More Serfdom Via ObamaCare

From the New York Times on August 12, 2013:
A Limit on Consumer Costs Is Delayed in Health Care Law

WASHINGTON — In another setback for President Obama’s health care initiative, the administration has delayed until 2015 a significant consumer protection in the law that limits how much people may have to spend on their own health care.

The limit on out-of-pocket costs, including deductibles and co-payments, was not supposed to exceed $6,350 for an individual and $12,700 for a family. But under a little-noticed ruling, federal officials have granted a one-year grace period to some insurers, allowing them to set higher limits, or no limit at all on some costs, in 2014.

[...]

The health law, signed more than three years ago by Mr. Obama, clearly established a single overall limit on out-of-pocket costs for each individual or family. But federal officials said that many insurers and employers needed more time to comply because they used separate companies to help administer major medical coverage and drug benefits, with separate limits on out-of-pocket costs....
Read the rest HERE.

A rude awakening is coming, that's for sure. But the time the awakening occurs, individuals and families will be far along the road of serfdom.

And the Obamamaniacs continue to sing his praises. Unbelievable!

Yeah right and trust me I saw a heard of Unicorns in my kitchen, last night drinking my best 75 year old scotch .

For Heavens sakes, when will these progressive idiots get over the Obama euphoria? When will they come down to reality? ,
If you're not interested in the truth about Obamacare, and what it’s all really about and how it’s going to effect you and your family, then I feel sorry for you, because you’re a dumb-ass. .
The current trend is 73% believe the country is moving in the wrong direction and Obama is the figure head for blame, deal with it..hell, you probably voted for it...enjoy the ride. Enjoy the Benghazi cover up enjoy the IRS scandal, enjoy fast and furious, and all of the other scandals, and those that are yet to come. Pick your poison! President Obama is the saddest excuse for a President I have ever witnessed!

  2. I believe the mandates have been postponed to 20`4 also. Anybody think these delays have anything to do with next year's mid-term elections?

  3. Again: 2,700 pages of legislation, 20,000 pages of regulations will NEVER work. Legislators should know this. B.O., doesn't know anything about this law except he's probably been assured that it will lead to ultimate, total government control of our, so called, health care. Say what you wish about Republicans but, as far as I know, not one supported this GATEWAY TO HELL-Law! Is it too late for "Open Season" on those who did?

  4. Yet, a president cannot change a law, including timelines, without congress taking action. They have not. So, don't these timeines as written, stay in place? If the president--who has not been granted power by the constitution to change a law at will is permitted to do so, what is stopping any American citizen from "changing" a law at will? Um, I think I'll push back the due date on my taxes and not incur a penalty because well, we let another citizen without that right get away with it.

  6. If the people who read this blog want to do something besides complain about Obama and a long line of traitorous acts by the members of both political parties, they can begin by reading Mark Levin’s book, The Liberty Amendments. The only way for Americans to take their country back from the communist movement, which has been going on now for over 100 years, is to work within their state legislatures, insisting that states reassert themselves as provided for in the Bill of Rights, and through this process, amend the constitution in such a way that will actually preserve Constitutional government.

If people do not wish to be this involved in saving America, they should stop reading blogs and offering angry comments because that alone does nothing for this country. Nothing.

      I agree.

Our so-called representatives on Capitol Hill are non-responsive. Remember those months leading up to ObamaCare? We who voiced concerns to our "public servants" in Congress were told to shut up and get on board -- never mind that Congress is exempt from ObamaCare.

      Next suggestion?

  8. Over at Infidel Bloggers Alliance, Epaminondas posted about the same topic as this blog post.

Note what Epaminondas said -- an excellent point:

See, here is the thing .. if I have NO INSURANCE and I get sick, I have no cap, and now if I have insurance I have no cap. But now it costs MONEY to to have no cap.

    1. I made the following comment to Epa's post:

A while back, when I had to make some decisions about health insurance, a friend that I trust said the following: "Always get a policy with a maximum out-of-pocket limit. If a catastrophic medical event strikes, that maximum is the only amount that can be used as a lien against your home."

So, I chose a policy with an affordable maximum-out-of-pocket limit for Mr. AOW. $5000.

Not long thereafter, the bad thing happened here -- Mr. AOW's stroke. Boy, was I glad that I had chosen a policy with a maximum out of pocket!

80/20 would have left us with a bill of nearly $40,000

  9. What I think this is about is simply Obama trying to anger individuals against the nasty insurance companies. Why anyone thinks that people coming in with preexisting conditions won't raise the rates is beyond me. If Allstate was required to fix everyone's car that had a preexisting damage of course our rates would skyrocket.

      No kidding!

So, why do people expect health-insurance companies to covr pre-existing conditions at no extra charge? Because the majority of Americans believe that health care is a "right" -- social justice and all that.

I do have a problem with the matter of lack of insurance for pre-existing conditions. Let me explain.

I've known several people who didn't bother getting any health insurance UNTIL, one day, they realized that they had cancer, diabetes, chest pains, etc. Then they jumped on board with no documented pre-existing condition. Two of these individuals proceeded to rack up nearly $600,000 of benefits EACH within a three-year period of paying low rates -- low rates because their pre-existing conditions were not documented. Surreal!

Yet, those of us who have ponied up health-insurance premiums FOR DECADES and, as a consequence of normal aging or untoward events beyond our control, have pre-existing conditions are taken to the cleaners when we have to buy our own insurance via loss of employment, job change, etc.

From the link you provided: supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood started to target Egypt's Christian minority, holding them partly responsible for his removal.

      Egypt is a mess.

Christians there certainly had a better time of it under Mubarak.

  11. We're being steadily reduced to SERFdom, so Obama can continue to enjoy the SURF at places like Martha's Vineyard and his 200,000 square foot Hideaway in Hawaii.

ALOHA OY! OY! OY! OY! OY!

This, of course, is what was bound to happen after we started to embrace "DIVERSITY," and the IVY LEAGUE became the OY VEY LEAGUE.

It astounds me that the American people are not enraged about Obama's vacations and his obvious sense of entitlement to all elite amenities on the backs of the taxpayers.

If I recall correctly, there was a lot of anger about all the time that GWB spent at his ranch in Texas when he was President. Yet, here we are in an economic depression, and the Obamas party like there's no tomorrow.

  15. I think it is terrible the way you talk about The Leader. After all he is trying to deal with his sequester and is doing a great job. Cancel Our House tours, cancel Blue Angles, Thunderbirds, shows.
This sequester crisis has made him cut back to only two vacations in two months and wifey can't take her 40 best friends overseas because the two vacations cost 120 million. He needs the funds to fly around the country convincing people obamacare is good for them all the while avoiding those phoney scandals.
    Wow, we should be proud.
