Political Perseveration

[definition of perseveration]

On the other hand, maybe this is the project that Obama has in mind:

  2. His PROJECT, huh? I think it's his hope to make this whole country LIKE "the PROJECTS"...if you know what I mean.
Ya, Obama and other leftwingers aren't finished yet.......if there's anything the Dems know it's:
    A. Nobody should be poor
    B. Nobody should be offended.
    C. Nobody should respect Conservative values
    D. No independent person paying his own bills should have any choices ...except abortion...
    etc etc.

Let's hope there won't be another president who'll keep those things as HIS PROJECT.

  3. Obama and his ilk are on a Long March. He announced his project at the beginning of his reign: The fundamental transformation of this nation.

Did anyone catch the First Lady's commencement address at Tuskegee? She knows how to rouse a rabble, and she, her husband and their gang of merry leftwing pranksters will continue the project after they leave office.

I still believe she could run for Senator from her own Illinois, or any state she could carpetbag to, then on to the presidency.

    2. That speech was so disheartening; I maintain that some of those kids weren't too impressed, either. I hope and pray some people think "What's she talking about?"
Things were SO less 'racist' before his election. I don't know how much it would take a woman like her to trust that most Americans are NOT RACIST. Doesn't becoming First Lady TWICE mean something?

    1. can you show where racism is included in anything above?
And, if you actually are silly enough to suggest ANY criticism of this president is racist, can you explain why conservatives would vote for a Black man or woman with our values tomorrow if we could?
The mental activity of leftwingers always kind of stuns me; maybe you can help?

    2. We'll just have to take Liberalman's comments literally: people who hate tea baggers resort to juvenile expressions of racism. We've seen a fair amount of THAT recently - just not on any entries on this blog post.

  7. Baysider... I did not see Liberalmann's comments, but having read him in the past, I can imagine...

AOW has worked hard to maintain a blog devoid of much of the ad hominem attacks and juvenile language seen on many blogs, both liberal and conservative.

I've always maintained that at the least, we should be able to communicate with those with whom we differ without resorting to terms like do*&hb#g, rethuglican, libturds, Ovomit, etc.

    Apparently, that's not true.

Uhoh.....don't tell me this isn't a 3-yr old suit. Gee. A friend emailed me this and I thought you've probably seen it, AOW, but proof positive. This stuff's going on

    1. Z: Sadly, there are outlets on both sides who get clicks by spinning people up with outrageous stories that upon closer examination are not really so outrageous, like this one where a kook activist law professor exploits our idiotic legal system with frivolous lawsuits. In this case there are no protesting Muslim students to be found.

      Go check out these links:

    3. Thanks, SF...but I believe that video of Hannity, Sokolov and the Muslim says volumes. Do you think the requests to Catholic U to give prayer rooms to Muslims, arguing that Jesus is disconcerting to them is made up by me? thanks.

    4. By the way, SF, you don't really think that's news to me, DO you? I'm constantly warning anybody not to quote from WND or Free Republic, so I'd have hoped you knew me better than that.
I don't need some kook lawyer to make any point, pro or con. And, by the way, the lawyero.....does he make up the suits, or??

      Delete
    5. I think the request by Muslim students for a prayer space is an accommodation that can easily be made by the university.
America is actually pretty good at that sort of thing and it's a strength.

The students were respectful and had nothing to do with a law suit. One that was brought by a known nutlog.

I would also be carefuly quoting from Breitbart, Gateway Pundit and Jihad Watch among many others.

      So say you.

For your information, I certainly go to those sites, but most often I cite the links posted instead of quoting the blog masters themselves.

PS: The Quran does not require a prayer space, prayer mat, etc., for paying homage to Allah.

I have a former student who attends CUA. At the first opportunity I have, I will check with him to find out what's been going on there. He'll tell me what he has observed.

    8. SF,
I heard back from my former student, who says that he hasn't heard anything recently -- although there was quite a stir about the matter a few years back.

My former student shared this information about John Banzhaf.

      More information about Banzhaf

    9. Banzhaf is a professional pot-stirrer.

I hate to agree with Ducky, but yes, any institution with a large campus should be able to provide an ecumenical space where people of any denomination can come in and hold a worship service.

Banzhaf is way beyond that, and apparently, he has no Muslim student with him out there where the buses don't run.

    10. SF,
I do not agree with Duck on this matter of a large campus should be able to provide an ecumenical space where people of any denomination can come in and hold a worship service.

Religious schools should have the right to limit worship on their campuses any more than a church should have to create such a space within church facilities.

      Delete
    11. AOW: Spending a career in the military gives me a different perspective. I worshiped in a building called a chapel, not a church. Whoever worshiped there at the time put up their religious accoutrements, and then took them down when the service was over.

I agree with you that religious schools should not be forced to allow other religious services (where does it end?), but I don't see anything wrong with making reasonable accommodations, and 'reasonable' should be defined by the institution in question, not noisy activists.

The wrinkle here, is that Catholic Universities are in bed with government, and so have become public accommodations and subject to federal law and all that flows from that.

As Ronald Reagan said, "Get in bed with the federal government, and don't be surprised when you get more than a good night's sleep."

      Delete
    12. SF,
I understand your point. But churches accept federal monies, too, in that churches and donors thereto enjoy certain tax exemptions.

As a society, we have reached the point that ALL of us are somehow beholden to the federal government.

    13. I think you'll have to move in pretty mysterious ways to demonstrate that anything in this tempest in a teapot has forced Catholic University to change it religious nature.

    14. America is actually pretty good at that sort of thing and it's a strength.

It is? You seem so sure.

      How about explaining exactly how.

    15. SF...being a "pot stirrer" doesn't always mean the guy's totally wrong.
And it surely doesn't mean there haven't been lawsuits brought to Western establishments from Muslims making demands upon them.
      thanks

  9. Z... you make an interesting point... so let's take you at essentially what you've said, that willingness to vote for a person of color if they share your views proves a lack of racism.

Let me ask you a question regarding President Obama, because many conservatives insist they harbor no racial animus towards him and that indeed, their feelings and actions are rooted in their disapproval, or even disgust towards his policies.

If conservatives were to respond to President Obama in a way that suggested racial animus, or hostility, what would that look like?

    2. I'm not really sure how many times I can say again, and again, that it strikes me as a little nuts that any conservative who adores Ben Carson or Thomas Sowell, or whatever Black man they admire for his values, is racist because they might like THEM but not Obama :-)
I'm honestly not sure how you can even ask that question....because you must know it's so clear.

If I was responding to Pres Obama with racial hostility? I'm thinking anybody could answer that better than I could. What do you think it would look like, dave?

    3. To explain why conservatives have such vehement hate for a clearly centrist president is impossible without race being part of the mix.

All conservatives? No but many doth protest too much.

    4. Until the Obama administration came along, I had not blogged during a Democratic Party administration.

Race is not the issue for me. I have two biracial cousins in my own family. The younger is but a tike, and I "love on her" every chance that I get.

Others may also recall that I didn't give GWB a pass on quite a few matters.

    5. A more cogent question is what - in the vast majority of center right responses to President Obama - could possibly be construed as racism? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .Yeah. That's what I thought. Zippo.

As for "hate for a clearly centrist president" - well, we haven't had one for 6 years. And boy was HE vilified by the left. By the same logic, that would be because of his RACE (at least as 'part of the mix')? Uh-uh. Don't think so.

    6. I, too, have Black relations and friends I adore. WAIT!.. Does that make ME racist, AOW? Seems as odd as loving people like Ben Carson and being racist :-)

    7. Z,
I remember a time that forbade the acceptance of recognizing those of mixed ethnicity as members of one's family.

The other night, I went to hear Jim Vance speak. Almost immediately he made the point that race-based distrust has ebbed a great deal since 1969, when Mr. Vance first came to the D.C. area to work as a reporter, then an anchor, for our local NBC affiliate.

Of course, to hear certain people talk, we're still stuck in an era of egregious racial bias.

Yes, racial bias still exists, but not nearly to the extent that we used to see.

    8. Z, your reply is focused on the treatment of folks like Carson and Sowell... Have they, in your opinion, been unfairly targeted because of their race? If so, since conservatives believe, because I've yet to get an example from any, that Obama has not been subject to any racist treatment, could you give me a few examples where this has been true for them?
