Advent Musical Interlude

(For politics, please scroll down)

For this Third Sunday of Advent 2019, please enjoy "O Come All Ye Faithful" as performed by Celtic Woman:

This information from YouTube provides important insights about the above interpretation:
...The dresses worn have the colors of the Threefold Flame, of Blue, Yellow and Pink, representing Power, Wisdom, and Love, as well as the color of the current Cycle for the Earth, which is Violet and represents Redemption. The Violinist (Máiréad Nesbitt) comes out in the Purity of White.

  1. It's so good to hear singing from LEGITIMATE voices –– a rare treat in any popular arena these days.

It's a very skillful, beautifully crafted arrangement, and a joy to hear, but I wish the production values had been less worldly, less sensual, less exploitative of feminine sex appeal and more genuinely reverent.

The taint of an old-fashionned Hollywood Movie Musical Extravaganza is too present here for me to be able to accept this delightful offering as completely honest and sincere.

And why was the obviously enthusiastic, very capable young conductor so badly, dressed? His shabby attire made aviolently unflattering contrast to the rest of the colorful, elegantly slick production. Was there a POINT to that? If so, what might it have been?

That said it sure beats the hell out of the excessive, pointedly irreverent, celebrations of Vulgarity, Depravity and Obscenity produced by the likes of Madonna, most of the Rappers, an "Pop Icons" of the past sixty years.

By THOSE abysmal standards The CELTIC WOMEN seem downrght CELESTIAL.
