He Died For Me

(For politics, please scroll down)

Lyrics:
24. Chorus: Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows! He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him. (Isaiah 53: 4-5)

25. Chorus: And with His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53: 5)

26. Chorus: All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way. And the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

  1. Beautiful selection.. Christmas and Easter are not complete without portions of the Messiah by Handel. Such memories as our Church choir that struggled mightily to perform selections!

    1. Bunkerville,
I feel the same about Handel's oratiorio and masterpiece.

  2. TODAY is GOOD FRIDAY the day which OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST SUFFERED and DIED to REEDEEM US from OUR OUR SINS:

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.
See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
    That were a present far too small;
    Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.

    1. FT,
One of my favorite hymns! We memorized all the words to all the verses when I was in 5th grade -- in a Christian school which used a traditional hymnal.
