Blogoversay Number 6

Note to readers: Due to my work and caregiving schedules, I will be posting less frequently than usual.

I can't believe that I've been blogging for six whole years.

I started HERE as a way to pass the time while recovering from a car accident, caught the blogging bug, and migrated to HERE.

Several times, I considered quitting, but so far I haven't thrown in the towel.

With thanks to Stogie of Saberpoint for the graphic below:

Stogie's post is HERE.

Get ready for America's economy to hit the skids and squeeze us all until our belly buttons rub against our backbones (gasoline prices now higher as the excerpt below is dated April 21, 2011):

My Redeemer Lives!

For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.

He Died For Me

He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)

Blogging Bloom Is Off The Rose — For Now

I'm on Easter break this week.

Usually, when I'm not teaching classes, I blog like crazy.

Not this time.

Other matters require my immediate attention: working on students' grades, spiffing up the house for an out-of-town guest to arrive in May, swapping out my summer clothes for my winter clothes, various doctors' appointments for both Mr. AOW and me — just to name a few of the labors I'll be doing this week.

I also need to regroup physically and mentally:

Besides, I have grown weary of chronicling the ongoing and oncoming political and societal train wreck as I've been doing nearly nonstop for the past six years. I do not plan to quit blogging forever!

I will return to posting here at Always On Watch when the bloom is back on the rose. In the meantime, I will continue to make blog rounds as time and my weary spirit allow.

Simply put, I need some time:

Slaves Of The State?

This should make your blood run cold.

From this article in the Wall Street Journal (hat tip to Weasel Zippers):
...More Americans work for the government than work in construction, farming, fishing, forestry, manufacturing, mining and utilities combined. We have moved decisively from a nation of makers to a nation of takers. Nearly half of the $2.2 trillion cost of state and local governments is the $1 trillion-a-year tab for pay and benefits of state and local employees. Is it any wonder that so many states and cities cannot pay their bills?

Every state in America today except for two—Indiana and Wisconsin—has more government workers on the payroll than people manufacturing industrial goods....
Also from the article:
This is an almost exact reversal of the situation in 1960, when there were 15 million workers in manufacturing and 8.7 million collecting a paycheck from the government.

Over 1168 waivers of meeting the requirements of ObamaCare have been granted so far, over half of those waivers to unions, and the waivers now cover over 3,000,000 workers.

I'm not.
