Web Firms Ordered To Turn Over User Account Passwords

From CNET:
The U.S. government has demanded that major Internet companies divulge users' stored passwords, according to two industry sources familiar with these orders, which represent an escalation in surveillance techniques that has not previously been disclosed.
If the government is able to determine a person's password, which is typically stored in encrypted form, the credential could be used to log in to an account to peruse confidential correspondence or even impersonate the user. Obtaining it also would aid in deciphering encrypted devices in situations where passwords are reused....

Evaluating Motown

by Sam Huntington

Mayor Dave Bing appeared on camera earlier this week to proclaim that while it’s true Detroit has problems his isn’t the only city in America on the verge of bankruptcy. While I’m not quite sure how that helps, or in any way mitigates what happened in Detroit, its probably true. I’m very sure that Chicago is near to disaster, and Baltimore, and any number of other cities controlled by unions and run (into the ground) by democratic administrations.

Obama Lectures America On Race Relations

Obama's speech last Friday contained at least one particularly ironic statement (hat tip to Capitol Commentary):

As Capitol Commentary points out, Obama himself is half white. Furthermore:
...[T]he fact that while Obama was trying to ingratiate himself into the black community by being a “community organizer” and sitting in Rev. Wright’s anti-white church should automatically disqualify him from ever speaking on race....
Obama himself needs to look in the mirror and assess his own racism before telling the rest in America to do the same — elevators and car door locks, notwithstanding.

America Today

Kid posted the following comment at GeeeeeZ! on June 28, 2013. In my view, Kid's comment is an accurate summary of the sad plight of America today:

[P]oliticians spend the vast majority of their time stealing money for themselves, friends, and masters.

On occasion, especially around election time the crack the door open to 'speak to the public, and say stuff they feel appeals to the people who vote for them.

Any input from polls, campaign strategists (marketing people) etc all boil into one pot labeled demographic marketing results.

A consensus is reached describing what position they must verbally (not voting) take on each popular/in the news issue. Marketing tells them to support or not the gay community, abortion pro-choice or life or whatever, and if the results weigh heavily in one direction then they take a hard verbal stance one way or the other. Has no bearing on how they'll actually vote later on.

If the marketing results are unclear, then they simply take all sides of the issue. ie john fing kerry in 2004 "I will never allow others to make America's decisions for them but We must have a global test". Diametrically opposed statements in the same sentence. They do it all the time.

They are public opinion whores at election time and vote as needed once they are voted in. If any fur flies as a result of one of their votes, they simply give some lame ass excuse like "I had to vote to allow your 1st born to be killed so I could pull in the democrats later to vote to allow you to decide what underwear to wear tomorrow."

It is 101% bullsh*t. Sorry Z, but it's so insulting it's indescribable.

The only thing I don't understand is how they can keep from splitting their sides when giving interviews to 'the media'.

Unreal. Picture politicians sitting in a van near a grade school with writing on the side that says Free Candy and Puppies.

Why anyone would give one of them the time of day is now beyond me, let alone send them money. Good God.

My thoughts about the above:

Charles Lindbergh — Warts And All

(If you must have politics, please scroll down)

Writer of first-person historical fiction Melanie Benjamin, the author of Alice I Have Been and The Autobiography of Mrs. Tom Thumb, crafts well researched and engaging books. Indeed, after just a few pages into any of her books, the reader begins to do some research on one's own to discover how much of the content of Ms. Benjamin's books is fiction and how much actual fact. The Aviator's Wife is no exception!  Read about the book HERE at the author's web site and about the possible extent of writer's license HERE at BlogCritics.

The Aviator's Wife is written from the point of view of Anne Morrow Lindbergh, and the reader discovers that Charles A. Lindbergh, nicknamed Lucky Lindy and The Lone Eagle, was a cold fish of a man even before the 1932 kidnapping and murder of 20-month-old Charles A. Lindbergh, Jr.  Lucky Lindy was confident in his ability to bring his son back home safe and sound, and he regarded the death of his first child as one of his few failures.  The reader will likely conclude that the man had many failures but could not recognize those failures for what they were.

Zimmerman Found Not Guilty

An Under-The-Radar SCOTUS Decision

The recent SCOTUS decisions related to the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and DOMA have received a great deal of attention in the media and in the blogosphere. Agenda-driven political footballs always trump other matters.

As one who lost the opportunity to sell a real estate property in 2005 because of the local government's Draconian environmental policies related to Agenda 21, I found THIS SCOTUS DECISION of particular interest:

Obama and the Middle East

by Sam Huntington

I love how easy it is to drive the progressive/communist left nuts. All one needs to do is to say that Obama is a Moslem, a member of the Moslem Brotherhood, a lackey for Islamic extremism, or the least competent president in our entire history, and the progressives literally pee their pants. It makes one wonder how they would react if any of these statements weren’t true …

Syrians behead Catholic Priest

Posted by Sam Huntington

According to CNSNews, jihadist rebels in Syria have beheaded a Catholic priest. Last week, the Vatican said that jihadists attacked a monastery in northern Syria on Sunday, 23 June 2013, claiming that rebels shot and killed Father Francois Murad while he attempted to defend nuns and others sheltered in the monastery.

EDL Leaders Arrested

First, English Defence League leaders Tommy Robinson and Kevin Carroll were assaulted during a charity walk to Woolrich, where Drummer Lee Rigby was slaughtered on May 22, 2013. Then Robinson and Carroll were arrested.

Regardless of your opinion of the English Defence League, please note that the two men were arrested while participating in a public charity walk.

The video posted at YouTube on June 29, 2013 (hat tip to Infidel Bloggers Alliance):

Note this portion of the exchange:
Tommy Robinson to female police officer: "How have we obstructed you?"

Female police officer: "I'm sorry, but I can't explain"
