Fast & Furious And The Paris Jihad Attacks

(with a hat tip to Infidel Bloggers Alliance)

A real jaw-dropper. But should we really be surprised? Probably not.

Law Enforcement Sources: Gun Used in Paris Terrorist Attacks Came from Phoenix

One of the guns used in the November 13, 2015 Paris terrorist attacks came from Phoenix, Arizona where the Obama administration allowed criminals to buy thousands of weapons illegally in a deadly and futile “gun-walking” operation known as “Fast and Furious.”

Deluded

June 28, 2016 jihad suicide bombings at Istanbul Atatürk Airport

Let's see, within the last year, we've seen terror attacks in Florida, Turkey, California, France, and Belgium — just to mention a few of the sites of terror attacks.

Yet, John Kerry apparently believes that ISIS is losing — not that those who killed or maimed perceive that ISIS is on the run.
...Speaking Tuesday evening at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Secretary of State Kerry said the fact that ISIS is targeting airports is a sign of weakness by the terror group, which he referred to by the name Daesh.

"It has been more than one year since Daesh has actually launched a full scale military offensive, and that's because our coalition is moving relentlessly on every front," Kerry said.

"Now, yes, you can bomb an airport, you can blow yourself up. That's the tragedy," he continued. "Daesh and others like it know that we have to get it right 24/7/365. They have to get it right for ten minutes or one hour, so it's a very different scale."

Kerry continued, "And if you're desperate and if you know you are losing, and you know you want to give up your life, then obviously you can do some harm."...
Read the rest and watch the video HERE.

Kerry said something similar after the Brussels attacks last March.

Ataturk International Airport has one of the best security strategies in the world. And yet....

How does security at American airports compare with the that of Ataturk International Airport?

Bill Maher On Islam And Islamophobia

I am not fan of Bill Maher. And I never watch Real Time, which airs on HBO, a cable channel to which I do not subscribe.

That said, Maher appears to be one of the few liberals who "gets it" about Islam (The first video below is quite short, so if you don't have time to watch both videos, please watch the first one):

Why is it that Bill Maher is one of the few liberal celebrities to recognize and name the Islamic threat?

Brexit

Brexit is being hailed by some as Great Britain's Independence Day. Accurate?

And now what — on the other side of The Pond and on this side of The Pond?

Wow! What A Surprise!

Yes, I'm still on a blog break.  Explanation HERE.

But I just have to post a photo of what I found on my front porch this morning:

And a vase was enclosed, too. Good thing! I'm not well enough to go digging for a flower vase.

Two former students, sisters of Asian Indian descent, remembered their teacher of decades ago! The enclosed note read as follows: "Thinking of you and hoping a little sunshine and cheer will help you get well soon."

I've now arranged the flowers so that the lavender roses are in the front. Any shade of purple rules!

Blog Break (Updated)

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, I have been diagnosed with hydronephrosis of the left kidney. Stage 3, but the kidney is functioning. The obstruction is partial and the cause is unknown (side effect of last fall's chickenpox vaccinations, congenital condition, other damage to the ureter).

How To Create More Trump Supporters

One of the many protesting Donald Trump as the GOP 2016 candidate for POTUS:

From this related reading:
I assume the sign carrier is actually from the Toltecs since at least we can say we’re not sure who THEY conquered around 800 AD to sit on that land. Or maybe she’s an Aztec, who drove out, killed, enslaved, others there? Or Mayan who were busy with human sacrifice while doing all the rest as well? No, she’s Spanish in origin? Okay so the sign should say Make Spain Andalusia Again?

44th Wedding Anniversary

(For politics, please scroll down)

According to this web page, as of today at 3:20 P.M., Mr. AOW and I have been married for 16,060 days or 385,440 hours or 23,126,400 minutes which is over 1,387 million seconds...have by now shared about 35,000 meals together which equates to approximately 2 years, 4 months of continuous eating!

We are skipping an anniversary dinner tonight. I'm not feeling well enough to go out right now.  Last night, however, a former student brought us dinner, so we have celebrated after a fashion.

Why Aren't We Hearing More About This? (Video added)

Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil

Z's post today reminded me of this February 5, 2016 article, which I've cited numerous times in comments but possibly not in the body of a blog post: DHS ordered me to scrub records of Muslims with terror ties.

DHS whistle blower Philip Haney:

In a national address on June 14, 2016, Barack Hussein Obama evinced more ire directed at Donald Trump than toward the murderous jihadists who slaughtered 49 people and wounded many others in Orlando's Pulse Nightclub on June 12, 2016.

Meanwhile: ISIS propaganda video exploits Orlando nightclub murders and calls for more attacks on US.

Down For The Count (Updated)

I'm having some health problems and am in a great deal of pain (lower left quadrant of the abdomen).  The pain (renal colic) has become severe enough that I'm missing the last day of classes of this school term.

I'm now in pursuit of a definitive diagnosis and treatment.  And relief!

A CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis has detected an abnormality of the left ureter.  Today I'll be spending the day in the urologist's office and in various labs. Part of the time, I anticipate having access to post any comments trapped in moderation.

Back whenever.

Update (June 10, 2016)

I have been diagnosed with hydronephrosis of the left kidney. Stage 3.

Nuclear imaging on Monday, June 13 to evaluate the output of each kidney. Cystoscopy and ureteroscopy on Wednesday, June 22 — if not sooner.

UPDATED ABBOTT AND COSTELLO

FreeThinke's comment to this thread — after the release of the horrible job numbers for May 2016:
ABBOTT and COSTELLO'S BRILLIANT EXPLANATION of a CRUCIAL ISSUE

COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America.

ABBOTT: Good Subject. Terrible Times. It’s 5.6%.

COSTELLO: That many people are out of work?

ABBOTT: No, that’s 23%.

COSTELLO: You just said 5.6%.

ABBOTT: 5.6% Unemployed.

COSTELLO: Right 5.6% out of work.

ABBOTT: No, that’s 23%.

COSTELLO: Okay, so it’s 23% unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, that’s 5.6%.

COSTELLO: WAIT A MINUTE. Is it 5.6% or 23%?

ABBOTT: 5.6% are unemployed. 23% are out of work.

COSTELLO: If you are out of work you are unemployed.

ABBOTT: No, Obama said you can’t count the “Out of Work” as the unemployed. You have to look for work to be unemployed.

COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!!!

ABBOTT: No, you miss his point.

COSTELLO: What point?

ABBOTT: Someone who doesn’t look for work can’t be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn’t be fair.

COSTELLO: To whom?

ABBOTT: The unemployed.

COSTELLO: But ALL of them are out of work.

ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work. Those who are out of work gave up looking and if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed.

COSTELLO: So if you’re off the unemployment roles that would count as less unemployment?

ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely!

COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don’t look for work?

ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That’s how it gets to 5.6%. Otherwise it would be 23%.

COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means there are two ways to bring down the unemployment number?

ABBOTT: Two ways is correct.

COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job?

ABBOTT: Correct.

COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job?

ABBOTT: Bingo.

COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to have people stop looking for work.

ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like a Democrat.

COSTELLO: I don’t even know what the hell I just said!

ABBOTT: Now you’re thinking like Hillary!
As of Friday, June 3, 2016, 94,044,000 Americans are neither employed nor seeking employment — according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. What are all of these individuals doing with their "free time"?

ADDENDUM

As Silverfiddle commented below:
For those who mistakenly try to pin the labor participation rate on baby boomers retiring, see the chart about half way down "Labor Force Participation Rate: 25-54 Years."

Hillary will give us more of the same.

Transparency?

When it came to the Iran agreement, not so much.

Eight minutes expunged from State Department Spokesperson Jen Psak 's response to Fox News reporter James Rosen's question.

No further investigation will be pursued.

From US State Dept edited press briefing video of Iran talks (dated June 1, 2016):
Washington (AFP) - The US State Department edited footage of a press briefing to remove a response to a question about secret back-channel talks with Iran, its spokesman admitted Wednesday.

Spokesman John Kirby asked department lawyers to investigate after Fox News correspondent James Rosen noticed that video of a question he posed in December 2013 was not in the public archive.

On Wednesday, Kirby announced that the cut -- previously described by officials as a "glitch" -- had indeed been deliberately carried out, but said it was not known who had ordered the edit.

[...]

"To my surprise the Bureau of Public affairs did not have in place any rules governing this type of action," he added, promising that henceforth briefings will be properly archived in full.
