Don't know New Hampshire's gun laws. But there needs to be a massive public groundswell in that state over the issue.
This man needs to be, first, FREED and his arrest completely expunged, THEN he needs to be publicly HERALDED for stopping a crime.
This sounds like the ignorant crap that occurs in my state, Fornicalia. If I were a supervisor on that call, as I am here, I would tell my officers to take the report, book the suspect and leave. If the DA wanted to file charges, it would be on HER.
It is legal to shoot an intruder dead in your home and in your car here in Missouri. We also have concealed carry license laws, but these are unnecessary withing your own home or vehicle. (Personally, my concealed carry permit is the 2nd and 4th Amendments and I take those rights deadly seriously)
True story. I once had a neighbor in Alexandria that found a rabid possum living in his crawl space. For several days he tried to get city animal control out to do capture the animal and they were unresponsive. Finally fed up, he shot it (with a legally registered gun) and told them to pick up the carcass. They then promptly showed up, with the cops, and served him with a summons for discharging the weapon inside city limits.
He has long since moved his family back to Colorado.

Mr. Cube was born and raised in New Hampshire. He can't believe what's happened either, but he blames it on Massholes moving there to avoid the taxes they voted for in Massachusetts.
The solution: Shoot, shovel and shut up. Not really - common sense and a sense of proportion needs to be force fed to the legislators of New Hampshire, along with a bunch of other states.
An update at the end of the article says that charges were dropped. But how ludicrous that he was charged in the first place! dmarks--join the NRA. They are not the only gun rights group out there, and they are not necessarily the best, but they are the loudest voice with the most pull in Washington. For $25 (or maybe its $35 now?) it's a no-brainer for freedom lovers, whether you're a gun owner or not.
The voters in NH put such laws in effect and its up to them to remove them. Says a lot about the mindset of many in New England---I would expect nothing less from that area although I realize many good conservative thinks live there. Maybe incidents such as this will wake up those in the middle and thing will change.

ReplyDeleteDidn't New Hampshire used to be the Live Free or Die state?
Warning shots can be a bummer!
ReplyDeleteAnyone who enters my house without authorization will be shot in one of several places

2. the kneecap
4. the ankle
5. the heart

PS: In my state it's legal to shoot intruders.
Ironically, if he had caught the crook inside his home and killed him, the police would have no issue with him.

If one fires a warning shot...is one in danger? If one were in peril, the shot would be more accurately placed...like in the body of the intruder.
ReplyDeleteLesson... if your going to shoot... make sure to hit something... else you're just showing off.
warning shots are not "defensive"...
ReplyDelete"Update: Charges against Mr. Flemming were dropped."
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable that he was charged in the first place, i hope the officers did that for a good reason, like making sure the story was straight.
Either way good to see he's been set free, with thanks i hope. He deserves it, he stopped a crook and saved the taxpayer a lot of money down the line.

That is pretty ridiculous. I guess he should have waited for the guy to half kill him?
