"The Over-Promiser-In-Chief"

Some reading for tonight's State of the Union Address or, if you prefer, in lieu of listening to the speech.

Note the White House's promotion of the speech at the White House web site. Clearly, Obama is using the State of the Union Address as part of his campaign to get re-elected in 2012.

  1. All he does is campaign, he doesn't know how to govern.

  3. It's like a train wreck, you just can't turn away, and there will be some *drama* tonight.

ANY so-called Conservative GOP Senator or Congress Critter that crosses the aisle just placed a TARGET on their seat.

I don't want non-partisan BS in the Hallowed Halls, I want a damned DOG FIGHT, and I want the GOP to kick ass and take names, not make a date for drinks and dinner...

These clowns are acting like it's high school and they want to be sure and sit with the popular kids, well, my experience has been, the popular kids went on to be drunks, dopers and multi-divorced losers...

Conservative INTEGRITY! Maybe they ALL need to look that up. And ANY that cross the aisle tonight need to be damned sure to look it up, their constituents need to MAKE THEM look it up...

  4. Study the history of the country and the deliberations of Congress in the past. There has seldom if ever, been this notion of "bipartisanship" and "civility." There was always a two party system for a reason: to provide an opposition viewpoint. The Founders recognized that one-party rule led to dictatorship. Two views to a subject kept balance and a healthy Republic. "Civility" or "bipartisanship" has been defined the past 30 years to mean that you acquiesce to the liberal Democrat view.

I don't want physical altercations in Congress like Rep. Preston Brooks beating Rep. Charles Sumner with a cane. I don't members of Congress deliberately lying about the opposition. But I do want heated debate, passionate verbal confrontation and extensive dissection of every proposal that is floated on the floor of the Senate or House. If the process slows down the number of bills introduced by 25%, 50% or more GREAT. Passing 3,000 page bills in 72 hours is disingenuous, disrespectful to the electorate and against the principals and traditions of this country.

  9. I'm about to watch... GAG.

Wonder how much hooting and cheering he'll get during his campaign... uh, I mean SOTU speech?

  10. 80 times is what someone counted on cheering.

bleh, it was one big political rally/campain. sounded nice, but honestly, it was directed at the average citizine instead of at congress. and is SOTU suppose to be for congress, or did i miss something?

and seriously, GOP's responce make BO seem ridiculas. hmm, wonder why...

my mom refuses to watch mr. liar, but i have a govermnet assignment so i'll be there...

What kind of teacher gave an assignment like that? **wink** **wink**

We'll discuss the speech and the GOP response during our next class session. Don't forget to bring in an article or your commentary with summary!

I admit that I did like that portion stating that teachers should be respected. **smile**

it was directed at the average citizine instead of at congress

To a great extent. BHO is trying to connect with the people in time for the 2012 election.

  13. Joe Biden grinned like a sycophant.

Boehner was more interesting to watch.

  14. Jackie,
The camera didn't pay much attention to Nancy Pelosi last night.

This is petty....I did notice that both Pelosi and Hillary didn't look their best --whatever "best" means.

  15. After the speech was over, I heard one commentator say the BHO's speech last night was "weak."

I did notice that BHO stumbled a few times when he was speaking. I don't recall any such stumbles last year. What's up with THAT?

    ReplyDelete
  16. BHO did lightly ridicule the TSA's pat downs in the speech last night. Appeal to the people?

  17. The AP's fact check of last night's speech: "Obama and his imbalanced ledger."

  18. From the speech:

The bipartisan Fiscal Commission I created last year made this crystal clear. I don’t agree with all their proposals, but they made important progress. And their conclusion is that the only way to tackle our deficit is to cut excessive spending wherever we find it – in domestic spending, defense spending, health care spending, and spending through tax breaks and loopholes.

The mortgage-interest deduction is under discussion. I've noticed of late that America's deduction for mortgage interest is being criticized as other nations don't allow such a deduction.

  19. "The mortgage-interest deduction is under discussion. I've noticed of late that America's deduction for mortgage interest is being criticized as other nations don't allow such a deduction."

And of course, we must take our cue from other nations now and emulate them instead of the other way around. After all, that is only just and fair in the world of the liberal mindset.

  20. Greetings America

We of the US Government in order to form a class of slaves have decrred that every man, woman, and child shall have a house backed by government loans which will be sold as derivitives in a risky speculation market.

After we get you into these homes that you can not afford then we will remove the interest deduction.

Also our new programs will make it impossible for your employer will be unable to provide health care so you will coming to us for your health care needs.

So you see you belong to the government, we will educate you on how to think, choose which industries are available for you to work at, handle your pension, and decide when you die by rationing your health care.

We do this to promote the general welfare.

Try not to think of it as slavery but as freedom.

I almost forgot we are making organ donation an opt out program because you dont read anything and then we can decide when we need your organs...
