Sinus Infection

(If you must have politics, please scroll down)

With a low grade fever and general misery.

If I'm not better by tomorrow, I'll go to the doctor.

Until I'm feeling better, blogging may be lighter than usual, and my blog rounds will be curtailed.

Meanwhile, we'll do the best we can.

  1. The price we pay for having a good time. "The Holidays" -- love them though we do -- tend always to be hazardous to our health.

More appropriate words form Miss Dickinson:

    For each ecstatic instant
    We must an anguish pay
    In keen and quivering ratio
    To the ecstasy.

    For each beloved hour
    Sharp pittances of years ––
    Bitter contested farthings ––
    And coffers heaped with tears.

Certainly an overstatement in your case –– we earnestly hope –– but generally applicable to so much of everyone's "life experience."

    GET WELL SOON!

  2. put a couple teaspoons of cinnamon in a steaming (large) bowl of water, put your face over it with a towel draped over your head. the steam will feel good and the cinnamon has anti bacterial and anti viral properties. Don't overdo the cinnamon, it can burn. Hope you feel better

  3. Do you have a neti pot? Those things really work! I would get three or four sinus infections a year before I started using my neti pot.

    Feel better, AOW.

  4. What is a neti pot? And why would you use one?
    Answers from James T C Li, M.D., Ph.D.

A neti pot is a container designed to rinse your nasal cavity. You might use a neti pot to treat nasal allergies, sinus problems or colds. In fact, many people believe that regular use of a neti pot is more effective for nasal allergy and sinus symptoms than are over-the-counter medications.

  5. Get a good rest and let everything else wait. Feel better soon! By the way, I can't post comments from my iPad -- they just disappear when I push "post." Consider switching to Disqus, just for me of course! :)

    1. Hi, and HAPPY NEW YEAR to you, sir!

FYI: I find that comments at DISQUS are less legible, much harder to construct if you use HTML, and disappear far more frequently than they do with good ol' Blogger.

  6. My sinuses are so swollen now that I cannot irrigate them.

    I'm a walking germ factory!

The only bright spot: the abscess in my right eye (Not the eye that had the retinal detachment!) has finally started to drain -- thanks to hot compresses.

I hope to get to the doctor today to get a nasal spray that will reduce the sinus swelling.

PS: Thank God for Puffs Tissues!

  7. Feel better soon. You are starting out the New Year sick, hopefully it will be uphill from here.

    1. I've never been this sick in my entire life!

I guess that I didn't pick up on the early signs of this sinus infection, so now there's misery to pay.
