  2. I love you & Mr. AOW, not only because of the blogging but because you've set a fine example for us all showing what real love is all about. You ARE a Super Couple! God bless you both. I am delighted that you like the award.

  3. Zilla,
    Thanks for the compliment.

Mr. AOW and I do take our vows seriously.

In June, we will have been married 40 years. Despite Mr. AOW's disabilities, we may splurge and go to a fancy resort hotel -- locally, that is. He's not ready for the road trip we'd like to make: to Steubenville, Ohio.

  4. Congratulations!

And 40 years of loving and supporting one another is something to really be proud of.

  5. CONGRATULATIONS to BOTH of YOU!

I echo all the nice things said above -- and all soon to come as well.

A suggestion: The last time I checked -- admittedly more than 15 years ago -- The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, VA was a real joy to behold in every regard. The historic architecture alone was worth the trip.

I stayed there during an AGO Convention, and had a really grand time. The place is loaded with Old World charm.

In Washington there's The Willard, The Jefferson and The Hay Adams (I think). I always wanted to stay at one of those, but never did. I knew too many people in the area who offered hospitality to justify the expense.

Don't know if any of that appeals to you, AOW. I'm sure you know better than I what's good in the area these days.

There's always The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs. My grandfather supervised the installation of the kitchen there back in the 1920's, but I've never been there. I'm sure none of Grandpa's work survives, but I understand the place is still good.

Another is The Inn at Little Washington. Friends of mine who lived in Chevy Chase but moved to Annapolis, because they love sailing, swear by it.

Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy the heck out of it.

  6. FT,
I have to choose a hotel with handicapped access and handicapped amenities.

I've never staying in the hotels you mentioned, but I've certainly heard wonderful things about them.

During my Easter break from classes, I'll start hunting around.

  10. Congrats. A little recognition is always nice.

Did you know that Ron Paul was just endorsed by the last head of the CIA as being the one candidate most capable of protecting America from the Islamists? The link: http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/10420-top-cia-terror-expert-endorses-ron-paul-in-gop-race

Now to go check out what you were telling me about D.C. ripoffs. Have a good one.

  14. Thersites,
What a nice thing to say!

Your kind words have lifted my spirits on this day when I've been felled hard by a cold. The only good thing about this cold is that I have no appetite -- a good thing when one wishes to drop a few pounds (holiday pounds, of course).

  15. Hey Always, that's great news, Awesomeness love it. Congrats.

Hope you two have been well and Mr Always is better.

  17. I like your blog because you allow open debate and your nor spewing overt hate.

Having said that and with all respect given, I personally think sharing such an award with the likes of the other recipients is in fact a slap in the face. Guilt by association?

I think your better than them in every aspect.

  18. D Charles,
I don't see it as a slap in the face nor any kind of guilt, either.

Fact: None of us can read the heart of any other human being. Not really.

I do thank you for complimenting me as not a spewer of hate. Of course, I don't see other blogs as hate spewers -- although you do.

Freedom of expression and of opinion is what it is, and, yes, I do advocate an open forum here. Messy? Sure. But, in the end, the readers of any and all web sites must come to their own conclusions. Not all readers are sheeple.

I do believe that truth will triumph -- in the long run. In the short run, probably not.

Now, back to nursing the cold from hell. Sick or not, I have errands to run today. **sigh**

  19. Benning,
For whatever reason, when I visit your blog, the format is all askew. I'm finding it difficult to bring up posts and to comment on them.

Hope that you see this comment!

  20. AOW,

I also am suffering a horrible flu and chest infection.

For my part I am very much into natural medicines as I dislike to many artificial substances in my already battered and abused body (years of overweight, malt whiskey and a regular cigar smoker).

What I find works well for me is I drink tea or even hot milk with fresh sage in it, it is also a very good blood sugar and blood pressure stabilizer. If you have some, may I suggest you try it.

At present I take my anti-biotic and codine, the rest is herbal.

Take care and stay out of chills and breezes.

Your no good to your husband if you fall down or present him with a risk, right?

    ReplyDelete
  21. D Charles,
I actually like sage, so that might be worth a try.

So far, I haven't developed any lung congestion.

I do have some backup plans for caregiving -- should I need them. And thank goodness for the crock pot! I've got something cooking there right now so that I won't have to cook for most of the rest of this week.
