The American Economy

Is it any wonder that our economy is stalled?

Look at the drop in disposable income (hat tip to Frankenstein Government)?

Until there is disposable income that can be spent so as to drive the economy, America will remain in the doldrums.

Also consider THIS, which recently appeared in the Associated Press: "4 in 5 in US face near-poverty, no work."

Ignore the reality at your own peril!

Meanwhile, Obama's cheery words are, at best, delusional.

This is the reality set to music (and also includes commentary regarding the recent worldwide terror alert):

  1. Excellent choice of music, AOW! If that chart had excluded those in the upper 10% icome bracket, it would look much worse. America's future is on display in Detroit.

Good point! Glad that you make that point because considering that point provides are more accurate picture of just how bad our ailing economy is.

Damn, I wish that I'd thought of that-good one!

  3. I think that the chart pretty fairly represents the consequences of the increasingly "over-corporatization" of the capitalist regulatory system. The regulatory aquarium which governs our once laissez faire, but now entirely mercantilist, world economy only leaves room for domestic "whales." The existence of all other types of fish have been "ruled" out.

Welcome to Chicago. If you want to play, you've got to pay the regulators.

  4. There is nothing delusional about Obama’s words. He has embarked on a campaign to provide falsehood after falsehood to the American people. His is a disinformation campaign directed against the American people. He is governed by rules for community organizers: Keep the pressure on; never let up. Who can blame him? After all, the American people aren’t that smart. Obama is selling snake oil, and the American people are buying it.

    1. Mustang,
I agree with you that Obama isn't deluded; I should have phrased that sentence in the blog post in a different way.

Obama is ever calculating how to further his agenda with every breath he takes and every move he makes.

      Snake oil sells like hotcakes!

Yes and why is it so obvious to some of us? I really don't think that B.O. is the most deft con man in history; he, simpey, doesn't have to be! What will it take for "us" (taxpayers) to stop buying "snake oil" for his minions?

  6. To paraphrase Scripture: the wages of the Obama Recession is lower wages.

  7. It's a Good thing we have Al Qaeda on the run…

because I’d sure hate to see what it looks like when Al Qaeda was thriving and growing.

Tomorrow, Sunday August 4, American embassies across the Muslim-controlled Middle East will be shut down due to an Al Qaeda-linked threat of terrorism that the State Department is taking very seriously. They’ve also issued a world-wide travel alert to Americans abroad.

But Our Dear President said they were on the run... Duh!

It's another bunch of crap from the senior crap thrower kenyan boy.....making a pretense of doing something to be supportive of Americans, here and abroad after the cowardice and negligence demonstrated by this african pretender in Benghazi...............facts, they are doing everything that can possible be done to hide the facts and those that know what took place.. One thing that can not be hidden is the lack of any support for the Benghazi mission.

I think it was Peter Bergen who pointed out that AQ has been ramped up ever since the Benghazi debacle.

  8. Perfect choice of music for the article, AOW.

Those statistics are truly pathetic, and yet Obama is still praised by so many who voted for him. Hard to understand.

      People are deluded. Blinded.

      Visit Reading, PA.

      Steubenville, OH.

      Various other former industrial hubs.

      Our GDP sucks.

  9. The political process works hand in glove with kapital.

If any of you think Rand Paul and the Full Ayn Rand are the answer, you just haven't been paying attention.
Gonna be a hard rain and its your own damn fault for not understanding the present oligarchy. Unrestrained political parties move inevitably to oligarchy just as kapital moves inevitably to monopoly. But you still want to blather on like tools with Obama this and Obama that ... enjoy.

In the meantime, what do we do to take back the political process? Tough question and the answer isn't Ted Cruz.
    Austerity? Pitch till you win.

    1. Ducky: it is government intervention that creates monopolies, not natural free market/capital forces.

      Austerity? Hasn't been tried.

    1. I'm sure that FT doesn't care for the music at the end of the blog post.

A selection from Carmina Burana or Mozart's "Dies Irae" (Requiem) would also have been appropriate music commentaries.

Sorry Bubba, i wasn't there when the Reaganites bought into the Laffer curve and figured you could grow an economy without demand.
But pitch till you win, you freaking goober.

Reagan isn't the only POTUS to blame.

      I don't particularly blame Reagan.

But my point is that what's happening to the economy right now has been a long time in the making.

We're just beginning to see the harvest.

    1. Jon,
I'm not sure that it's desperation.

Maybe it's realization that all but those at the top of the pyramid will sink now that our economy is in a death spiral.

I'm not sure that there IS a way to stop that spiral!

    1. Part of the reason for the hoarding is lack of confidence in our ailing economy -- and in our so-called elected public servants.

To a certain extent, every kind of economy runs on confidence.

In a way, the hoarding might be good: these people can fund their own elder care. Just sayin'.

  17. After the GOP has done all it can to stall the economy and destroy the middle class by enacting a record number of filibusters to stop numerous jobs and infrastructure bills, you have the temerity to blame Obama? Lol! No wonder the GOP is going down the tubes.
