastardly deeds from behind the scenes?

I posted those questions at Infidel Bloggers Alliance and got little feedback.

Anonymous here at this blog has asked these questions:

Why did he go to Thailand? What was the purpose of his visit?

I wonder who paid for his trip and with whom he stayed in Thailand?

Obama's TASTELESSNESS and BOORISH INSENSITIVITY in his speech yesterday afternoon was so disgusting that most news networks cut away from the speech and went back to coverage of the events at the Navy Yard.

I doubt that there is a drugs connection. The toxicology testing post mortem will put that matter to rest.

As for the differences in the photos, this thread of comments provides a few clues.

But I have to wonder if part of the bloat I see could be attributed to legal pharmaceutical (psychotropic medications for Aaron Alexis's serious mental problems). Neuro meds of all types are notorious for causing rapid weight gain.

Aaron Alexis has two more encounters with the law, in addition to the two gun uses in 2004 and 2010.

After the shootings at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., on September 16, 2013, jihadists expressed their joy and their hope that the attack came in response to the recent speech by Ayman al-Zawahiri in which the al-Qaeda leader called for strikes in America.

Users on the top-tier jihadi forums Shumukh al-Islam and al-Fida’ wrote, for example,

“O blessings, your prayer O Sheikh Ayman [has been answered]… Here are the lone-wolves working from within the headquarters of the Marines,” and “Allah willing, this is a response to the speech of Sheikh al-Zawahiri”.

  28. The denial of the Democratic Partisan by people like Ducky here, Shaw Kenew, and the rest of the Rat Pack has grown to bizarre levels. Aren't these koolaide drinkers even concerned that Obama has waged war every just about every single day as President. Remember when he promised not to "meddle" in his fraudulent pacifist campaign of 2008? Do you like the numerous drone assassinations? Do you still believe the cost of health care is going down? Do you like the idea Obama has massively expanded spying on all Americans and everyone else around the world? Are you happy the USA has reached an historic high poverty rate after just 4 years of Obama as President? Are pleased a recent global PEW Study revealed the USA is now seen in a far more negative manner in the Middle East under Obama, then it was under the Bush Administration? Are you concerned with the reality the Obama Administration was warned by other Countries about the extreme Militants who created the tragic Boston Bombing and did nothing?

So many questions, so much vapid denial.

What about the promises on employment levels if the Obama Stimulus was passed?

Indeed, we are still not where we were promised. In fact, we have the lowest employment participation rate in 34 Years. Unemployment would be close to 12%, if standards were the same used during the GW Bush Presidency.
Obama is no match t oa pro like Putin when it come to playing with war. Compared to Putin, Obama is a midget,
Ignorance is a product of desperate partisan addiction, following fashion over substance. When one loses their objectivity, fails to study basis, begins to embrace cliched political bigotry, they are the truly lost. The dysfunctional Democratic Party is not worth enabling, no matter how fashionable. It seems like Obama just handed the Nobel Peace Prize to Putin.
