Solyndra's Toxic Waste

Taxpayers are on the hook for even more of the costs of the failed company that Obama once touted as a model of green energy (hat tip to Reliapundit of THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS for the video below):

Black-On-White Crime

Do you remember this 2007 case, the unspeakably brutal murders of Channon Christian and Chris Newsom?

Perhaps you never heard of the case. According to the Daily Mail in 2009:
...[E]ven though the killings happened in January, 2007, they have attracted very little national and international coverage.

That’s because they do not fit into the conventional contours of an attack in America’s Deep South, where a shameful history of racial intolerance has meant assaults by whites on blacks have historically been regarded in the context of race.

In this case, the races were reversed: the victims were white and the four men and one woman charged in connection with the murders are black.

[...]

University of Tennessee law professor Glenn Reynolds said the American media has a ‘template’ for covering white-on-black crime but not the reverse.

‘I think it would have gotten a lot of national play faster if it had been a black couple kidnapped and killed by five white people,’ he told the local paper in Knoxville....
The video below the fold was released in 2009 and provides many of the details of the case:

Michelle Obama's Fantasy

In an attempt to be chummy at the "Take Your Child To Work Day" event at the White House (or perhaps in yet another manifestation of the woman's constant state of discontent), we have the following from the First Lady on April 26, 2012:

Diplomatic Incompetence

By Sam Huntington

Let us consider for a moment the most appropriate course of action: should the United States deny Egypt $1.5 billion in US taxpayer funds and possibly discourage Moslems from murdering Coptic Christians and other non-Moslems at will, or should the Obama administration grant the Moslem Brotherhood a human rights waiver in order to preserve the “long-standing relationship between Egypt and the United States,” and reward Egyptian Moslems for their murderous behavior?

Ted Nugent's Rants

Recently, entertainer and NRA Board Member Ted Nugent shot off his mouth at the 2012 NRA Convention after previously endorsing Mitt Romney for the 2012 National Election. The Secret Service has determined that Nugent's words presented no actual threat to the life of the President.

Ted Nugent's rants are nothing new. For example, according to Rolling Stone in 2007:
Renegade right-winger Ted Nugent recently went on a vicious onstage rant in which he threatened the lives of Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Decked out in full-on camouflage hunting gear, Nugent wielded two machine guns while raging...
Read more about Nugent's political activism HERE. Apparently, he has considered running for public office although he has never done so.

With thanks to Mustang for the video below:

Naming Dogs

By Sam Huntington

I have always found the process of naming pets interesting. I obviously don’t know what the thinking was eons ago when Americans began naming their dogs after European royalty, but I suspect it may have been intentionally insulting. Americans have long rejected any notion they are inferior to other mortals —and while it is true our ancestors once knelt on bended knee, I suspect doing so was merely preferable to spending a few years in some dank dungeon dining on Bat guano.

The Haters

In his very own no-nonsense style, Fred Reed provided his perspective about the race baiters of our country: men and women who do not hesitate to accuse white Americans of the worst forms of racism, but who remain eerily silent when blacks are the perpetrators against other black citizens.
Mr. Reed is a white man, so we might assume he is a white supremacist, or possibly doesn’t know what he’s talking about. On the other hand, Mr. Reed isn’t the only fellow who is growing tired of the racist nonsense promulgated by, well —black racists. If you haven’t already viewed the short video at Geeez, now would be a good opportunity; you can see it here.
We know who the racists are. They include professional hate-mongers who fall over themselves getting to the scene of a white on black incident, wrestle one-another to the ground fighting over who gets to the microphone first. We’re talking serious money here … these are men who stand to increase their net worth by a factor of ten. Isn’t that what the Rainbow Coalition and Trinity Church is all about —making money and enslaving blacks to anger, the myth of white oppression, and obligating poor people to the good graces of socialist programs?
It is time we sent a clear signal to the race baiters: America doesn’t mind it if you express an opinion —no matter how distorted it is. Just let’s stop pretending that it has anything to do with truth, justice, or the American way. Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton, Rev. Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright, Rev. Louis Farrakhan, Lawyer Eric Holder, and Professor Barack Obama share the same agenda: racial or ethnic division.
This is not a new strategy, nor even a very bright idea —but it is intended to return our country to a time when skin color divided our country. The race baiters, fear mongers, and communists of color intend to retard our country’s growth because it puts large sums of money into their collective pockets. The president’s silence, and that of his attorney general, encourages thugs who call themselves black panthers to strike out against innocent citizens in the streets. This is not good leadership, and it is not behavior we associate with good men who care about their country.

My New Purse

(If you must have politics, please scroll down)

I rarely buy anything for myself. For one thing, I hate to shop! But when I got out my summer purse this year, I noticed that it was frayed and faded.

A few weeks ago, I decided to "commission" Woodersterman's wife to make a purse to my specifications. Click directly on the image above to enlarge it.

Go HERE, "Tails of a Purse for a Friend," to see some of the steps in the creation of the purse I requested.

Eliminate Learning Facts?

(With thanks to Mark Alexander, who emailed me the link to the recent Telegraph article cited below)

Get ready for the next fad in failed education curricula and teaching methods.

It has now been seriously proposed that students do not need to learn facts because facts can be accessed from students' Smartphones.

Book Review: Arsenal

Tammy Swofford’s suspense novel Arsenal, the title referring to strategic thought rather than to the military battlefield or acts of militant jihad, lives up to its genre label. The plot, well delineated and plausible, deals with the search for an Islamic treasure, namely, a pouch containing the hair of Muhammad the Prophet. Early on in the novel, the voice of a minor character describes the mission of the Muslim Brotherhood in the West, deemed decadent by the devout, and lays the foundation for the suspense plot that rushes to fulfillment in the second portion of Arsenal:
“'Just as we are to recite the Qur’an in a measured tone, we must also move in a measured and quiet manner in the West. We do not move as a lion, but we move as a panther'” (19).
Along the way, Arsenal, points out the dangers of geopolitical Islam and the West’s gullibility thereto, particularly the lack of Western understanding of the 1998-2007 wordcraft sword of Islam as expressed by the thoughts of the character Ahmad as-Sirjani:
“Universal Values. Two simple words….The words would sound secular, adaptable to the Western ear. But the cryptograph would be Qur’anic….It was time for a paradigm shift” (103).
Genre and political aspects aside, what makes this novel an outstanding and readable piece of writing is threefold.

My Redeemer Lives!

And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.

Jesus Lay In The Tomb

(If you must have politics, keep scrolling)

The final chorus of The St. Matthew Passion by J.S. Bach (with thanks to commenter FreeThinke):

Translation:
We sit down in tears
And call to thee in the tomb:
Rest softly, softly rest!
Rest, ye exhausted limbs!
Your grave and tombstone
Shall for the unquiet conscience
Be a comfortable pillow
And the soul’s resting place.
In utmost bliss, dear Lord, rest there thine eyes, and sleep.

Guest Post From Mustang Sends

My dear friend Mustang, one of the most politically astute people I know, has graciously sent me the guest post below. Worth your time:

Politicians are no solution to the problem: they are the problem.

When Jefferson wrote, “We hold these truths to be self-evident,” he was writing at a different time, in a pre-communist Era. Who could have imagined back then that any reasonably intelligent person could argue in favor of taxing productivity as a means of supporting the obsessive/compulsive spending habits of politicians who care more about themselves than they do about America?

Just In Time For Passover

Moses was a Muslim and led the Muslims out of Egypt! Just as a helicopter rescued the maroons in the novel Treasure Island, I suppose.

Did Obama Threaten The Supreme Court? (With Addenda)

(Two posts today. Please scroll down for the other post)

I gasped yesterday when I heard Obama shoot off his mouth about the pending Supreme Court decision on ObamaCare. From the Guardian:

In The Streets Of Luton

Luton, a large town in Bedfordshire, England, is located 30 miles north of London. Because of several waves of immigration in the 20th Century, the town is ethnically and religiously diverse. The latest statistics indicate that Muslims comprise about 15%.
