What Should We Call This?

(Two posts today. Please scroll down)

Negligence? Incompetence? Treason?

Please watch this short video (article HERE, dated October 5, 2012):

Also see THIS. Brief excerpt:
Weeks before the presidential election, President Barack Obama’s administration faces mounting opposition from within the ranks of U.S. intelligence agencies over what career officers say is a “cover up” of intelligence information about terrorism in North Africa.

...[F]alse information was either knowingly disseminated or was directed to be put out by senior policy officials for political reasons...

The next scheduled Presidential debates in which Obama and Romney will be held on October 16 and October 22. Both of these debates are supposed to address foreign policy, the second of these debates exclusively so.

  1. I think it is a stretch to connect denial of a DC-3 aircraft (first flown in 1935) to the death of Ambassador Stevens. A plane sitting on the tarmac wouldn't have saved him, or anyone else under those circumstances.

All I'm saying is, investigators should be asking the right questions.

  2. Regardless of the details, this happened on our feckless leader's watch, so he gets the blame.

Let's see if this particular event is given proper attention. I hope so but it's hard to think the liberals will allow that!

  4. Jack,

It's just a small part of the gathering storm of thick black smoke indicating there's a fire of imminent self-destruction this bombastically moronic, patently immoral, wickedly incompetent administration richly deserves to endure.

Funny how Jake tTapper, who used to appear regularly on C-Span and elsewhere as a typically snotty young liberal whippersnapper, appears to be undergoing a transformation. Hopefully part of trend in the enemedia? Maybe just a rat deserting a sinking ship?

    Time will tell.

  5. Jon,

If the Romney we saw last Wednesday is for real, he will surely override the moderating powers, as he did asinine, querulous old Jim Lehrer, and simply BUTT IT IN to the discussion and pursue it like a ferocious bulldog.

Its long past time candidates with BALLS put the enemedia in its place, and showed them once and for all that they are NOT in control of our destiny.

The time for polite, decorous, "diplomatic" adherence to protocols set up to defeat TRUTH is OVER. It's time to take off the gloves and start swinging.

I hope Romney will not only maintain testicular fortitude but also fast moving FISTS of FURY.

  6. I think the greater act of stupidity was that two weeks before the attacks, security forces were ordered out of Libya. The Colonel incharge of that security detail has been subpenaed to testify before Congress this week, if I am not mistaken.

  7. I agree with Jack (above). Never ask a question you don’t already know the answer to, and never pursue a line of questioning that will lead you to a red herring result. It does nothing more than divert attention or mislead people who aren't very keen on thinking to begin with. The aircraft issue is that kind of diversion. COF has the right line and that is what investigators should pursue.

  8. The DC-3 was only ONE aspect of security, and let's be blunt: it's a poor and ancient one at that. There were other aspects requested and denied. Marines held weapons that were unloaded. That in itself, in ANY country, is an abomination. The transmissions were flying quickly that unrest was up, yet these intelligence indicators were roundly ignored.

And all during this, if you recall, Mr Obama was continuing to insist on not personally attending his PDB, which is an event specifically crafted for sitting presidents in order to give them a feeling for the day's intelligence tenor.

Mr Obama is and was profoundly "out of touch" and tone deaf. He is a child sitting at the adult's table because one of the adults thought he "looked and spoke nicely."

  9. For a minute I thought I was on Name That Tune. There's a voice-over attack ad, attacking Romney, on that site that starts playing once the page loads.

I did wonder why ABC media would run that story, but the ad explained it.

The latest word I have on that Libyan screw-up was that when these decisions are made to deny security, they come from the top, probably based on political consideration but not always. This was Obama or a top staff member who allowed these deaths to happen. Ergo, "spontaneous demonstration" and "move trailer" lies to cover it up. If our people were deliberately left vulnerable, it was treason. If they were simply ignored, it was stupidity and incompetence.

Either way, the blood is on Obama's hands. He's the one in charge of this stuff.

  11. I'm glad the Spooks are speaking out. There are others too, also documents, not sure how Obama will overcome this. Romney needs to keep ripping him on it over and over.

  12. CBS News today:

Ex-U.S. security team leader in Libya: "We needed more, not less" security staff

  13. When I lived in Venezuela, our DC-3s were logistical workhorses... they brought in everything that the Embassy needed from American bases in Panama and Puerto Rico, from equipment to commissary supplies. If the Tripoli post needed weapons, etc, they were only a few hours flight away to bases in Europe and Egypt, and best of all... there was little to no "customs" enforcement from the host country.

  14. ...and a DC-3 could heve proved invaluable in evacuated personnel before or perhaps even during an attack.

  15. More information:

In a dispatch sent the day he was killed, Ambassador Christopher Stevens described how the militias keeping the peace in Benghazi threatened to quit over a political feud.

  16. The consulate was located in Western Fwayha, 12 miles from the airstrip. It does not appear likely consulate staff could safely evacuate to that location without armed security.

  17. That where puff comes in... it could have flown to the compound in less than a minute.

  18. btw - the great thing about a C-47 is... that it doesn't require an airstrip.

  19. I'd wait till it's all in. Probably simply a bad decision. Calling it treason is a big, big stretch.

By the way, AOW, in view of your fondness for field depth and sharp focus I used a very different group of settings on the ol' Rebel.
    Wasn't expecting much.
The settings required somewhat more "posed" shots but I was presently surprised.
There's one marker "Pool" which is one of the best I've taken in a while.

  20. How about we agree to call it "gross incompetence" for now and "progress" to treason as the facts reveal themselves? Call it a postulate, and not yet a proof.

  21. Funny that the intelligence community is speaking out. Not a real common occurrence. I have to wonder if maybe they are trying to undermine O?

  22. DC3,

Is this some kind of a joke? OK it was a "work horse" in it's day but this is 2012. Notwithstanding Ricky Nelson, it's not the aircraft that I would want to be on today. 1935 technology, Please!
On the other hand, if the powers-that-be would of had a clue, the DC3 would have been a lot better than nothing. But they didn't even get that right! B.O.'s Foreign Policy isn't just bad, it dosen't even exist!!!!

  23. IN MY VIEW:

Obama's embrace-the-Islamic-world foreign policy is a consummate failure.

Ambassador Stevens should not have been sacrificed on the altar of Obama's foreign policy. But he was! In the name of political expediency and in the name of denial.

  24. Yes, DC-3 or C-47.

It takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. That's why it's one of the greatest airplanes in the world, even TODAY.

The Douglas Dakota is without doubt one of the most famous and most successful designs of aircraft in history. It was originally known as the Douglas Sleeper Transport and has been known as DC-3 (civilian versions) C-47 Skytrain, AC-47 Gunship, C-53, R4D, C-117 and Dakota (in UK and Commonwealth service). An amazing 70 years after the design's first flight on 17th December 1935 the aircraft is still in service throughout the world. It is a design which has truly changed history.

It's like a Willy's that flies. Very "maintainable".

  25. @ JonBerg- Are you suggesting that the Libyan Mission in Tripoli didn't know what it was asking for, when it requisitioned a DC-3? Ever hear of "Air America"? Would you have scoffed if they had requested a Huey?

  26. "Never ask a question you don’t already know the answer to ..."

But, Sam, if we followed that advice all the time, how could we ever hope to learn anything we don't already know?

  27. Despite the Obama's best efforts to blame the video or sweep this under the rug claiming an investigation was under way (the FBI only got to Benghazi this week for what that is worth) they cannot escape the fact that there were MULTIPLE AND REPEATED requests from our diplomatic personnel in Libya and those requests were denied.

That is what Obama needs to be held accountable for. He also needs to answer why his Administration lied about this being the result of a video when they knew right away it was a terrorist attack.

  30. RWT,
Check out this video. Some of what is on the video:

OBAMA: "Here's what happened. You had a video that was released by somebody who lives here, sort of a shadowy character who is an extrememly offensive making fun of the Prophet Mohammed. This caused great offence in the Muslim world. Extremists and terrorists used this as an excuse to attack a variety of our embassies including the consulate in Libya."

The Obama administration is denying, denying, denying now. But the video is there for everyone to see. Can't run from THAT!
