Asylum Abuse

Silverfiddle Rant!

What we have on the border is--to use a military term--a sh*tshow. Another military term that starts with "cluster" is the more apt term, but this is a family blog.

Our government clearly lacks the resources to handle such a surge of humanity. Our laws and lack of enforcement encourage abuse of our generosity and hospitality.

Regardless of your position, this article provides a good summary of the situation

Trump immigration change would all but end asylum requests for Central American migrants
The proposal "will decrease forum shopping by economic migrants and those who seek to exploit our asylum system to obtain entry to the United States," Attorney General William Barr said in a statement.
When people leave Central America and cross Mexico to violate our borders, that is exactly what they are doing: Forum shopping. By definition, true refugees or asylees fleeing a bad situation in their home country have found refuge when they get to another country.

Read stories about people coming here from other continents. Many go through five to 15 nations to get to the US. That is a gross abuse, and such people should be turned away at the border, and if found here in the US, forcibly deported to the last country they were in before crossing illegally into the US.

President Trump is also reversing Obama decrees granting asylum to victims of domestic abuse and gang violence. We have both of those here in the US. Just ask the Central American families on Long Island how the whole "escaping gang violence" is working out. MS-13 doesn't recruit white kids. They prey on children from Central America.

Election 2020 will be a referendum on illegal immigration

Do we want border enforcement and sensible immigration policy that includes swift rejection and deportation of abusers?

Or do we want what Democrats offer, which includes abolishing ICE, decriminalizing illegal entry into the US, free health care for illegal immigrants, and a stop to all ICE enforcement, including carrying out deportation orders issued by federal judges to deport criminal aliens?

  1. "Cluster...." is indeed correct.

    We should have placed a moratorium on all immigration, through all means, until we established a coherent and effective national policy and enforcement mechanisms.

    Anything short of that....gives us what we currently have: a clownshow

    4. Our laws are laws are toothless and full of legal loopholes, and Democrats and Republicans like it that way.

      Swarms of verminous lawyers are hollowing us out. I see no end to it.

    5. Yes, of course, Silver. That seems obvious to anyine not brai[nd dead, but the question is WHY have things deteriorated to such abysmal levels in less than a century?

      Specifically what corruptive forces have been brought to bear upon our admittedly-imperect-but-once-vibrant society that caused such a massive cnage for the worse in just a few short decades?

      I don't believe mega-changes happens by accident. "Something" just HAS to have been responsible for setting us on the Downward Path.

      I've been trying for years to encourage people to STOP FRETTING and BICKERING over SYMPTOMS, and probe more deeply to find the CAUSE of the moral, intellectural and spiritual diseases that plague us.

  2. Sorry, but the corporate moneyed elites are perfectly happy with the current policy of non-enforcement. It's not going to change.

Yes, Jo, but I think it's only fair to stipulate that it is the HUGE, MULtI-NATIONAL, GLOBALIST corporations who seek to UNDERMINE and DESTROY U.S. Sovereignty who are respnsible for this NOT the myriad spurely domestic, small, Mom and Pop-style corporations who are desperately trying to make a living DESPITE overbearing government intervention inimical to the health and strength of small, American-owned, often localized businesses operating within the confines of the USA.

      Corporations squatting here are no more "American" than Pol Pot or Angela Merkel.

      I don't think they want to destroy us. No smart parasite wants to destroy the host. The international Corporations have our government on a lease and doing tricks for them.

    4. Doesn't Trump run an "international corporation?"

    5. I know what you're saying, Silver, but I wish you had acknowldged the clear line of demarcation I tried to draw emphasizing the BIG differences between small-scale-home-grown corporations and the MULTI-NATIONAL behemoths, that are in fact doing great harm to OUR American Way of Life.

      OUR incredibly STUPIDD, SHORT-SIGHTED, VENAL CONGRESS makes BLANKET ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL LAWS THAT HAMPER SMALL BUISNESS WHILE CONGRESS SHOULD DISCRIMINATE BETWEEN SMALL DOMESTIC CORPORATIONS AND HUGE INTERNATIONAL FORCES THAT KNOW NO ALLEGIANCE TO ANYTHING BUT THEIR OWN SELFISH INTERESTS.

      ONE SIZE NEVER HAS AND NEVER WILL "FIT ALL," WHICH IS WHY I HAVE SO LITTLE RESPECT FOR THE LAW WHEN IT'S CLEAR "THE LAW IS AN ASS" CREATED B STUPID, SELFISH, FECKLESS FOOLS AND FEARSOME FIENDS.

      [PS: Please forgive the use of All Caps. My arthritic fingers slip onto the shift key too early, and before I know it I've type a full paragraph or more in caps. Jus don't feel like retyping it all. PITA!]

    Absolutely.

    1. I'm not as certain, outside of the vocal camps on each side. The Left has certainly shown their cards, but the Administration has shown itself unable to solve the problem....even with a GOP controlled Congress.

      Delete
    2. The Dems will try to make it about their issues like health care, and that indeed is a powerful issue. And the fact that everyone recognizes it as a Democrat issue is a damning indictment of the fumbling, bumbling Repubelicons.

    3. True enough, but how could "the adminstration," [meaning, I suppose, "President Trump,"] possibly solve this crisis when everyone in the DemonRat party –– and far too many members the GOP –– steadfastly refuse to cooperate with the president? NOT because Mr. Trump has bad ideas, or is poorly motivated. but simply because he IS Donald J. Trump –– a figure the Establishment finds threatening, because he is doing his best to weaken the deathgrip of the Swamp and the near-permanent incumbency of venal, stupid and otherwise horribly flawed members of congress.

      Delete
    4. Suppose all you like. I wrote Administration.....and I meant Administration. That actually puts more people on the blame line for failing to get their own party to pass their agenda.

      If you want to place the blame all at the feet of Trump, I won't stand in your way.

      Delete
    5. The immigration crisis is not President Trump's fault. The law, the judges, entrenched bureaucracies and congress are all opposing him at every turn.

      I lay it all at the feet of Repubelicons--and in this, Trump does share the blame. They had it all for two year and did nothing. They also could have done some market reform as the beginnings of attempting to restore some sanity to our health care markets.

      Our federal government is a bloated, corporate-fed cyclops, flailing around and indiscriminately hurting people and damaging things. At this point, if government ever does any good, it is by accident.

      Delete
    6. In acrtual fact the Establishment –– including the bitter, blind, surly, frankly stupid, nit picking bigots called Never Trumpers –– cares a great deal more about trying to destroy President Trump than they do about improving our prospects as a country.

      And IF they succeed in implementing their nefarious, blockheaded agenda, we will ALL suffer greatly for it.

      President TRUMP is NOT "The Problem." His vicious, short-sighted, bigotted, vituperative, wholly dishonest, fiercely unprincipled, mindlessly vindictive opposition IS.

      Delete
    7. SF, you're certainly correct, the immigration problem goes back decades. And as you know quite well, leadership begins and ends at the top.

      Apparently, sometimes the buck stops....sometimes it gets passed. Each occasion is another illustration of integrity.

    8. Most "NeverTrumpers" I know voted for the same Republican candidates every one else held their nose and voted for, and held their noses too. I'm a "NeverTrumper" but more accurately I'm a Not-Republican. I was done with the GOP in 2008, sent my membership card back torn in convenient suppository sized pieces and included with elaborate instructions on where to shove them. Trump is not the problem. To that I agree. Trump is the birdshit covered pizza you get when you order birdshit pizza.

      Delete
    9. Yep. I appreciate the style in which you politely decline membership in the GOP!

      I differentiate "not-Republican" and "never-Trump"....because it's the Republican who has to decide to either support and vote for Trump...or not to. That's where the "never-Trumpers" reside...not outside the party.

      For many though, it's just a lazy pejorative in lieu of any substance in their emotion-laden argument.

    10. Repubelicons are only marginally better than Demoncraps, but that margin is getting thinner and thinner.

      My only motivation for voting GOP is because I have a visceral dislike of the loudmouth anti-American leftists in the Democrat Party.

      Lets' face it: Both parties are:

      $ Globalist
      $ Corporate-sponsored
      $ Pro-illegal immigration (Democrats actively, GOOP passively)
      $ More debt
      $ More H1B visas to feed the greedy Silicon Valley pigs
      $ More federal government
      $ Just fine with corporate speech codes that shut people out of the wholly-owned corporate public square

      Judges are pretty much the only reason I have left to vote for Repubelicons. Aside from that, I can find not material evidence (legislation/laws) that they are any better than Demoncraps.

  4. The Democrats try to make it about healthcare and then drop the ball by backing a plan which discards private health insurance and extends "free health care" to people who are in the country illegally. The stupidity is astounding.

    The local news in San Diego has been repeating for more than a month a story about a former Marine who served in the USMC and Army Reserve. His wife and child have become citizens. He went to visit family in Belize and is now not allowed to return to the US. The story goes, "He served his country and now he is not allowed to return home." They do not mention that he enlisted in the USMC fraudulently, using forged residency papers.

    Democratic candidates rant that it should not be a felony to enter the US without permission. The fact that it is a felony is due to a law passed by Congress. Seven candidates are current members of Congress who could submit a bill in Congress to change that law. None of them have done so.

    Separation of children at the border is done pursuant to a law passed by Congress than children may not be detained in facilities with adults, and by a law passed by Congress making it a felony to enter the country without permission. Facilities to hold people detained at the border cost money. When the executive branch charged with executing laws passed by Congress says that facilities are full and that it needs more money to continue executing the laws passed by Congress, Congress says no. It then calls the President a criminal for carrying out his constitutional duty to execute the laws passed by Congress.

    This nation's government is fatally broken.

      I used to think only the left employed the Hegelian Dialectic and attempted to drive public hysteria for a "solution" the left has all planned out ahead of time.

      Now, I see how all government and all parties end up causing crises that require more government action, which causes new and different crises, which require more government action...

  6. Kamala Harris is the Female virgin of Barack Obama, but not quite as bold and as stupid as Colin Kaepernick, but she is willing to exploit race for her personal gain, and is likely – like Obama to leave the United States more racially divided than ever before. And, in return for their support, Blacks in America are likely to see the same type of treatment from Harris that they received under the elitist Obama, as we already see with her pushing for "Reparations".

    1. It's rather silly to "Thank God I'm not a liberal." God doesn't make them liberals, and he doesn't make me otherwise. They are the way they are be because they choose to be that way, just as I am the way I am because I choose to be this way. God gave all us the capacity for rational thought, and I use it one way while they use it another.
