John Kasich's "Culinary Controversy"

This is news? And in the political section, too.

Are you kidding me?

From ABC News (dated March 30, 2016):
Republican presidential hopeful John Kasich bit into culinary controversy this week when he turned down a Wisconsin dessert and used a fork to eat pizza in New York.
The 24/7 news cycle will be the death of us all.

Easter 1956

According to the person who posted the photo below at Facebook, this is what the New York City skyline looked like at Easter that year:

My Redeemer Lives

For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.

Solitude

Do you ever feel this way?

 I know that I do!

Too much gregariousness, particularly political discussion combined with fretting and a sense of futility, leads to enervation.

Why Are We Having Primaries At All?

How The GOP Establishment Leaders View The Primary Results

Thus far, Karl Rove's plans to put a RINO of his choosing behind the desk of the Oval Office have been derailed:

Between a Rock and the White House (image credit)

As of this posting, Donald Trump has won a majority of delegates in eight states and is the only candidate so far to have met the parameters of Rule 40. See What Is a Brokered Convention? GOP Rules Favor Trump.

For months, the leadership of the GOP said time and again that Trump would never get this far. Now the Party's leadership is coming to a sort of realization of what's happened to their power as leaders of the GOP — albeit not a full realization.

The Trump-Rally Disturbances

Just who is Thomas Dimassimo, the man who rushed the stage at the stage at the Kansas City Trump rally on Saturday, thereby causing Donald Trump to cancel the rally? Please watch this video providing some details not being covered by the media:

Caveat: there are reports of at least one hoax video about Thomas Dimassimo. Over at Infidel Bloggers Alliance, Pastorius linked to these observations about the above video:
Report That Man Who Rushed Trump Was ISIS Sympathizer Appears To Be Untrue

...[Nevertheless, Dimassimo's] connection to Black Lives Matter and leftists are very clear from his archived timeline, as well as his desecrating the flag videos. Moreover, Dimassimo seemed to have more on his mind than just ‘disturbing the peace’, the charge he earned, along with ‘inciting a panic’.

His tweets indicate he planned an attack on Trump.
Meanwhile, Progressive public advocacy group MoveOn.Org has put Donald Trump and those attending his rallies on notice (Click directly on the image to enlarge it):

Defeating Trump?

The Trump Train

This essay by Helen Delich Bentley, Republican member of the House of Representatives from 1985 to 1995, asserts that blocking Trump from being the nominee would be unfair.

Excerpt:
..Trump is inspiring tens of millions of Americans of all ages, races, religions and ideologies. He is inspiring them with novel ideas such as requiring that immigrants and visitors come into this country legally with proper documentation and making sure that we can properly vet everyone who wants to come to this country. He is inspiring them with novel ideas such as not rewarding corporations for taking jobs out of the country to parts of the world that have no minimum wage, environmental or child labor laws so that they can turn around and sell cheap goods to the Americans whose jobs they exported. He is inspiring them with novel ideas such as not expanding benefits to illegal immigrants while veterans — American heroes — are dying because we cannot treat them quickly enough.

If the Republican establishment does not like Trump’s ideas, it should try to beat him fair and square, by capturing the hearts and imaginations of the voters, as Trump has done over the past six months. If it can beat him fair and square, with a majority of votes and a majority of delegates, then the party — including those of us who support Trump — will come together behind the eventual nominee. But if the nomination is stolen from Trump through shadowy billionaire super-PAC money and “brokered convention” chicanery, I sadly predict that the party that I love and have helped to build for more than half a century will suffer a massive schism that may send it the way of the Whigs....

There is the very real possibility that Trump cannot be stopped from traveling further along the road to the nomination. From This essay, "The 25-Year Tide That Gave Us Trump,":
Trump’s popularity is a direct result of a tsunami of economic and cultural globalism that has flooded the shores of America over the last 25 years. The overwhelming pace of this change has upended both the country and the relationship that working-class voters have with both political parties, but especially the GOP....
Important factors according to that essay: economic globalism, cultural globalism (including concerns about Islamic terrorism), the Great Recession with the 2008 Wall Street bailout. In sum:
They [the middle class] want an outsider — someone strong enough to take on the system, someone who will not fix it or reform it but break it. Someone who will drop an anvil on the system’s head the way one was dropped on theirs [the heads of the middle class].
Read the entire essay HERE.

Of note: Marco Rubio, perceived as a GOP-establishment candidate, didn't pick up a single delegate yesterday.

Neoconservatism (the tenets of the establishment GOP and often referred to as "modern conservatism") is struggling to survive. Should it survive?  And does neoconservativism really protect American interests?

Prosecutorial Immunity

What Is The GOP's Agenda?

A lot of Trump supporters are thinking along these lines:

Over at Infidel Bloggers Alliance, Pastorius opined as follows to a blog post entitled Neocons declare war on Trump:
I think this has to do with

1) immigration - keeping student loan/college economy scams going by putting non-citizens through college on government money

2) H1B visas - trading out American workers for cheaper labor - see immigration above

3) behind-the-scenes agreements with the Saudis and the UAE on allowing massive Muslim immigration - whether you believe this or not, you can not deny there is massive muslim immigration going on - and for no good reason

4) black budgets hidden in "Green Economy" scams, LGBT scams, Social Justice scams - Black Budgets equals slush funds and kickbacks for various government workers and NGO's/foundations

-In other words, I believe these guys - our leaders - have scams stacked upon scams going behind the scenes and they are convinced that Trump is going to expose every last one of them.
And there's another GOP debate tonight.

Will there be any discussion of policy, or will the entire debate consist of attacking Donald Trump?

I don't know about you, but I'm going to have to take some Pepto Bismol before watching tonight's debate.

Now What?

As the results roll in from the Super Tuesday primaries, what do you think is next in this ugly "battle for the soul of the GOP"?

This?  Mitch McConnell says the GOP has plans to throw the election to Hillary "to stop Donald Trump".

It's also Super Tuesday for the Democratic Party.

Not just a bumpy night, but rather a bumpy ride all the way till November 8, 2016.
